Drinks at the Grill || Spike and Caroline
Bloody Buffy. She was all he could seem to think about. When he was going to see her next, how she was going to react to seeing him in person for the first time since the Hellmouth caved in, and of course; if she had any feelings for him whatsoever. He already knew the answer to the last question, she’d never have feelings for him. He’d already gotten used to that fact. He just couldn’t let go of the small hope he held. That one flame in the center of darkness. He kept it guarded, making sure it never went out. Because if it did, what would he have then?
Memories of her using his body to feel after she was brought back from Heaven, that’s all he’d have.
Letting out a derisive snort, he took a sip of his scotch, his head shaking a bit as he swallowed. He was definitely love’s bitch.
He looked up for a brief moment, his eyes catching sight of a blonde woman walking through the door. At first glance, it looked like his beloved Slayer. Blonde hair, cute face, charming smile. But then he took a second look, and he knew right away it wasn’t her. Aside from her hair, they looked nothing alike. Just another girl. He couldn’t help but watch her though, memories of the younger Buffy flooding into his mind. A younger, happy Buffy.
When she locked eyes with him, he was going to look away, pretend like he hadn’t been watching her as he thought about Buffy, but it was too late. She’d acknowledged him with a slight nod, which he reciprocated, then held his drink up, wiggling it a bit as if to say ‘Cheers’, then took a long sip.
He needed to stop thinking about Buffy, and get shitfaced instead.
Caroline held her shot glass up in the air as well in a sort of informal toast before throwing it back. The dark liquid burned on its way down her throat, and she immediately chased it with her Cosmo, feeling the icy cool relief almost instantaneously. Swirling the ice cubes around in her glass with the red straw that was given to her, Caroline inconspicuously studied the man next to her. She could have sworn she knew most of the people in Mystic Falls, since it wasn't the busiest of towns. But then again, she could never know these days with the Originals inhabiting the once quiet town.
She debated whether or not she should even try to make conversation with this man, because in all honesty he looked kind of.. dangerous underneath all of that sizzling exterior. Caroline couldn't smell vampire on him, or even werewolf at that, so she figured why not? She always made room for more friends in her life.
Turning casually towards the bleached-blonde man with a warm smile claiming her lips, Caroline asked innocently,
"You from around here? I don't think I've seen you before and well, the Mystic Grill is kind of my turf."
Turf? Did I just say turf?
What she had meant to say was, that she was a regular here at the Grill. In fact, her ex-boyfriend Matt worked here and the two were still good friends. He always hooked it up big whenever Caroline and her friends were there. In her pre-vampy days, Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie used to come to the Grill to shoot some pool whenever they didn't have anything else better to do. Like she said, there wasn't much to do here in Mystic Falls.
