BMW Key Programmer
New Programmer
There is a new BMW Key Programmer thats been released. Its also a diagnostic device and has software installed for maintenence inc. Warning lights on-off, mileage correction, Vin, Airbags, etc. etc.
By the looks of this they have used the c110 and added the key prog. software onto it thus making a more effective programmer with more features. It is the same as the ones that have had some bad press recently, might i add not by it being a bad product, but because it is good and people are taking cars using them.
They seem to be around 4/5 good devices out there and they have a price range from £1500-9000 which is very large margin, but have read reviews that they are all the same and are very similar. It is a good thing as you dont need to bother with BMW at all. All you need is a blank key and plug the device into the OBD2 and then push a few buttons (all very easy to use). Then wait 10-14 seconds depending on device, and then start the car. The key is then programmed with the car and can be used everytime. You can also delete the original key. This is like i say a good thing as the dealerships dont have a hold on BMW owners, and cannot charge excessive amounts no-more.
But as said the bad points are that car thefts have rose with this device, as the demand for high end cars is at a all time high. And its ironic that the car security is the reason why there is such a demand in the first place. What with chipped keys and cars needing the transponder to match and activate for the car to start.
Anyway the devices are a good sign of the car repair industry breaking the mega grip of the giant car manufacturers. And lowering key prices for lost keys etc. You can always argue that whatever BMW do about this, the thiefs will catch up as they have more and more access to technology now.
