The review and story of Field of Dreams
Field of Dreams" is a timeless classic that captures the magic and nostalgia of baseball. Directed by Phil Alden Robinson and released in 1989, the film stars Kevin Costner as an Iowa farmer named Ray Kinsella who hears a mysterious voice urging him to build a baseball diamond in the middle of his cornfield. As he follows this inexplicable urge, he is led on a journey that is both personal and universal, exploring themes of loss, regret, redemption, and the power of faith.
The story of "Field of Dreams" begins with an Iowa farmer named Ray Kinsella, who is living a quiet and contented life with his wife Annie and their daughter Karin. One day, while walking through his cornfield, Ray hears a mysterious voice whispering to him: "If you build it, he will come." Though he's unsure what the message means, he feels compelled to follow it.
As Ray becomes more obsessed with the voice and its meaning, he starts to have visions of a baseball field in the middle of his cornfield. Despite the fact that this idea seems crazy to everyone around him, Ray is determined to bring his vision to life. With Annie's support, he plows under his crops and builds the baseball diamond, even going so far as to travel to Boston to track down an aging writer named Terence Mann who he believes is somehow connected to the voice he's been hearing.
Terence initially resists Ray's efforts to involve him in the project, but eventually comes around after experiencing a vision of his own. Together, Ray and Terence embark on a journey to find a reclusive former baseball player named "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, who they believe is the "he" referred to in the voice's message. As they travel across the country, they encounter various obstacles, including a menacing gang of baseball fans and Ray's estranged brother, who is dismissive of his brother's obsession.
Eventually, Ray and Terence find Joe Jackson, along with several other deceased baseball players who have come to life on the field. As Ray plays catch with his father, who he had a strained relationship with, the message becomes clear: the voice was guiding Ray to reconcile with his past and embrace the things that truly matter in life, such as family and community.
In the end, "Field of Dreams" is a powerful meditation on the nature of faith, redemption, and the power of following one's dreams. Through Ray's journey, we see how the things that may seem crazy or impossible can ultimately lead to the most meaningful and fulfilling experiences of our lives.
