“Alfie?” He was surprised to see the boy and the look of distress on Alfie’s face worried him. “Yes, of course. Come in have a seat. What’s going on Alfie?”

Paige was in bed with Charlie, She heard a noise and opened her eyes. “Hey stranger. Looks like I’m starting to get visitors at this hospital now, huh. I literally do this all day and night..I have no reason to stay in reality when I could be in the dream world with Charlie.”

“It’s been weeks sweetheart. Charlie wouldn’t want you cooped up in here for this long. He would want you living your life.”

Dad look I had to rush him to the marrying us dude before wes changed his mind but don’t worry I have pictures. he gives him a couple of pics. So tell me what’s it like being single and not married because I wouldn’t know. he laughs at his dad. I’m still accepting wedding gifts tho.

“I hope you know you have just crushed your father’s dream! All I wanted was to see my little boy grow up and get married! You are damn right you better have pictures! and your present is me not whipping your bum for running off and wedding without telling your dear ole dad. It feels like I won’t ever have to pay alimony! ”

“I guess…but how come I only have a sub type? Like what does mean? Why don’t I just get smacked in the face with the whole thing? I don’t want medication! I just want out!”

“There are different severities. Everyone’s mind works differently, Alfie. This is just how yours works, The voices, the indecisiveness, the confusion, insomnia . All the signs are there, but without the paranoia or the hallucinations. I am almost certain this is the cause of your self destructive behavior.” He watches him struggle with this I know this is hard, but Just calm down son you’re going to be okay. just because you have a name for it now doesn’t mean it’s going to get any worse, it just means it can start to get better.

“…I-I what? What does that mean, Doc?”

He sighs this was hard for him and even harder he knew it was for Alfie. “ It means this is something you are going to have to learn to live with. You are not alone. There are programs, medications and support groups that are helpful. Just because we can’t cure it, doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you, it just means you’re a little different than a lot of people... and that’s not a bad thing, this is just another part of what makes you, you. Aren't we all a little different?”

“It’s my day off. what are we doing?”

Is there any chance you’re still single dr o malley? that was so nice of you to compliment me.  O.. he said feeling sad Lucy would live. well I guess you did your job but death didn’t do his. he laugh. better luck next time i guess.  she’s nasty just like the scars she’s made on herself. I would like to see her now plz thnx.

Dean walks in to see lucy awake but high on meds.

Hi luciana-marie-davis good news for you…your still alive. why did you try and kill yourself when you were already probs going to die? carlise had opened a window of questions for dean.

She laid there half conscious. “What am I doing here?” She asked weakly. “Who are you?”

“Of course I am.” He winks at dean and they enter the room.

“I’m a doctor and he’s a hero, Your hero.” He looked at Dean. “You’re going to be fine.” He told Lucy. “I’ll let you two have some time alone.” He leaves the room .

“Thank you for being here.” She sat up slightly. “ they want to keep me here over night, but I should be able to go home after that.”

“You just rest. the stronger you are the better and the faster you’ll be home.” He assured her.

“I can’t Carlisle, this is where I need to be. Right here with patients and working.” She shook her head. “ I don’t have time to deal with this.”

“You aren’t working when you get angry with patients that need your empathy, because you are hurting and can’t give it to them. You need time, Amelia. Please just take it for yourself for once.

She wiped her tears. “I’m sorry I drug you into this mess.”

“You have nothing to be sorry for, not to me.” He held her till she didn’t need him anymore.

She cried when he hugged her. “I don’t know what to do…”

“We’ll get there. It just takes time.” He assured her as she cried in his arms.

“I’m fine” she denied. “If I take time off, I’ll have time to think.. And I can’t think about it…”

“You just yelled at your patient who might have a brain aneurysm.” He shook his head. “If you don’t think about it and deal with it now it will keep haunting you until you do, and it’s starting to affect you in your field. What next? someone walks in with a hemorrhage and you tell them to put a band-aid over their ears because they’ll make a mess? You need to grave, Ameila. There’s no shame in that.

She sobbed as she looked down at the lifeless baby in her arms.. “I lost Ryan and now my baby too.” She was sobbing so hard she couldn’t breath as they took the baby away she clung to Carlisle.

Carlisle clung back to her hating she had lost the one part of Ryan that she had left and now felt like she had nothing. If Carlisle lost his son he wouldn’t even want to go on existing so to him he knew her pain must be unfathomable.

She nodded, they went to her room and soon everything was set up, she grabbed his hand, looking up at him terrified as they started everything. It wasn’t long before she was holding her baby, tears streaming down her face. “Carlisle….” She sobbed

He held her hand the whole time and once the baby was there and in her arms he watched wishing there was something he could do to take her pain away, this was why he wanted to be a doctor so that he could stop people from hurting, but this was out of his hands and it killed him to know there was nothing he could do to stop this hurt. “I know.” He caressed her hair. “I know.” He seen her pain and knew she was hurting and he felt helpless and he at least hopped she knew he understood that.
