Name: Carlos Thatcher.

Appearance: Blond wavey hair, right eye is blind, a scar goes over it.

Carlos has been working for Hydra for twenty years, sense he was 25. He has a high ranking in Hydra, slowly been working his way up. He has an augmented eye, it allows him to have x-ray vision and other abilities in his left eye when needed. Carlos is not what he seems...

Open Roleplay - Supreme Hydra AU

It was impressive, really, the way Valerie had managed to move up the ranks in Hydra. She'd been born only an asset. The маленький солдат. But she'd realised, eventually, that she was more powerful than her Handler. Than any of the agents who dared look down on her. So, to make a long, bloody story short, she'd taken over. Those who had pledged their loyalty to her as the new Supreme Hydra Commander had survived. Those who hadn't... well. People feared her now. It was a heady feeling, given a life of being the scared one.

It was the night of her annual Hydra gala, and important event of schmoozing with other Hydra officials and reminding those who liked to hold on to her previous life as an asset exactly why they should know better. Valerie walks into the ballroom, hushed conversations following her. She approaches someone on the other side of the room, who's surrounded by other people in the middle of the conversation, calming gliding over to stop in front of them. "And here I thought you wouldn't make it."

Carlos looks up sharply, his eyes blown huge. He's on a steady stream of drugs, enough to make him compliant to Valerie, he'd been horrified when she'd started to take over Hydra, begging her to destroy it with him, but... it hadn't worked. And now here he is, drugged up and loyal to Valerie, sharing her want to be in control of Hydra.

"Valerie." He shuffles over to her, reaching out and touching her arm. "I wouldn't miss it." He smirks and links his arm through hers, if anything he's more a loyal pet who hangs on her every word. He looks around the room carefully. "Quite a turn out..."

Valerie had been dissapointed when he hadn't shared her vision, but she has him by her side now, even if the means are slightly less than ideal, and that makes it worth it.

She scratches her nails idly up his arm as they look around. "It is, indeed. I think maybe the best one so far," she comments.

Carlos shivers at the scraping over her nails. He looks up at her with an adoring expression. "I think so." His gaze sweeps across the room as he leans into Valerie's side.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie keeps a possessive hold on Carlos. In whatever twisted way she's able to, she does care deeply for him, and wants to keep him close. "Come. I want a drink."

Carlos frowns at the mention of a drink, he doesn't like drinks, but he'll do it for Valerie. "Okay." He walks along with her, tucked into Valerie's side.

Valerie smiles, and keeps a hand on him in some way the entire time they walk to the bar. She gets a glass of her own special brand of alchohol. "You want anything, darling?"

Carlos wraps his arm around her waist, nodding to a few Hydra officials. He glances at the bar and sighs a bit. "Just water." He leans up to press a kiss to Val's jaw.

"Mm, alright, love." She gives him a glass of water, though it's spiked with a fresh dose of the drugs he's one, and leans down to kiss him properly.

Carlos kisses her back deeply, pulling back after a moment to catch his breath. He takes a large gulp of the water. "Do you have anything planned for tonight?"

Valerie smiles and strokes his cheek. "I thought you might like to have some fun," she comments. "There's some of your least favourite agents here, all of whom you outrank now."

Carlos hums happily and leans into Valerie's touch. His eyes light up with something sick. "I would love to have some fun..." He grins up at her.

Valerie chuckles. "Well, you can take your pick," she tells him, gesturing around. "What are they going to do about it, after all?"

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos smirks and laughs. He scans the crowd, taking another sip of water. "Him." He points to an older man in the room, one of the agents that was around when Carlos was a teen here.

Valerie smirks too, and she wraps an arm around him before walking over to the man. "Stone," she greets with faux-warmth. "...Ma'am," he greets, igorning Carlos.

Carlos narrows his eyes and shoves Stone's shoulder angrily. "Don't ignore a higher ranking officer." He spits out, though he hesitates after that, why does that feel wrong to say?

Valerie smiles, pleased, and strokes a hand over Carlos' arm briefly. "Apologise to my partner, Stone," she says carelessly. He glowers. "...Im sorry."

Carlos smirks and straightens up, leaning into Valerie's side as he does. "Good, you should know better." He snaps coldly.

Valerie just snickers, amused by the whole interaction. She lets Carlos torment him some more before dragging him away.

Carlos blinks and walks with Valerie. "You okay?" His voice has shifted to a soft tone before he blinks, he looks away and rubs at his forehead.

Valerie nods. "Yes, just sick of politics. All those agents who want to be pleased instead of just obeying." She shakes her head, irritated, then softens when he turns. "Are you?"

[carlos-thatcher]

"They should just obey." Carlos mumbles, rubbing her arm to try to help her. He frowns and touches his head lightly. "Yes...? My head feels strange."

[valerie-patton]

"They should," Valerie agrees. She touches his temple gently, a concerned frown appearing. "Does it hurt?"

Carlos leans into her touch. "No... just feels strange, like something's not right." His brow furrows and he looks around the room. "This isn't right."

[valerie-patton]

Valerie frowns. She hands him a small vial. "Drink this. It'll make you feel better, my love." She must have waited too long to give him the new drugs.

Carlos stares down at the vial, something screaming in him not to. "Why?" He tries to hand it back to her, why is he in a party in Hydra? He frowns and looks around quickly. "Valerie..."

[valerie-patton]

"It will make you feel better," Valerie repeats. She panics internally at the growing clarity in Carlos' eyes. No. She will not lose him, not now.. she needs him. "Drink it, Carlos."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and shakes his head, memories starting to surface. "You- you run Hydra!" He stumbles back from her, betrayal flashing in his eyes. The party has gone a bit quiet, people glancing their way.

[valerie-patton]

"No, Carlos, we run Hydra." Valerie pulls him back against her, trying to make it look like they were having a moment to the onlookers. She cant' force drugs down his throat in front of them, even if it's a bit of a unkept secret he's drugged. She pours the vial into her own mouth instead, knowing she's immune, and kisses him.

"No! No we were supposed destroy it!" Carlos tries to pull away from Valerie, but he's not match to her strength. This isn't right- He needs to stop- the thought is cut off by the kiss, He gasps and grabs at her shoulders, trying to shove her away.

Valerie holds the kiss just long enough that, hopefully, the drugs will have gotten into his system. She pulls back. "Are you feeling better, dear?"

Carlos coughs and steps back, wiping his mouth. He winces. "Val?" He frowns and glances around, starting to relax, eyes glazing over. "Yeah... sorry-"

Valerie relaxes when he does. Oh, thank god. "Dont be sorry. Do you want to go lie down?" She offers.

Carlos nods and winces. "My head hurts." He leans into her side. Rumlow shuffles over from the other side of the room. "I can take him to his quarters for you, Ma'am." He reaches for Carlos.

Valerie wraps an arm tighter around Carlos. She doesn't trust Rumlow as far as she can throw him, even now. "That's alright, agent. I won't be long."

Carlos leans into Valerie and glared at Rumlow. "Go, we don't need you." He snaps. Rumlow lifts up his hands. "Fine, fine... just offering." He walks away, shaking his head.

Valerie starts leading him away. "You know i would never let those people hurt you, right?" She says softly.

Carlos looks up and smiles softly at her, he loves her so much. "I know." He leans his head onto her shoulder.

Valerie softens. "Good, good. Carlos, you support what we're doing here, right?" She jsut needs to hear it.

Carlos hesitates for a second, that feels wrong but... "Yes, yes I support it." He nods slowly.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie softens. "Good." Sh's going to have to fix the medicine he's taking. He shouldn't be questioning things like this."

Carlos nods slowly. He shifts and tucks into her side, biting his lip, he feels off. He brushes a hand over his forehead shakily.

Valerie leads him back to their quarters, carefully avoiding any agents walking around. "You need to rest."

[carlos-thatcher]

"But the gala..." Carlos protests as she leads him, he leans heavily into her.

[valerie-patton]

"The gala will be fine if I'm the only one there for a while," Valerie promises him.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos nods. "Alright..." His expression is slightly off, like he knows he shouldn't be okay with what's happening.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie frowns. She doesn't like this at all. She kisses his head gently. "Come on, love. You clearly need your rest."

Carlos nods slowly. "Okay..." He frowns and sits on the edge of the bed, brow furrowing, he rubs his forehead. "Valerie..." He trails off and shakes his head.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie turns to leave, but stills when Carlos asks after her. "Yes?" She asks, turning back to him and looking at him gently, for a moment seeming almost like who she wass before her anger overtook her.

Carlos softens when he sees the gentleness. He lays down and shakes his head. "Nothing... I'm alright." He lets his eyes slip closed, it's fine... this is fine, right?

[valerie-patton]

"Good. Good." Valerie leans down and kisses his head sweetly. "I love you. This is for the best," she promises him. She gently brushes his hair out of his eyes.

[carlos-thatcher]

"I love you too..." Cause he does, everything okay... He smiles softly at her touch, reaching up to shakily touch her arm.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie smiles softly and leans down to kiss her again. "Get some rest, my love."

Carlos melts into the kiss then nods, curling up in the bed. If Valerie says it's right... whatever she stands for must be right.

Valerie slips away back to the ball once he falls asleep, but she's proccupied the entire rest of the night, thinking about him.

Carlos wakes up a few hours later, frowning and pushing himself up on his elbows, looking around the room carefully, it's empty still.

Valerie might have gotten a touch drunk in her concern over Carlos' state at the gala... she stumbles back to their room..

Carlos glances up when the door opens, he's still tired, rubbing at his head, trying to make sense of everything. "Val...?"

[valerie-patton]

"Yes, Carlos?" Valerie slips into their room and flops onto the bed beside him, pulling him close.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos blinks in surprise but let's her pull him close. "Hi... you were gone for a while."

[valerie-patton]

"Lotsa people to talk to," Valerie replies, he an smell the alchohol on her as she snuggles down.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns a bit and snuggling with her, but scrunches his nose. "Why do you smell like alcohol?" He pushes her away a little.

[valerie-patton]

"Had a couple drinks," Valerie answers, frowning when he pushes her away from him.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos rolls over fully. "I'd rather not lay down with you right now, then." He tucks a blanket to his chest.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie sits up and frowns. "Whys'not?" She asks, seemingly confused by the behaviour.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and curls up further on the bed. "I don't like it, I don't like you being drunk."

[valerie-patton]

"I'm not drunk," Valerie protests. "I can shower if y'don't like the smell... I'm not drunk."

[carlos-thatcher]

"Why did you drink?" Carlos props himself up on his elbows, frowning a bit. He feels off. "I thought you were supposed to be in control and in charge."

[valerie-patton]

Valerie sits up to look at him. "I am in control. We were celebrating! They had my stuff, thats all..."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and pushes his hair back. "Leaders shouldn't drink a lot." He frowns and looks away.

[valerie-patton]

"Leaders also shouldn't have a stick up their ass constantly," Valerie replies. "I need to let them see me less cold."

[carlos-thatcher]

"But why? Hydra is all about being cold." He frowns and tucks his legs underneath himself.

[valerie-patton]

"Yeah, but i cant get by on fear alone," Valerie says, looking down. "I need them to see me as an equal."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and leans back against the wall. "What are we even doing Valerie? Why are you running Hydra? We were supposed to destroy it." He winces and touches his head.

[valerie-patton]

"Because this is better,"Valerie insists. "They cant hurt us now... we were never going to be able to destroy it..."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and shuffles back, the drugs obviously mot working as well as they have before. "But we had Shield, we could destroy Hydra, Valerie. What do you even plan to do with it?",

[valerie-patton]

Valerie hesitates. Why aren't the drugs working? "I'll do something,"she says, looking away from Carlos. "I cant just let them get away with everything."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos shuffles down into the bed, frowning and tugging at his hair for a moment. "We don't... hurt anyone anymore, rivht?"

[valerie-patton]

"No one who doesn't deserve it," Valerie tells him, pulling the blankets back over herself after a moment.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns but nods, shuffling further under the blanket, his brow furrowed as he thinks.

[valerie-patton]

"Carlos..." Val shifts to look at him. "Dont worry about this, okay? Let me handle it.."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos looks to her, biting his lip for a moment before he nods. "Okay..." But something still feels off. He rolls away to sleep.

Valerie sighs, but doesnt push it. She doesnt want to deal with this to fight so she just ignored it.

Carlos wakes up the next morning and the drugs have settled. Everything feels right again. He rolls over and pulls Valerie into a lazy kiss.

Valerie is so relieved when the drugs settle and she pulls him close and returns the kiss gently. "Morning."

Carlos hums and wraps one arm around her. Last night feels fuzzy. "Morning..." He mumbles, snuggling into her, he still likes to ve held.

Lo has her hands pressed to her face, fighting back tears. She's pregnant, which was never supoosed to happen. She tips her head back against the wall, tears running down her face.

Lo can't show the emotions around anyone, Hydra expects her to be happy about carrying a child for Hydra, her father is thrilled. But Lo never wanted this, to have a child in Hydra? That's no life for a child. But now that it's happened, everyone in Hydra is happy, Pierce is getting a grandchild.

Lo is determined to keep the baby safe, she's guessing she's getting pretty close to her due date, and she's... scared. Lo hears a knock on her door, she winces and looks away. She doesn't want to see anyone.

Val had been furious when he'd found out Lo was pregnant, or as furious as an asset could be. It wasn't his baby, and while he wasn't a possessive man he did hate the thought of her hurt. Once he was over that fury, though, he did everything he could to get temporarily transferred to being her guard so he didn't have to leave her unprotected.

"It's just me, Lo," he murmurs at the door.

Lo gets to her feet and pushes the door open, quickly wiping her tears away. "Val, I'm... I'm fine." She walks back into her room, hands resting on her stomach, tears prick at her eyes as she stares off. "I'm fine. Everything alright?" She swallows thickly and glances back to him.

"Youre not." He looks at Lo, not even bothering to hide his concern, and follows her back into her room. "I was sent to check up on you," he admits slowly.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo shakes her head, walking further into the room. "By who?" She swipes a tear away, she can't cry- She glances back to Val, trying to hide the blatant pain on her face.

[valerie-patton]

"Your father." He looks a little disgruntled by that, he hates Pierce but.. "He's concerned about the health of the baby..."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo frowns and lowers herself shakily into a chair. "The babies fine." She shakes her head angrily. She really hasn't been accepting any medical help then necessary. She rests her hand lightly on her stomach.

[valerie-patton]

"You look hurt..." Val says, his voice soft. He comes and sits down beside Lo, hating to see her in pain. "I know the doctors are awful, but please, Lo...'

[carlos-thatcher]

"I'm just a little sore." Lo mumbles, resting her head on Val's shoulder. "I don't want those doctors anywhere near my baby." She frowns down at her stomach, she's far into her pregnancy, near her due date. "I'll be fine."

[valerie-patton]

"How are you going to give birth without a doctor, hm?" Val shakes her head, one hand moving to tentatively rest on the baby bump. "I wish i could do more."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo frowns and tips her head back. "I don't know... but I can't let Hydra doctors get their hands on my baby." She glances down at Val's hand, blinking back tears. "I wasn't supposed to get pregnant- not by... by someone else."

[valerie-patton]

"I know." Val cant watch another child be raised the same way thay he was. He looks down at his hand also. "Lo... can i.." He swallows. They havent talked about it yet. "...whose is it?"

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo shifts and rests his head on Val's shoulder, taking a few shaky breaths. She closes her eyes, hand resting lightly on her bump. She knew they would have to talk about this eventually, no matter how much she doesn't want to. "It's White's." She whispers, sounding devestated.

[valerie-patton]

Val feels sick. Of all the people to do it... he suddenly understands twice as much why she was so hesitant to talk about it. He gently strokes over the bump. "Did he- god, im so sorry, Lo... was it on purpose...?'

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo wants to cry at how gentle his touch is. She closes her eyes and takes a few shaky breaths. "No, not on purpose. He cornered me at a party, tried to tell him no, but father saw and encouraged it, I couldn't say no." Her voice gets tight as she speaks, her hands clenched at her sides.

[valerie-patton]

Val wants to murder White. Pierce too. "Im so sorry," he whispers instead. He leans down and kissed her head. "I wish I could have been there, I could've..." Done nothing, actually.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo shakes her head. "There's nothing you could've done." She smiles shakily at the kiss, resting a hand on her stomach again. "I'm not letting White get his hands on my child, or anyone in Hydra." The baby kicks gently against Val's hand.

[valerie-patton]

"I could've tried to take your place, I could have done something." He knows its stupid to say but hes just so furious that this happened to Lo. "I know. I'll protect them, as much as i can..." He smiles though, when the baby kicks. "Hi, there..."

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know, I know you would've helped me. But it's over, I'm pregnant, I'm pregnant and there's nothing I can do." Lo chokes down a sob at her words, she stares up at the ceiling, desperately trying to stay in control. She softens at Val's smile. "Are they kicking?"

[valerie-patton]

Val is just so furious for her. "You know anything you need, I'll do?" He asks, knowing there are limitations on both of them. He kissed her head again and nods. "Yeah, they are..."

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know." Lo whispers, tears in her eyes. "I knos." She softens at the kiss, always does. She smiles and places her hand next to Val's. "Hey baby..." She whispers shakily, she just wants to keep them safe-

[valerie-patton]

Val nods. He looks down at Lo and the baby bump. "I've gotta get you outta here," he murmurs, a reversal of their usual roles. "I cant let this baby grow up here.."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo looks up, it's so strange to have their roles reversed. She rests her hand protectively on her bump. "I won't leave here unless you leave with me, but I need my baby safe." She whispers, pain in her voice.

[valerie-patton]

"There's no way all three of us get out of here yet," Val points out. He drops his hand and paces. "I'll figure something out. Ill sneak you out... something.. is Wh.. is he intending to help raise them?"

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know but I'm not letting you stay here. I'll... I'll have someone in Shield raise my baby, I can't leave you here." Lo bites her lip, rubbing her stomach anxiously. She shakes her head. "I think he is, I can't let him, I won't."

[valerie-patton]

"Lo, its okay.." Val says gently. "How are you gonna explain your baby disappearing, hm?" He shakes his head. "God, I hate him... that bastard, I swear to god..'

[carlos-thatcher]

"It's not okay! Nothing about this is okay!" Lo bursts out, she drops back against her chair, breathing heavily, It's rare for her to lose her control. "I don't know Val- I'm sorry, I'm sorry-" She covers her face with her hands.

[valerie-patton]

Val winces. Its bad when Lo gets this out of control. He sits down in front of her. "Lo, look at me. We're going to figure this out, okay?" He smiles weakly. "I'll do whatever I have to to get you two safe."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo looks up shakily, meeting Val's eyes. "Okay-" She whispers shakily, not used to feeling this out of control, she shifts and wraps her arms around Val best she can with her stomach. "I'm sorry, I'm... overwhelmed."

[valerie-patton]

"Dont be sorry. It's okay." He kisses Lo's head gently and then looks down at her. "Do you want me to stay here tonight? I can probably be okay to..." Might take a little bargaining but he could do it.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo kisses Val's shoulder gently before leaning back. "I would like that if you can manage it, without getting into too much trouble." She frowns and looks down, wincing and gasping in pain. "Braxton Hicks-" She wraps her arms around her stomach.

[valerie-patton]

"I'll see what i can do. Give me an hour or so." He smiles a little and then immediately focuses on her, holding her. "Breathe, sweetheart... I've got you.."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo leans into Valerie, breathing heavily. She closes her eyes and just tries to focus on the feeling of Val. She scrunches her nose up in pain.

[valerie-patton]

"That's it," Val encourages. "Just breathe. You're doing great." He rubs her back gently, trying to help her through the pain.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo takes a few deep breaths, resting her head on Val's shoulder. "I swear if this baby comes early-" She winces and bites her lip, holding on harder to Val.

[valerie-patton]

"If they come early, then we'll figure something out," Val promises her. He smiles reassuringly, continuing to rub her back in the hopes that it helps.

Lo takes a few slow breaths, nodding shakily, she curls into Val best she can with her baby bump. "Have you seen father recently?" She whispers, she's been avoiding him at all costs.

[valerie-patton]

Val holds her as best he can, then sighs. "...yeah. He's been around," he hedges. Truth be told, Pierce had been on Val's ass about getting to see Lo.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo curses and shakes her head, pulling back to lean against the wall, running her hands over her stomach. "Has he said anything to you?" She scrunches her nose up.

[valerie-patton]

Val sighs. "He wants to see you," he admits, coming to sit down besides Lo's chair. "He's angry you're avoiding him."

Lo drops her head into her hands. "Of course he does... I'll have to see him then." She looks highly upset at that but quickly smooths her expression out. "I can't let him get any angrier."

[valerie-patton]

"I can keep keeping him away," Val offers because he doesnt know much about pregnancy but he can only assume the stress would be bad.

Lo lets out a distressed sound. "But he'll get angrier then, if he hurts me because of it, it'll hurt the baby!" She closes her eyes and takes a few deep breaths, she never gets this... out of control.

"Valerie." He shuffles over to her, reaching out and touching her arm. "I wouldn't miss it." He smirks and links his arm through hers, if anything he's more a loyal pet who hangs on her every word. He looks around the room carefully. "Quite a turn out..."

Valerie keeps a possessive hold on Carlos. In whatever twisted way she's able to, she does care deeply for him, and wants to keep him close. "Come. I want a drink."

Carlos frowns at the mention of a drink, he doesn't like drinks, but he'll do it for Valerie. "Okay." He walks along with her, tucked into Valerie's side.

Valerie smiles, and keeps a hand on him in some way the entire time they walk to the bar. She gets a glass of her own special brand of alchohol. "You want anything, darling?"

Carlos wraps his arm around her waist, nodding to a few Hydra officials. He glances at the bar and sighs a bit. "Just water." He leans up to press a kiss to Val's jaw.

"Mm, alright, love." She gives him a glass of water, though it's spiked with a fresh dose of the drugs he's one, and leans down to kiss him properly.

Carlos kisses her back deeply, pulling back after a moment to catch his breath. He takes a large gulp of the water. "Do you have anything planned for tonight?"

Valerie smiles and strokes his cheek. "I thought you might like to have some fun," she comments. "There's some of your least favourite agents here, all of whom you outrank now."

Carlos hums happily and leans into Valerie's touch. His eyes light up with something sick. "I would love to have some fun..." He grins up at her.

Valerie chuckles. "Well, you can take your pick," she tells him, gesturing around. "What are they going to do about it, after all?"

Carlos smirks and laughs. He scans the crowd, taking another sip of water. "Him." He points to an older man in the room, one of the agents that was around when Carlos was a teen here.

Valerie smirks too, and she wraps an arm around him before walking over to the man. "Stone," she greets with faux-warmth. "...Ma'am," he greets, igorning Carlos.

Carlos narrows his eyes and shoves Stone's shoulder angrily. "Don't ignore a higher ranking officer." He spits out, though he hesitates after that, why does that feel wrong to say?

Valerie smiles, pleased, and strokes a hand over Carlos' arm briefly. "Apologise to my partner, Stone," she says carelessly. He glowers. "...Im sorry."

Carlos smirks and straightens up, leaning into Valerie's side as he does. "Good, you should know better." He snaps coldly.

Valerie just snickers, amused by the whole interaction. She lets Carlos torment him some more before dragging him away.

Carlos blinks and walks with Valerie. "You okay?" His voice has shifted to a soft tone before he blinks, he looks away and rubs at his forehead.

Valerie nods. "Yes, just sick of politics. All those agents who want to be pleased instead of just obeying." She shakes her head, irritated, then softens when he turns. "Are you?"

"They should just obey." Carlos mumbles, rubbing her arm to try to help her. He frowns and touches his head lightly. "Yes...? My head feels strange."

"They should," Valerie agrees. She touches his temple gently, a concerned frown appearing. "Does it hurt?"

Carlos leans into her touch. "No... just feels strange, like something's not right." His brow furrows and he looks around the room. "This isn't right."

Valerie frowns. She hands him a small vial. "Drink this. It'll make you feel better, my love." She must have waited too long to give him the new drugs.

Carlos stares down at the vial, something screaming in him not to. "Why?" He tries to hand it back to her, why is he in a party in Hydra? He frowns and looks around quickly. "Valerie..."

"It will make you feel better," Valerie repeats. She panics internally at the growing clarity in Carlos' eyes. No. She will not lose him, not now.. she needs him. "Drink it, Carlos."

Carlos frowns and shakes his head, memories starting to surface. "You- you run Hydra!" He stumbles back from her, betrayal flashing in his eyes. The party has gone a bit quiet, people glancing their way.

"No, Carlos, we run Hydra." Valerie pulls him back against her, trying to make it look like they were having a moment to the onlookers. She cant' force drugs down his throat in front of them, even if it's a bit of a unkept secret he's drugged. She pours the vial into her own mouth instead, knowing she's immune, and kisses him.

"No! No we were supposed destroy it!" Carlos tries to pull away from Valerie, but he's not match to her strength. This isn't right- He needs to stop- the thought is cut off by the kiss, He gasps and grabs at her shoulders, trying to shove her away.

Valerie holds the kiss just long enough that, hopefully, the drugs will have gotten into his system. She pulls back. "Are you feeling better, dear?"

Carlos coughs and steps back, wiping his mouth. He winces. "Val?" He frowns and glances around, starting to relax, eyes glazing over. "Yeah... sorry-"

Valerie relaxes when he does. Oh, thank god. "Dont be sorry. Do you want to go lie down?" She offers.

Carlos nods and winces. "My head hurts." He leans into her side. Rumlow shuffles over from the other side of the room. "I can take him to his quarters for you, Ma'am." He reaches for Carlos.

Carlos softens when he sees the gentleness. He lays down and shakes his head. "Nothing... I'm alright." He lets his eyes slip closed, it's fine... this is fine, right?

"Good. Good." Valerie leans down and kisses his head sweetly. "I love you. This is for the best," she promises him. She gently brushes his hair out of his eyes.

"I love you too..." Cause he does, everything okay... He smiles softly at her touch, reaching up to shakily touch her arm.

Carlos wakes up a few hours later, frowning and pushing himself up on his elbows, looking around the room carefully, it's empty still.

Valerie might have gotten a touch drunk in her concern over Carlos' state at the gala... she stumbles back to their room..

Carlos glances up when the door opens, he's still tired, rubbing at his head, trying to make sense of everything. "Val...?"

"Yes, Carlos?" Valerie slips into their room and flops onto the bed beside him, pulling him close.

Carlos blinks in surprise but let's her pull him close. "Hi... you were gone for a while."

"Lotsa people to talk to," Valerie replies, he an smell the alchohol on her as she snuggles down.

Carlos frowns a bit and snuggling with her, but scrunches his nose. "Why do you smell like alcohol?" He pushes her away a little.

"Had a couple drinks," Valerie answers, frowning when he pushes her away from him.

Carlos rolls over fully. "I'd rather not lay down with you right now, then." He tucks a blanket to his chest.

Valerie sits up and frowns. "Whys'not?" She asks, seemingly confused by the behaviour.

Carlos frowns and curls up further on the bed. "I don't like it, I don't like you being drunk."

"I'm not drunk," Valerie protests. "I can shower if y'don't like the smell... I'm not drunk."

"Why did you drink?" Carlos props himself up on his elbows, frowning a bit. He feels off. "I thought you were supposed to be in control and in charge."

Valerie sits up to look at him. "I am in control. We were celebrating! They had my stuff, thats all..."

Carlos frowns and pushes his hair back. "Leaders shouldn't drink a lot." He frowns and looks away.

"Leaders also shouldn't have a stick up their ass constantly," Valerie replies. "I need to let them see me less cold."

"But why? Hydra is all about being cold." He frowns and tucks his legs underneath himself.

"Yeah, but i cant get by on fear alone," Valerie says, looking down. "I need them to see me as an equal."

Carlos frowns and leans back against the wall. "What are we even doing Valerie? Why are you running Hydra? We were supposed to destroy it." He winces and touches his head.

"Because this is better,"Valerie insists. "They cant hurt us now... we were never going to be able to destroy it..."

Carlos frowns and shuffles back, the drugs obviously mot working as well as they have before. "But we had Shield, we could destroy Hydra, Valerie. What do you even plan to do with it?",

Valerie hesitates. Why aren't the drugs working? "I'll do something,"she says, looking away from Carlos. "I cant just let them get away with everything."

Carlos shuffles down into the bed, frowning and tugging at his hair for a moment. "We don't... hurt anyone anymore, rivht?"

[valerie-patton]

"No one who doesn't deserve it," Valerie tells him, pulling the blankets back over herself after a moment.

Carlos frowns but nods, shuffling further under the blanket, his brow furrowed as he thinks.

"Carlos..." Val shifts to look at him. "Dont worry about this, okay? Let me handle it.."

Carlos looks to her, biting his lip for a moment before he nods. "Okay..." But something still feels off. He rolls away to sleep.

Valerie sighs, but doesnt push it. She doesnt want to deal with this to fight so she just ignored it.

Carlos wakes up the next morning and the drugs have settled. Everything feels right again. He rolls over and pulls Valerie into a lazy kiss.

Lo has her hands pressed to her face, fighting back tears. She's pregnant, which was never supoosed to happen. She tips her head back against the wall, tears running down her face.

Lo can't show the emotions around anyone, Hydra expects her to be happy about carrying a child for Hydra, her father is thrilled. But Lo never wanted this, to have a child in Hydra? That's no life for a child. But now that it's happened, everyone in Hydra is happy, Pierce is getting a grandchild.

Lo is determined to keep the baby safe, she's guessing she's getting pretty close to her due date, and she's... scared. Lo hears a knock on her door, she winces and looks away. She doesn't want to see anyone.

Val had been furious when he'd found out Lo was pregnant, or as furious as an asset could be. It wasn't his baby, and while he wasn't a possessive man he did hate the thought of her hurt. Once he was over that fury, though, he did everything he could to get temporarily transferred to being her guard so he didn't have to leave her unprotected.

"It's just me, Lo," he murmurs at the door.

Lo gets to her feet and pushes the door open, quickly wiping her tears away. "Val, I'm... I'm fine." She walks back into her room, hands resting on her stomach, tears prick at her eyes as she stares off. "I'm fine. Everything alright?" She swallows thickly and glances back to him.

"Youre not." He looks at Lo, not even bothering to hide his concern, and follows her back into her room. "I was sent to check up on you," he admits slowly.

Lo shakes her head, walking further into the room. "By who?" She swipes a tear away, she can't cry- She glances back to Val, trying to hide the blatant pain on her face.

"Your father." He looks a little disgruntled by that, he hates Pierce but.. "He's concerned about the health of the baby..."

Lo frowns and lowers herself shakily into a chair. "The babies fine." She shakes her head angrily. She really hasn't been accepting any medical help then necessary. She rests her hand lightly on her stomach.

"You look hurt..." Val says, his voice soft. He comes and sits down beside Lo, hating to see her in pain. "I know the doctors are awful, but please, Lo...'

"I'm just a little sore." Lo mumbles, resting her head on Val's shoulder. "I don't want those doctors anywhere near my baby." She frowns down at her stomach, she's far into her pregnancy, near her due date. "I'll be fine."

"How are you going to give birth without a doctor, hm?" Val shakes her head, one hand moving to tentatively rest on the baby bump. "I wish i could do more."

Lo frowns and tips her head back. "I don't know... but I can't let Hydra doctors get their hands on my baby." She glances down at Val's hand, blinking back tears. "I wasn't supposed to get pregnant- not by... by someone else."

"I know." Val cant watch another child be raised the same way thay he was. He looks down at his hand also. "Lo... can i.." He swallows. They havent talked about it yet. "...whose is it?"

Lo shifts and rests his head on Val's shoulder, taking a few shaky breaths. She closes her eyes, hand resting lightly on her bump. She knew they would have to talk about this eventually, no matter how much she doesn't want to. "It's White's." She whispers, sounding devestated.

Val feels sick. Of all the people to do it... he suddenly understands twice as much why she was so hesitant to talk about it. He gently strokes over the bump. "Did he- god, im so sorry, Lo... was it on purpose...?'

Lo wants to cry at how gentle his touch is. She closes her eyes and takes a few shaky breaths. "No, not on purpose. He cornered me at a party, tried to tell him no, but father saw and encouraged it, I couldn't say no." Her voice gets tight as she speaks, her hands clenched at her sides.

"I know, I know you would've helped me. But it's over, I'm pregnant, I'm pregnant and there's nothing I can do." Lo chokes down a sob at her words, she stares up at the ceiling, desperately trying to stay in control. She softens at Val's smile. "Are they kicking?"

Val is just so furious for her. "You know anything you need, I'll do?" He asks, knowing there are limitations on both of them. He kissed her head again and nods. "Yeah, they are..."

"There's no way all three of us get out of here yet," Val points out. He drops his hand and paces. "I'll figure something out. Ill sneak you out... something.. is Wh.. is he intending to help raise them?"

"I know but I'm not letting you stay here. I'll... I'll have someone in Shield raise my baby, I can't leave you here." Lo bites her lip, rubbing her stomach anxiously. She shakes her head. "I think he is, I can't let him, I won't."

"Lo, its okay.." Val says gently. "How are you gonna explain your baby disappearing, hm?" He shakes his head. "God, I hate him... that bastard, I swear to god..'

"I'll see what i can do. Give me an hour or so." He smiles a little and then immediately focuses on her, holding her. "Breathe, sweetheart... I've got you.."

Valerie smirks too, and she wraps an arm around him before walking over to the man. "Stone," she greets with faux-warmth. "...Ma'am," he greets, igorning Carlos.

Carlos narrows his eyes and shoves Stone's shoulder angrily. "Don't ignore a higher ranking officer." He spits out, though he hesitates after that, why does that feel wrong to say?

Valerie smiles, pleased, and strokes a hand over Carlos' arm briefly. "Apologise to my partner, Stone," she says carelessly. He glowers. "...Im sorry."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos smirks and straightens up, leaning into Valerie's side as he does. "Good, you should know better." He snaps coldly.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie just snickers, amused by the whole interaction. She lets Carlos torment him some more before dragging him away.

Carlos blinks and walks with Valerie. "You okay?" His voice has shifted to a soft tone before he blinks, he looks away and rubs at his forehead.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie nods. "Yes, just sick of politics. All those agents who want to be pleased instead of just obeying." She shakes her head, irritated, then softens when he turns. "Are you?"

[carlos-thatcher]

"They should just obey." Carlos mumbles, rubbing her arm to try to help her. He frowns and touches his head lightly. "Yes...? My head feels strange."

[valerie-patton]

"They should," Valerie agrees. She touches his temple gently, a concerned frown appearing. "Does it hurt?"

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos leans into her touch. "No... just feels strange, like something's not right." His brow furrows and he looks around the room. "This isn't right."

[valerie-patton]

Valerie frowns. She hands him a small vial. "Drink this. It'll make you feel better, my love." She must have waited too long to give him the new drugs.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos stares down at the vial, something screaming in him not to. "Why?" He tries to hand it back to her, why is he in a party in Hydra? He frowns and looks around quickly. "Valerie..."

[valerie-patton]

"It will make you feel better," Valerie repeats. She panics internally at the growing clarity in Carlos' eyes. No. She will not lose him, not now.. she needs him. "Drink it, Carlos."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and shakes his head, memories starting to surface. "You- you run Hydra!" He stumbles back from her, betrayal flashing in his eyes. The party has gone a bit quiet, people glancing their way.

[valerie-patton]

"No, Carlos, we run Hydra." Valerie pulls him back against her, trying to make it look like they were having a moment to the onlookers. She cant' force drugs down his throat in front of them, even if it's a bit of a unkept secret he's drugged. She pours the vial into her own mouth instead, knowing she's immune, and kisses him.

"No! No we were supposed destroy it!" Carlos tries to pull away from Valerie, but he's not match to her strength. This isn't right- He needs to stop- the thought is cut off by the kiss, He gasps and grabs at her shoulders, trying to shove her away.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie holds the kiss just long enough that, hopefully, the drugs will have gotten into his system. She pulls back. "Are you feeling better, dear?"

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos coughs and steps back, wiping his mouth. He winces. "Val?" He frowns and glances around, starting to relax, eyes glazing over. "Yeah... sorry-"

[valerie-patton]

Valerie relaxes when he does. Oh, thank god. "Dont be sorry. Do you want to go lie down?" She offers.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos nods and winces. "My head hurts." He leans into her side. Rumlow shuffles over from the other side of the room. "I can take him to his quarters for you, Ma'am." He reaches for Carlos.

Valerie wraps an arm tighter around Carlos. She doesn't trust Rumlow as far as she can throw him, even now. "That's alright, agent. I won't be long."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos leans into Valerie and glared at Rumlow. "Go, we don't need you." He snaps. Rumlow lifts up his hands. "Fine, fine... just offering." He walks away, shaking his head.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie starts leading him away. "You know i would never let those people hurt you, right?" She says softly.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos looks up and smiles softly at her, he loves her so much. "I know." He leans his head onto her shoulder.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie softens. "Good, good. Carlos, you support what we're doing here, right?" She jsut needs to hear it.

Carlos hesitates for a second, that feels wrong but... "Yes, yes I support it." He nods slowly.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie softens. "Good." Sh's going to have to fix the medicine he's taking. He shouldn't be questioning things like this."

Carlos nods slowly. He shifts and tucks into her side, biting his lip, he feels off. He brushes a hand over his forehead shakily.

Valerie leads him back to their quarters, carefully avoiding any agents walking around. "You need to rest."

"But the gala..." Carlos protests as she leads him, he leans heavily into her.

[valerie-patton]

"The gala will be fine if I'm the only one there for a while," Valerie promises him.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos nods. "Alright..." His expression is slightly off, like he knows he shouldn't be okay with what's happening.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie frowns. She doesn't like this at all. She kisses his head gently. "Come on, love. You clearly need your rest."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos nods slowly. "Okay..." He frowns and sits on the edge of the bed, brow furrowing, he rubs his forehead. "Valerie..." He trails off and shakes his head.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie turns to leave, but stills when Carlos asks after her. "Yes?" She asks, turning back to him and looking at him gently, for a moment seeming almost like who she wass before her anger overtook her.

Carlos softens when he sees the gentleness. He lays down and shakes his head. "Nothing... I'm alright." He lets his eyes slip closed, it's fine... this is fine, right?

[valerie-patton]

"Good. Good." Valerie leans down and kisses his head sweetly. "I love you. This is for the best," she promises him. She gently brushes his hair out of his eyes.

[carlos-thatcher]

"I love you too..." Cause he does, everything okay... He smiles softly at her touch, reaching up to shakily touch her arm.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie smiles softly and leans down to kiss her again. "Get some rest, my love."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos melts into the kiss then nods, curling up in the bed. If Valerie says it's right... whatever she stands for must be right.

Valerie slips away back to the ball once he falls asleep, but she's proccupied the entire rest of the night, thinking about him.

Carlos wakes up a few hours later, frowning and pushing himself up on his elbows, looking around the room carefully, it's empty still.

Valerie might have gotten a touch drunk in her concern over Carlos' state at the gala... she stumbles back to their room..

Carlos glances up when the door opens, he's still tired, rubbing at his head, trying to make sense of everything. "Val...?"

"Yes, Carlos?" Valerie slips into their room and flops onto the bed beside him, pulling him close.

Carlos blinks in surprise but let's her pull him close. "Hi... you were gone for a while."

[valerie-patton]

"Lotsa people to talk to," Valerie replies, he an smell the alchohol on her as she snuggles down.

Carlos frowns a bit and snuggling with her, but scrunches his nose. "Why do you smell like alcohol?" He pushes her away a little.

[valerie-patton]

"Had a couple drinks," Valerie answers, frowning when he pushes her away from him.

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos rolls over fully. "I'd rather not lay down with you right now, then." He tucks a blanket to his chest.

[valerie-patton]

Valerie sits up and frowns. "Whys'not?" She asks, seemingly confused by the behaviour.

Carlos frowns and curls up further on the bed. "I don't like it, I don't like you being drunk."

[valerie-patton]

"I'm not drunk," Valerie protests. "I can shower if y'don't like the smell... I'm not drunk."

[carlos-thatcher]

"Why did you drink?" Carlos props himself up on his elbows, frowning a bit. He feels off. "I thought you were supposed to be in control and in charge."

[valerie-patton]

Valerie sits up to look at him. "I am in control. We were celebrating! They had my stuff, thats all..."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and pushes his hair back. "Leaders shouldn't drink a lot." He frowns and looks away.

[valerie-patton]

"Leaders also shouldn't have a stick up their ass constantly," Valerie replies. "I need to let them see me less cold."

"But why? Hydra is all about being cold." He frowns and tucks his legs underneath himself.

[valerie-patton]

"Yeah, but i cant get by on fear alone," Valerie says, looking down. "I need them to see me as an equal."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and leans back against the wall. "What are we even doing Valerie? Why are you running Hydra? We were supposed to destroy it." He winces and touches his head.

"Because this is better,"Valerie insists. "They cant hurt us now... we were never going to be able to destroy it..."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos frowns and shuffles back, the drugs obviously mot working as well as they have before. "But we had Shield, we could destroy Hydra, Valerie. What do you even plan to do with it?",

[valerie-patton]

Valerie hesitates. Why aren't the drugs working? "I'll do something,"she says, looking away from Carlos. "I cant just let them get away with everything."

[carlos-thatcher]

Carlos shuffles down into the bed, frowning and tugging at his hair for a moment. "We don't... hurt anyone anymore, rivht?"

[valerie-patton]

"No one who doesn't deserve it," Valerie tells him, pulling the blankets back over herself after a moment.

Carlos frowns but nods, shuffling further under the blanket, his brow furrowed as he thinks.

"Carlos..." Val shifts to look at him. "Dont worry about this, okay? Let me handle it.."

Carlos looks to her, biting his lip for a moment before he nods. "Okay..." But something still feels off. He rolls away to sleep.

Lo has her hands pressed to her face, fighting back tears. She's pregnant, which was never supoosed to happen. She tips her head back against the wall, tears running down her face.

Lo can't show the emotions around anyone, Hydra expects her to be happy about carrying a child for Hydra, her father is thrilled. But Lo never wanted this, to have a child in Hydra? That's no life for a child. But now that it's happened, everyone in Hydra is happy, Pierce is getting a grandchild.

Lo is determined to keep the baby safe, she's guessing she's getting pretty close to her due date, and she's... scared. Lo hears a knock on her door, she winces and looks away. She doesn't want to see anyone.

Val had been furious when he'd found out Lo was pregnant, or as furious as an asset could be. It wasn't his baby, and while he wasn't a possessive man he did hate the thought of her hurt. Once he was over that fury, though, he did everything he could to get temporarily transferred to being her guard so he didn't have to leave her unprotected.

"It's just me, Lo," he murmurs at the door.

Lo gets to her feet and pushes the door open, quickly wiping her tears away. "Val, I'm... I'm fine." She walks back into her room, hands resting on her stomach, tears prick at her eyes as she stares off. "I'm fine. Everything alright?" She swallows thickly and glances back to him.

"Youre not." He looks at Lo, not even bothering to hide his concern, and follows her back into her room. "I was sent to check up on you," he admits slowly.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo shakes her head, walking further into the room. "By who?" She swipes a tear away, she can't cry- She glances back to Val, trying to hide the blatant pain on her face.

[valerie-patton]

"Your father." He looks a little disgruntled by that, he hates Pierce but.. "He's concerned about the health of the baby..."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo frowns and lowers herself shakily into a chair. "The babies fine." She shakes her head angrily. She really hasn't been accepting any medical help then necessary. She rests her hand lightly on her stomach.

[valerie-patton]

"You look hurt..." Val says, his voice soft. He comes and sits down beside Lo, hating to see her in pain. "I know the doctors are awful, but please, Lo...'

[carlos-thatcher]

"I'm just a little sore." Lo mumbles, resting her head on Val's shoulder. "I don't want those doctors anywhere near my baby." She frowns down at her stomach, she's far into her pregnancy, near her due date. "I'll be fine."

[valerie-patton]

"How are you going to give birth without a doctor, hm?" Val shakes her head, one hand moving to tentatively rest on the baby bump. "I wish i could do more."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo frowns and tips her head back. "I don't know... but I can't let Hydra doctors get their hands on my baby." She glances down at Val's hand, blinking back tears. "I wasn't supposed to get pregnant- not by... by someone else."

[valerie-patton]

"I know." Val cant watch another child be raised the same way thay he was. He looks down at his hand also. "Lo... can i.." He swallows. They havent talked about it yet. "...whose is it?"

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo shifts and rests his head on Val's shoulder, taking a few shaky breaths. She closes her eyes, hand resting lightly on her bump. She knew they would have to talk about this eventually, no matter how much she doesn't want to. "It's White's." She whispers, sounding devestated.

[valerie-patton]

Val feels sick. Of all the people to do it... he suddenly understands twice as much why she was so hesitant to talk about it. He gently strokes over the bump. "Did he- god, im so sorry, Lo... was it on purpose...?'

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo wants to cry at how gentle his touch is. She closes her eyes and takes a few shaky breaths. "No, not on purpose. He cornered me at a party, tried to tell him no, but father saw and encouraged it, I couldn't say no." Her voice gets tight as she speaks, her hands clenched at her sides.

[valerie-patton]

Val wants to murder White. Pierce too. "Im so sorry," he whispers instead. He leans down and kissed her head. "I wish I could have been there, I could've..." Done nothing, actually.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo shakes her head. "There's nothing you could've done." She smiles shakily at the kiss, resting a hand on her stomach again. "I'm not letting White get his hands on my child, or anyone in Hydra." The baby kicks gently against Val's hand.

[valerie-patton]

"I could've tried to take your place, I could have done something." He knows its stupid to say but hes just so furious that this happened to Lo. "I know. I'll protect them, as much as i can..." He smiles though, when the baby kicks. "Hi, there..."

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know, I know you would've helped me. But it's over, I'm pregnant, I'm pregnant and there's nothing I can do." Lo chokes down a sob at her words, she stares up at the ceiling, desperately trying to stay in control. She softens at Val's smile. "Are they kicking?"

[valerie-patton]

Val is just so furious for her. "You know anything you need, I'll do?" He asks, knowing there are limitations on both of them. He kissed her head again and nods. "Yeah, they are..."

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know." Lo whispers, tears in her eyes. "I knos." She softens at the kiss, always does. She smiles and places her hand next to Val's. "Hey baby..." She whispers shakily, she just wants to keep them safe-

[valerie-patton]

Val nods. He looks down at Lo and the baby bump. "I've gotta get you outta here," he murmurs, a reversal of their usual roles. "I cant let this baby grow up here.."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo looks up, it's so strange to have their roles reversed. She rests her hand protectively on her bump. "I won't leave here unless you leave with me, but I need my baby safe." She whispers, pain in her voice.

[valerie-patton]

"There's no way all three of us get out of here yet," Val points out. He drops his hand and paces. "I'll figure something out. Ill sneak you out... something.. is Wh.. is he intending to help raise them?"

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know but I'm not letting you stay here. I'll... I'll have someone in Shield raise my baby, I can't leave you here." Lo bites her lip, rubbing her stomach anxiously. She shakes her head. "I think he is, I can't let him, I won't."

[valerie-patton]

"Lo, its okay.." Val says gently. "How are you gonna explain your baby disappearing, hm?" He shakes his head. "God, I hate him... that bastard, I swear to god..'

[carlos-thatcher]

"It's not okay! Nothing about this is okay!" Lo bursts out, she drops back against her chair, breathing heavily, It's rare for her to lose her control. "I don't know Val- I'm sorry, I'm sorry-" She covers her face with her hands.

[valerie-patton]

Val winces. Its bad when Lo gets this out of control. He sits down in front of her. "Lo, look at me. We're going to figure this out, okay?" He smiles weakly. "I'll do whatever I have to to get you two safe."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo looks up shakily, meeting Val's eyes. "Okay-" She whispers shakily, not used to feeling this out of control, she shifts and wraps her arms around Val best she can with her stomach. "I'm sorry, I'm... overwhelmed."

"Dont be sorry. It's okay." He kisses Lo's head gently and then looks down at her. "Do you want me to stay here tonight? I can probably be okay to..." Might take a little bargaining but he could do it.

Lo kisses Val's shoulder gently before leaning back. "I would like that if you can manage it, without getting into too much trouble." She frowns and looks down, wincing and gasping in pain. "Braxton Hicks-" She wraps her arms around her stomach.

"I'll see what i can do. Give me an hour or so." He smiles a little and then immediately focuses on her, holding her. "Breathe, sweetheart... I've got you.."

Lo leans into Valerie, breathing heavily. She closes her eyes and just tries to focus on the feeling of Val. She scrunches her nose up in pain.

[valerie-patton]

"That's it," Val encourages. "Just breathe. You're doing great." He rubs her back gently, trying to help her through the pain.

Lo takes a few deep breaths, resting her head on Val's shoulder. "I swear if this baby comes early-" She winces and bites her lip, holding on harder to Val.

"If they come early, then we'll figure something out," Val promises her. He smiles reassuringly, continuing to rub her back in the hopes that it helps.

Lo takes a few slow breaths, nodding shakily, she curls into Val best she can with her baby bump. "Have you seen father recently?" She whispers, she's been avoiding him at all costs.

Val holds her as best he can, then sighs. "...yeah. He's been around," he hedges. Truth be told, Pierce had been on Val's ass about getting to see Lo.

Lo curses and shakes her head, pulling back to lean against the wall, running her hands over her stomach. "Has he said anything to you?" She scrunches her nose up.

(au rp! This is an au I've been working on! Carlos has about three main aus- Basically Carlos is like Pierce's puppet, he never escaped Hydra at eighteen.)

Carlos sits by Pierce in a meeting, tracing small patterns into the table, only mildly paying attention to what's going on. He's not exactly a high ranking officer. Everyone in Hydra knows Carlos is basically Pierce's pet.

Pierce reaches out and strokes his hand through Carlos hair, Carlos immediately leans into the touch, he craves it. He's also enhanced, augments all throughout his body, Pierce tests a lot of Hydra ideas on his son.

Carlos eyes flick up to one of the people in the meeting, he glances them over carefully, their eyes meeting for a brief moment, before he shifts to lean into Pierce's touch. His eyes never leaving the person. It's the most aware of himself he's looked in... months.

Avis Destiny keeps his eyes on Carlos. he'd hung out with the other young man when he (Destiny) first arrived here as a lonely teenager desperate for company. It was sickening to watch the life drain out of his friend's eyes, although by now he was mostly accostomed to it.

When Carlos' eyes meet his, Avis smiles. The full faced, eyes twinkling smile that had earned him many teasing names. Sunshine. He leans an elbow against the table, keeping his eyes on Carlos.

The very ghost of a smile appears on Carlos face, he leans into Pierce's side. Pierce notices Carlos looking at Destiny and glares. "Carlos! You know better!" He snaps and backhands him hard, Carlos makes a small noise and jerks to the side, pain clear in his expression for a second before it smooths out.

Destiny starts, not sure what had been wrong about them making eye contact. For a moment, he stares at Pierce, his lips pressed into a frown, then he ducked his head and stared angerly at the table. He remembered enough of his own father to know that's not how you're supposed to treat your kid.

Pierce tugs Carlos roughly into his arms. "I apologize, it seems Carlos here forget his place for a moment." He frowns down at Carlos. Carlos keeps his eyes on the floor for a long moment before they flick to Destiny again.

"My apologies." Destiny puts on a perfect apologetic smile. "I hadn't intended to distract him, or indeed to cause a distruption at all."

"Well he shouldn't get distracted, no matter what's happening." Pierce glares at Carlos, Carlos eyes flick away, eyes blank. "Sorry father..."

Destiny bites back the urge to shout angerly. Instead, he just puts his head in his hands for a moment while he schools his expression. "Right. I'm sorry, do continue."

Piece nods and goes back to talking. Carlos stays tucked into his side, occasionally glancing Desinty's way. "Destiny, would you take Carlos back to my quarters? I have a meeting to attend to." Pierce says a while later.

"Yes, sir." Destiny was careful to keep his expression neutral. He turns, expecting Carlos to follow. The moment Pierce is out of sight, he reaches out to take Carlos's hand. "Carlos?"

Carlos hand is cold in Destiny's, most of it is made of metal, it wasn't like that when Destiny first met him. He blinks blankly at Destiny, metal runs up his throat in thin lines, his right eye blinded, metal around it.

Destiny's throat tightens. He can't help but wonder if his friend is still in there somewhere, or if Peirce has fully succeeded in killing the person Carlos' used to be. "Say something, please?"

Carlos blinks and his fingers curl around Destiny's hand ever so slightly. "Say something?" His voice is raw, off sounding. His brow furrows with confusion, he's not supposed to talk...

Destiny takes a quick breath of relief. He didn't dare tell Carlos that he'd asked because of an argument in which Pierce had threatened to cut out his tongue, or worse, have his vocal cords surgically removed. Destiny squeezes his hand, turning to continue leading him down the hall. "You can talk to me, you know? When we're alone. No one is going to know."

Carlos walks after him, they small clang of a metal foot hitting the floor as they walk. "I'm not supposed to talk. Not supposed to think or talk." He glances Destiny over, looking like he recognizes him for a second before it disappears. He winces at the thought of what will happen if he's caught talking. HE looks around the halls. "Where's Father?"

"In a meeting." He hoped. Unless this was a test. If it was he'd failed the moment he touched Carlos. He bites his lip, unsure what to say. "I'm sorry. You don't have to talk. I shouldn't have asked that of you."

"Oh." Carlos mumbles, tripping over his feet as they walk. "You're... familiar?" He winces, he's not supposed to say things like that, he's not supposed to remember people.

That comment brings an awful stinging feeling to Destiny's eyes. He slows down so Carlos can keep up more easily. "We used to know each other."

Carlos presses a hand to his forehead and winces, metal fingers tapping against the metal around his eye. "I'm not supposed to know anyone..."

"Why not?" Destiny comes to a halt, reaching out to touch his face. "Does your head hurt?"

Carlos immediately leans into Destiny's hand, he's trained to do that. "Not supposed to remember people, I'm a weapon for father." He looks to Destiny. "Head always hurts."

"I'm sorry." He hesitates, then pulls Carlos into a hug. "I'm sorry... I wish you didn't have to go through this. I wish I could help you. Here, you stay here and i'll get you something to help with the head, okay?"

Carlos stiffens up, like he doesn't know how to hug, he slowly lifts one hand and pats Destiny's back. "I'm becoming good... I'm the son of Hydra." He mumbles, like it's been told to him time and time again. "Have to get White for my head... he's in the lab." Carlos blinks a few times. "Your names Destiny."

Sienna waited slightly as her eyes shifted around, she's been so worried as of late. Especially since she's been blocking her out, she was supposed to be her midwife.

"Lo....I need to check on you darlin'." Her eyes shimmer for a second as she fidgets with her ring. She taps her foot slightly as she waits.

"I'd rather not today." Lo calls out, stating at the wall off to the side, she rests her hands carefully over her stomach, blinking back tears. "I feel fine." She's been refusing any check ups. Anything she can refuse, she does.

Sienna tilts her head as she frowns at this, "...Please dear. I just wanna check on you." Her curls swayed as she looks around. She switched her language- "Amore, per favore... sono preoccupato"

Lo lets out a slow breath, tucking her hair back. "I know... but I'm okay, really. The baby feels fine." She rubs her stomach lightly. She softens at the other language. "I'm okay, Amore, I am." She looks away, hiding the tears that are springing into her eyes again.

Sienna nods her head as a low whine escaped her. She looks around as she taps her feet, "Okay...." She was about to leave then, she was sad she hasn't seen her in almost nine months.

"Wait- you don't have to go." Lo tries to stand, grabbing Sienna's wrist. She drops her hand down and looks down at her baby bump, tears in hed eyes. "Sienna, this wasn't supposed to happen." She covers her face with one hand.

Sienna felt the door open, she looks down as she thinks. Her hands gently scoops her face into hers as she pressed her forehead to her's. "...I know...I understand...I do..*

Lo lets out a shaky breath, pressing herself close to Sienna. "They're going to take my baby- father won't let me raise them the way I want to..." She touches her stomach, wincing a bit. "This wasn't supposed to happen-" Lo hasn't told Sienna who the father is.

Sienna nods her head as she slips into the room with her. Shutting the door finally so they can speak together. "Hey hey... it'll be okay I promise..." She knelt before her as she stares up with tears herself. "We'll figure it out..." She was already planning, "...we can always run away still..."

Lo looks down at her, tears steaming down her face. "I can't just leave... they might find me and take my baby, that's what happened to my mother-" She shakes her head, feeling just overwhelmed from it all. She winces and grabs her stomach. "Ow- they're kicking-"

"..Oh sweetie..." She was sympathetic as she gently rubs her belly. "Sweetie...you gotta be careful. Your poor mum doesn't need you being mean..." She spoke to her belly.

Lo covers her face with her hands, trying to stay in control. The baby kicks Sienna's hand gently. Lo rests her hand carefully on hed stomach, by Sienna's hand. "I'm sorry this happened." She whispers, she'd missed Sienna, even if Lo had been the one locking herself away mostly, and her father. "I haven't gone to any medical exams." She admits quietly.

Sienna nods her head as she thinks. "It's okay... I don't blame you. I did the same for the most part..." She softly sighs out as she rubs her hand up and down. "I'm sorry...you felt like you had to hide..."

Tears slips down her cheeks that she's been trying so desperately to not let fall. "I didn't want anyone to see me... or... or talk about my child." She touches Sienna's hand, staring down at her baby bump.

She closes her eyes again, trying to focus on just the feeling of Sienna. "I regret pushing you away, I was..." She trails off, unable to find the words.

"You don't have to tell me." She whispers softly as she nods her head. She pressed a soft kiss to her belly as she stood up, a simple smile to her lips as she pulls her in for a even gentler hug. "I just missed you..."

Lo watches her, tears in her eyes at how soft and gentle Sienna is being. She shifts and hugs her best she can with her bump. "I missed you so much- Sienna..." She chokes back a sob, she doesn't want to cry- She hides her face in Sienna's shoulder. "This was never supposed to happen-"

Sienna holds her closer as she rubs her back gently. She let her feel the emotions as she runs a hand through her hair. "...It's okay...it's okay I'm here now dear. I promise I'm here no matter what..."

Pierce reaches out and strokes his hand through Carlos hair, Carlos immediately leans into the touch, he craves it. He's also enhanced, augments all throughout his body, Pierce tests a lot of Hydra ideas on his son.

Carlos eyes flick up to one of the people in the meeting, he glances them over carefully, their eyes meeting for a brief moment, before he shifts to lean into Pierce's touch. His eyes never leaving the person. It's the most aware of himself he's looked in... months.

When Carlos' eyes meet his, Avis smiles. The full faced, eyes twinkling smile that had earned him many teasing names. Sunshine. He leans an elbow against the table, keeping his eyes on Carlos.

Pierce tugs Carlos roughly into his arms. "I apologize, it seems Carlos here forget his place for a moment." He frowns down at Carlos. Carlos keeps his eyes on the floor for a long moment before they flick to Destiny again.

"My apologies." Destiny puts on a perfect apologetic smile. "I hadn't intended to distract him, or indeed to cause a distruption at all."

Carlos hand is cold in Destiny's, most of it is made of metal, it wasn't like that when Destiny first met him. He blinks blankly at Destiny, metal runs up his throat in thin lines, his right eye blinded, metal around it.

Destiny's throat tightens. He can't help but wonder if his friend is still in there somewhere, or if Peirce has fully succeeded in killing the person Carlos' used to be. "Say something, please?"

He didn't dare tell Carlos that he'd asked because of an argument in which Pierce had threatened to cut out his tongue, or worse, have his vocal cords surgically removed. Destiny squeezes his hand, turning to continue leading him down the hall. "You can talk to me, you know? When we're alone. No one is going to know."

Carlos walks after him, they small clang of a metal foot hitting the floor as they walk. "I'm not supposed to talk. Not supposed to think or talk." He glances Destiny over, looking like he recognizes him for a second before it disappears. He winces at the thought of what will happen if he's caught talking. HE looks around the halls. "Where's Father?"

"In a meeting." He hoped. Unless this was a test. If it was he'd failed the moment he touched Carlos. He bites his lip, unsure what to say. "I'm sorry. You don't have to talk. I shouldn't have asked that of you."

Lo has her hands pressed to her face, fighting back tears. She's pregnant, which was never supoosed to happen. She tips her head back against the wall, tears running down her face.

Lo can't show the emotions around anyone, Hydra expects her to be happy about carrying a child for Hydra, her father is thrilled. But Lo never wanted this, to have a child in Hydra? That's no life for a child. But now that it's happened, everyone in Hydra is happy, Pierce is getting a grandchild.

Lo is determined to keep the baby safe, she's guessing she's getting pretty close to her due date, and she's... scared. Lo hears a knock on her door, she winces and looks away. She doesn't want to see anyone.

Val had been furious when he'd found out Lo was pregnant, or as furious as an asset could be. It wasn't his baby, and while he wasn't a possessive man he did hate the thought of her hurt. Once he was over that fury, though, he did everything he could to get temporarily transferred to being her guard so he didn't have to leave her unprotected.

"It's just me, Lo," he murmurs at the door.

Lo gets to her feet and pushes the door open, quickly wiping her tears away. "Val, I'm... I'm fine." She walks back into her room, hands resting on her stomach, tears prick at her eyes as she stares off. "I'm fine. Everything alright?" She swallows thickly and glances back to him.

"Youre not." He looks at Lo, not even bothering to hide his concern, and follows her back into her room. "I was sent to check up on you," he admits slowly.

Lo shakes her head, walking further into the room. "By who?" She swipes a tear away, she can't cry- She glances back to Val, trying to hide the blatant pain on her face.

"Your father." He looks a little disgruntled by that, he hates Pierce but.. "He's concerned about the health of the baby..."

Lo frowns and lowers herself shakily into a chair. "The babies fine." She shakes her head angrily. She really hasn't been accepting any medical help then necessary. She rests her hand lightly on her stomach.

"You look hurt..." Val says, his voice soft. He comes and sits down beside Lo, hating to see her in pain. "I know the doctors are awful, but please, Lo...'

"I'm just a little sore." Lo mumbles, resting her head on Val's shoulder. "I don't want those doctors anywhere near my baby." She frowns down at her stomach, she's far into her pregnancy, near her due date. "I'll be fine."

"How are you going to give birth without a doctor, hm?" Val shakes her head, one hand moving to tentatively rest on the baby bump. "I wish i could do more."

Lo frowns and tips her head back. "I don't know... but I can't let Hydra doctors get their hands on my baby." She glances down at Val's hand, blinking back tears. "I wasn't supposed to get pregnant- not by... by someone else."

"I know." Val cant watch another child be raised the same way thay he was. He looks down at his hand also. "Lo... can i.." He swallows. They havent talked about it yet. "...whose is it?"

Lo shifts and rests his head on Val's shoulder, taking a few shaky breaths. She closes her eyes, hand resting lightly on her bump. She knew they would have to talk about this eventually, no matter how much she doesn't want to. "It's White's." She whispers, sounding devestated.

Val feels sick. Of all the people to do it... he suddenly understands twice as much why she was so hesitant to talk about it. He gently strokes over the bump. "Did he- god, im so sorry, Lo... was it on purpose...?'

Lo wants to cry at how gentle his touch is. She closes her eyes and takes a few shaky breaths. "No, not on purpose. He cornered me at a party, tried to tell him no, but father saw and encouraged it, I couldn't say no." Her voice gets tight as she speaks, her hands clenched at her sides.

Val wants to murder White. Pierce too. "Im so sorry," he whispers instead. He leans down and kissed her head. "I wish I could have been there, I could've..." Done nothing, actually.

Lo shakes her head. "There's nothing you could've done." She smiles shakily at the kiss, resting a hand on her stomach again. "I'm not letting White get his hands on my child, or anyone in Hydra." The baby kicks gently against Val's hand.

"I could've tried to take your place, I could have done something." He knows its stupid to say but hes just so furious that this happened to Lo. "I know. I'll protect them, as much as i can..." He smiles though, when the baby kicks. "Hi, there..."

"I know, I know you would've helped me. But it's over, I'm pregnant, I'm pregnant and there's nothing I can do." Lo chokes down a sob at her words, she stares up at the ceiling, desperately trying to stay in control. She softens at Val's smile. "Are they kicking?"

Val is just so furious for her. "You know anything you need, I'll do?" He asks, knowing there are limitations on both of them. He kissed her head again and nods. "Yeah, they are..."

"I know." Lo whispers, tears in her eyes. "I knos." She softens at the kiss, always does. She smiles and places her hand next to Val's. "Hey baby..." She whispers shakily, she just wants to keep them safe-

"There's no way all three of us get out of here yet," Val points out. He drops his hand and paces. "I'll figure something out. Ill sneak you out... something.. is Wh.. is he intending to help raise them?"

"I know but I'm not letting you stay here. I'll... I'll have someone in Shield raise my baby, I can't leave you here." Lo bites her lip, rubbing her stomach anxiously. She shakes her head. "I think he is, I can't let him, I won't."

"Lo, its okay.." Val says gently. "How are you gonna explain your baby disappearing, hm?" He shakes his head. "God, I hate him... that bastard, I swear to god..'

"I'd rather not today." Lo calls out, stating at the wall off to the side, she rests her hands carefully over her stomach, blinking back tears. "I feel fine." She's been refusing any check ups. Anything she can refuse, she does.

Sienna tilts her head as she frowns at this, "...Please dear. I just wanna check on you." Her curls swayed as she looks around. She switched her language- "Amore, per favore... sono preoccupato"

Lo lets out a slow breath, tucking her hair back. "I know... but I'm okay, really. The baby feels fine." She rubs her stomach lightly. She softens at the other language. "I'm okay, Amore, I am." She looks away, hiding the tears that are springing into her eyes again.

Sienna nods her head as a low whine escaped her. She looks around as she taps her feet, "Okay...." She was about to leave then, she was sad she hasn't seen her in almost nine months.

"Wait- you don't have to go." Lo tries to stand, grabbing Sienna's wrist. She drops her hand down and looks down at her baby bump, tears in hed eyes. "Sienna, this wasn't supposed to happen." She covers her face with one hand.

Sienna felt the door open, she looks down as she thinks. Her hands gently scoops her face into hers as she pressed her forehead to her's. "...I know...I understand...I do..*

Lo lets out a shaky breath, pressing herself close to Sienna. "They're going to take my baby- father won't let me raise them the way I want to..." She touches her stomach, wincing a bit. "This wasn't supposed to happen-" Lo hasn't told Sienna who the father is.

Sienna nods her head as she slips into the room with her. Shutting the door finally so they can speak together. "Hey hey... it'll be okay I promise..." She knelt before her as she stares up with tears herself. "We'll figure it out..." She was already planning, "...we can always run away still..."

Lo looks down at her, tears steaming down her face. "I can't just leave... they might find me and take my baby, that's what happened to my mother-" She shakes her head, feeling just overwhelmed from it all. She winces and grabs her stomach. "Ow- they're kicking-"

"..Oh sweetie..." She was sympathetic as she gently rubs her belly. "Sweetie...you gotta be careful. Your poor mum doesn't need you being mean..." She spoke to her belly.

Lo covers her face with her hands, trying to stay in control. The baby kicks Sienna's hand gently. Lo rests her hand carefully on hed stomach, by Sienna's hand. "I'm sorry this happened." She whispers, she'd missed Sienna, even if Lo had been the one locking herself away mostly, and her father. "I haven't gone to any medical exams." She admits quietly.

Sienna nods her head as she thinks. "It's okay... I don't blame you. I did the same for the most part..." She softly sighs out as she rubs her hand up and down. "I'm sorry...you felt like you had to hide..."

Tears slips down her cheeks that she's been trying so desperately to not let fall. "I didn't want anyone to see me... or... or talk about my child." She touches Sienna's hand, staring down at her baby bump.

She closes her eyes again, trying to focus on just the feeling of Sienna. "I regret pushing you away, I was..." She trails off, unable to find the words.

"You don't have to tell me." She whispers softly as she nods her head. She pressed a soft kiss to her belly as she stood up, a simple smile to her lips as she pulls her in for a even gentler hug. "I just missed you..."

Lo watches her, tears in her eyes at how soft and gentle Sienna is being. She shifts and hugs her best she can with her bump. "I missed you so much- Sienna..." She chokes back a sob, she doesn't want to cry- She hides her face in Sienna's shoulder. "This was never supposed to happen-"

Sienna holds her closer as she rubs her back gently. She let her feel the emotions as she runs a hand through her hair. "...It's okay...it's okay I'm here now dear. I promise I'm here no matter what..."

Lo clings to her, gasping back her sobs. "I can't let the baby be raised by Hydra-" She winces and rubs her stomach. "I swear the baby kicks all the time-" She buries closer to Sienna.

Sienna nods her head as she hums. "I'm sorry my dear... I'm so sorry. I wish I could carry them for you..." She sighs a bit

Lo shakes her head. "It wouldn't make a difference- they're still going to be raised in these walls-" She whispers out devestated, tears spilling over her cheeks as she is just utterly overwhelmed. "I want my baby safe, that's all I want."

Sienna frowns as she nods her head. She gently brushed her hair back as she sighs. "I know...I agree.." she looks around for a second. She didn't know what else to do, if only they could run away.

Lo winces and leans into Sienna. "I don't- I need to keep them safe." She frowns and lets out a sharp sound of pain, touching her stomach, cursing under her breath.

*They were pacing around the house, not registering that they had pressed the panic button. Carlos was going to kill them. He probably would never want to talk to them again. How the hell were they going to explain that they had lost the stone to the wedding ring, to the one that he had so lovingly given them that was from his first wife?? They slide down the wall in the kitchen, letting out a sob and burying their face in their arms that are propped against their knees.

Carlos bursts into the room, his gun raised, he scans the room carefully before his eyes land on Anna. "Anna! What happened?" He lowers his gun and drops down in front of them, eyes full of worry. "What happened?" He brushes their tears away.

*They tense, trying to scoot away from him, trying to get out of his gentle grip.* “No, you’re gonna be so disappointed at me, you’re never gonna want to speak to me again, I fucked up so bad, Carlos. So bad. I-“ *They sob harder, their fingers locking around the ring, they weren’t even sure how he was there, how he had found them, to be honest.*

Carlos looks utterly confused. "Anna. Hey, take a breath, I'm not going to be mad, or disappointed, there is nothing you can do that will make me not speak to you, take a breath and tell me what happened." His voice is so very gentle. He touches their shoulder lightly, incredibly worried.

*They squeak, twisting away from him and standing up to start pacing around the room.* “You are, you’re gonna be disappointed or upset, and not want to talk to me, at least for a while and-“ *They cut themselves off with a whine, picking at some scabs that were on the arm that had locked up.* “Carlos, I just need you to know how sorry I am and that I will do whatever you want me to do, to fix it.”

I’m so sorry, it was when I was gardening in the back, and I noticed it when I came inside, I searched the whole night and I couldn’t find anything, and I didn’t know what to do, but I didn’t want to call you until I found it and-“

Carlos eyes drops down to the ring, he goes a bit quiet, blinking slowly. "Oh..." He quickly swipes a tear off his cheek. "Um, that's... that's not great, but I'm not angry at you, accidents happen." He shifts and takes their hand, pressing a kiss to their knuckles, a few tears slipping over. "It's alright..."

*They let out a quiet sob, their eyes searching his with pure sadness, hurt, and guilt.* “How are you not angry at me when I lost the stone from the ring that was from Lillian?? How are you not more upset at me, or disappointed, or just-“ *They cut themselves off with a louder sob when he takes their hand to kiss their knuckles, collapsing into his arms, desperately wanting him to hold them.*

So maybe the stone falling out was a sign for me to finally get the courage to ask you.” *Their breathing gets a little faster as they try to think of how to word their question.*

“Tell me about more childhood stuff. Like different favorite places you got to go and things like that.” *They lean into his side as they get out a bunch of different spices.* “I can tell you stories about my childhood too.”

Carlos nods and smiles softly, starting to cut up some carrots. "There was a bookstore right by my mother and I's flat, I used to love to go there, I'd hide away in the back and write." He smiles fondly at the memory. "My friends used to come and get me from there before school, they were always jealous I didn't live in the dorms."

“Why were they jealous that you didn’t live in the dorms?” *They look at him curiously, grabbing a bowl to put the vegetables in, turning on some quiet music and swaying slightly.*

Carlos chuckles softly. "Because I could get away with things they couldn't, and I could leave and go places unlike them who had to stay in their dorms after a certain hour." He cuts up a few more carrots and slides them over to Anna to season. "It was a strict boarding school, nice though."

“Did they try to get you to do things that were easier for you to get away with? Like getting things from a store really late when they can’t leave campus, kind of thing?” *They season the carrots, looking over at him.* “Wait, what year did you graduate or were you going to graduate from high school?”

"Oh yeah they definitely did." Carlos grins at the memories. "I was a trouble maker..." He hums and cuts up a bit of garlic. He pauses and thinks for a moment. "1998? I think? I never graduated." His expression turns incredibly sad.

"Oh definitely. One time I dyed some of my hair purple, I stole from the principle, snuck things in..." Carlos smiles fondly. He then frowns and catches their hand before they can pick anymore, he shakes his head. "Hey, no it wasn't. It was just a question with a sad answer. I'm alright."

*They smile at him and then look at his hair.* “We should dye some of your hair. Whoever loses the bet gets their hair dyed. And I have several different hair dye colors too.” *When he catches their hand, they try to push him off twice before giving up and nodding slowly.* “I was born in 2002, and you would have graduated around 1998. Does that make you feel really old?”

Carlos laughs softly. "Just a stand of hair- I am not dyeing all my hair. I had a strand of purple one summer." He holds onto their hands patiently before pulling them into a gentle hug, brushing their hair back. "It does, it really does." He chuckles and kisses their forehead. "Makes me feel even older when I say I was born in 1980."

“Awww, why not?” *They pout, looking up at him with puppy dog eyes, and hugging him gently back, leaning into him brushing their hair out of their face.* “You’re the safest old person I know. I’m just hoping I get a few more years with you before I have to put you in a retirement home.”

"Because..." Carlos grins at them, he kisses their cheek quickly and laughs. "Well, I hope that too. And if you do have to put me away, you better visit." He kisses their forehead, smiling softly. "Did I ever tell you what I planned to do after I graduated? When I didn't know about Hydra."

*They look at him and scoff playfully.* “You’re not getting rid of me, I’m gonna go live with you at the retirement home.” *They lean into his kiss on their forehead, and shake their head.* “I don’t think so, I don’t think you’ve ever told me that before.” *They reach up and kiss his forehead softly, and think for a second.* “This is kinda stupid, but when we put the food in the oven, can you re teach me how to dance?”

"Aw, good." Carlos brushes their hair back. He hums softly and nods, kissing their cheek. "I was going to write, publish books, and I wanted to be a teacher..." He rests his cheek on top of their head. "I would love to do that... it's been a while."

*They smile at him, so much love in their eyes.* “Well, I think you are a great writer, from the little things you’ve let me read. And you’re a great teacher too. You’ve taught me more about life and just about everything than my old parents ever did. You’re the safest teacher that anyone would ever be lucky to have.” *They glance towards the food, their nose scrunching up.* “What else do we have to do?”

“But I-“ *They turn and grumble quietly, setting up their speaker and connecting their phone to the Bluetooth, turning on some calm, 40s music that would transition into other soft music they had danced to before.* “Okay, it’s ready when you are. Oh, I should have given you a head start since you’re so old, that wasn’t totally fair of me to expect you to be able to keep up.”

(au rp! This is an au I've been working on! Carlos has about three main aus- Basically Carlos is like Pierce's puppet, he never escaped Hydra at eighteen.)

Carlos sits by Pierce in a meeting, tracing small patterns into the table, only mildly paying attention to what's going on. He's not exactly a high ranking officer. Everyone in Hydra knows Carlos is basically Pierce's pet.

Pierce reaches out and strokes his hand through Carlos hair, Carlos immediately leans into the touch, he craves it. He's also enhanced, augments all throughout his body, Pierce tests a lot of Hydra ideas on his son.

Carlos eyes flick up to one of the people in the meeting, he glances them over carefully, their eyes meeting for a brief moment, before he shifts to lean into Pierce's touch. His eyes never leaving the person. It's the most aware of himself he's looked in... months.

Avis Destiny keeps his eyes on Carlos. he'd hung out with the other young man when he (Destiny) first arrived here as a lonely teenager desperate for company. It was sickening to watch the life drain out of his friend's eyes, although by now he was mostly accostomed to it.

When Carlos' eyes meet his, Avis smiles. The full faced, eyes twinkling smile that had earned him many teasing names. Sunshine. He leans an elbow against the table, keeping his eyes on Carlos.

The very ghost of a smile appears on Carlos face, he leans into Pierce's side. Pierce notices Carlos looking at Destiny and glares. "Carlos! You know better!" He snaps and backhands him hard, Carlos makes a small noise and jerks to the side, pain clear in his expression for a second before it smooths out.

Destiny starts, not sure what had been wrong about them making eye contact. For a moment, he stares at Pierce, his lips pressed into a frown, then he ducked his head and stared angerly at the table. He remembered enough of his own father to know that's not how you're supposed to treat your kid.

Pierce tugs Carlos roughly into his arms. "I apologize, it seems Carlos here forget his place for a moment." He frowns down at Carlos. Carlos keeps his eyes on the floor for a long moment before they flick to Destiny again.

"My apologies." Destiny puts on a perfect apologetic smile. "I hadn't intended to distract him, or indeed to cause a distruption at all."

"Well he shouldn't get distracted, no matter what's happening." Pierce glares at Carlos, Carlos eyes flick away, eyes blank. "Sorry father..."

Destiny bites back the urge to shout angerly. Instead, he just puts his head in his hands for a moment while he schools his expression. "Right. I'm sorry, do continue."

Piece nods and goes back to talking. Carlos stays tucked into his side, occasionally glancing Desinty's way. "Destiny, would you take Carlos back to my quarters? I have a meeting to attend to." Pierce says a while later.

"Yes, sir." Destiny was careful to keep his expression neutral. He turns, expecting Carlos to follow. The moment Pierce is out of sight, he reaches out to take Carlos's hand. "Carlos?"

Carlos hand is cold in Destiny's, most of it is made of metal, it wasn't like that when Destiny first met him. He blinks blankly at Destiny, metal runs up his throat in thin lines, his right eye blinded, metal around it.

Destiny's throat tightens. He can't help but wonder if his friend is still in there somewhere, or if Peirce has fully succeeded in killing the person Carlos' used to be. "Say something, please?"

Carlos blinks and his fingers curl around Destiny's hand ever so slightly. "Say something?" His voice is raw, off sounding. His brow furrows with confusion, he's not supposed to talk...

Destiny takes a quick breath of relief. He didn't dare tell Carlos that he'd asked because of an argument in which Pierce had threatened to cut out his tongue, or worse, have his vocal cords surgically removed. Destiny squeezes his hand, turning to continue leading him down the hall. "You can talk to me, you know? When we're alone. No one is going to know."

Carlos walks after him, they small clang of a metal foot hitting the floor as they walk. "I'm not supposed to talk. Not supposed to think or talk." He glances Destiny over, looking like he recognizes him for a second before it disappears. He winces at the thought of what will happen if he's caught talking. HE looks around the halls. "Where's Father?"

Lo has her hands pressed to her face, fighting back tears. She's pregnant, which was never supoosed to happen. She tips her head back against the wall, tears running down her face.

Lo can't show the emotions around anyone, Hydra expects her to be happy about carrying a child for Hydra, her father is thrilled. But Lo never wanted this, to have a child in Hydra? That's no life for a child. But now that it's happened, everyone in Hydra is happy, Pierce is getting a grandchild.

Lo is determined to keep the baby safe, she's guessing she's getting pretty close to her due date, and she's... scared. Lo hears a knock on her door, she winces and looks away. She doesn't want to see anyone.

Sienna waited slightly as her eyes shifted around, she's been so worried as of late. Especially since she's been blocking her out, she was supposed to be her midwife.

"Lo....I need to check on you darlin'." Her eyes shimmer for a second as she fidgets with her ring. She taps her foot slightly as she waits.

"I'd rather not today." Lo calls out, stating at the wall off to the side, she rests her hands carefully over her stomach, blinking back tears. "I feel fine." She's been refusing any check ups. Anything she can refuse, she does.

Sienna tilts her head as she frowns at this, "...Please dear. I just wanna check on you." Her curls swayed as she looks around. She switched her language- "Amore, per favore... sono preoccupato"

Lo lets out a slow breath, tucking her hair back. "I know... but I'm okay, really. The baby feels fine." She rubs her stomach lightly. She softens at the other language. "I'm okay, Amore, I am." She looks away, hiding the tears that are springing into her eyes again.

Sienna nods her head as a low whine escaped her. She looks around as she taps her feet, "Okay...." She was about to leave then, she was sad she hasn't seen her in almost nine months.

"Wait- you don't have to go." Lo tries to stand, grabbing Sienna's wrist. She drops her hand down and looks down at her baby bump, tears in hed eyes. "Sienna, this wasn't supposed to happen." She covers her face with one hand.

Sienna felt the door open, she looks down as she thinks. Her hands gently scoops her face into hers as she pressed her forehead to her's. "...I know...I understand...I do..*

Lo lets out a shaky breath, pressing herself close to Sienna. "They're going to take my baby- father won't let me raise them the way I want to..." She touches her stomach, wincing a bit. "This wasn't supposed to happen-" Lo hasn't told Sienna who the father is.

Sienna nods her head as she slips into the room with her. Shutting the door finally so they can speak together. "Hey hey... it'll be okay I promise..." She knelt before her as she stares up with tears herself. "We'll figure it out..." She was already planning, "...we can always run away still..."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo looks down at her, tears steaming down her face. "I can't just leave... they might find me and take my baby, that's what happened to my mother-" She shakes her head, feeling just overwhelmed from it all. She winces and grabs her stomach. "Ow- they're kicking-"

"..Oh sweetie..." She was sympathetic as she gently rubs her belly. "Sweetie...you gotta be careful. Your poor mum doesn't need you being mean..." She spoke to her belly.

Lo covers her face with her hands, trying to stay in control. The baby kicks Sienna's hand gently. Lo rests her hand carefully on hed stomach, by Sienna's hand. "I'm sorry this happened." She whispers, she'd missed Sienna, even if Lo had been the one locking herself away mostly, and her father. "I haven't gone to any medical exams." She admits quietly.

Sienna nods her head as she thinks. "It's okay... I don't blame you. I did the same for the most part..." She softly sighs out as she rubs her hand up and down. "I'm sorry...you felt like you had to hide..."

Tears slips down her cheeks that she's been trying so desperately to not let fall. "I didn't want anyone to see me... or... or talk about my child." She touches Sienna's hand, staring down at her baby bump.

She closes her eyes again, trying to focus on just the feeling of Sienna. "I regret pushing you away, I was..." She trails off, unable to find the words.

"You don't have to tell me." She whispers softly as she nods her head. She pressed a soft kiss to her belly as she stood up, a simple smile to her lips as she pulls her in for a even gentler hug. "I just missed you..."

Lo watches her, tears in her eyes at how soft and gentle Sienna is being. She shifts and hugs her best she can with her bump. "I missed you so much- Sienna..." She chokes back a sob, she doesn't want to cry- She hides her face in Sienna's shoulder. "This was never supposed to happen-"

Sienna holds her closer as she rubs her back gently. She let her feel the emotions as she runs a hand through her hair. "...It's okay...it's okay I'm here now dear. I promise I'm here no matter what..."

Lo clings to her, gasping back her sobs. "I can't let the baby be raised by Hydra-" She winces and rubs her stomach. "I swear the baby kicks all the time-" She buries closer to Sienna.

Sienna nods her head as she hums. "I'm sorry my dear... I'm so sorry. I wish I could carry them for you..." She sighs a bit

Lo shakes her head. "It wouldn't make a difference- they're still going to be raised in these walls-" She whispers out devestated, tears spilling over her cheeks as she is just utterly overwhelmed. "I want my baby safe, that's all I want."

Val had been furious when he'd found out Lo was pregnant, or as furious as an asset could be. It wasn't his baby, and while he wasn't a possessive man he did hate the thought of her hurt. Once he was over that fury, though, he did everything he could to get temporarily transferred to being her guard so he didn't have to leave her unprotected.

"It's just me, Lo," he murmurs at the door.

Lo gets to her feet and pushes the door open, quickly wiping her tears away. "Val, I'm... I'm fine." She walks back into her room, hands resting on her stomach, tears prick at her eyes as she stares off. "I'm fine. Everything alright?" She swallows thickly and glances back to him.

"Youre not." He looks at Lo, not even bothering to hide his concern, and follows her back into her room. "I was sent to check up on you," he admits slowly.

Lo shakes her head, walking further into the room. "By who?" She swipes a tear away, she can't cry- She glances back to Val, trying to hide the blatant pain on her face.

[valerie-patton]

"Your father." He looks a little disgruntled by that, he hates Pierce but.. "He's concerned about the health of the baby..."

Lo frowns and lowers herself shakily into a chair. "The babies fine." She shakes her head angrily. She really hasn't been accepting any medical help then necessary. She rests her hand lightly on her stomach.

[valerie-patton]

"You look hurt..." Val says, his voice soft. He comes and sits down beside Lo, hating to see her in pain. "I know the doctors are awful, but please, Lo...'

[carlos-thatcher]

"I'm just a little sore." Lo mumbles, resting her head on Val's shoulder. "I don't want those doctors anywhere near my baby." She frowns down at her stomach, she's far into her pregnancy, near her due date. "I'll be fine."

[valerie-patton]

"How are you going to give birth without a doctor, hm?" Val shakes her head, one hand moving to tentatively rest on the baby bump. "I wish i could do more."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo frowns and tips her head back. "I don't know... but I can't let Hydra doctors get their hands on my baby." She glances down at Val's hand, blinking back tears. "I wasn't supposed to get pregnant- not by... by someone else."

[valerie-patton]

"I know." Val cant watch another child be raised the same way thay he was. He looks down at his hand also. "Lo... can i.." He swallows. They havent talked about it yet. "...whose is it?"

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo shifts and rests his head on Val's shoulder, taking a few shaky breaths. She closes her eyes, hand resting lightly on her bump. She knew they would have to talk about this eventually, no matter how much she doesn't want to. "It's White's." She whispers, sounding devestated.

[valerie-patton]

Val feels sick. Of all the people to do it... he suddenly understands twice as much why she was so hesitant to talk about it. He gently strokes over the bump. "Did he- god, im so sorry, Lo... was it on purpose...?'

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo wants to cry at how gentle his touch is. She closes her eyes and takes a few shaky breaths. "No, not on purpose. He cornered me at a party, tried to tell him no, but father saw and encouraged it, I couldn't say no." Her voice gets tight as she speaks, her hands clenched at her sides.

[valerie-patton]

Val wants to murder White. Pierce too. "Im so sorry," he whispers instead. He leans down and kissed her head. "I wish I could have been there, I could've..." Done nothing, actually.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo shakes her head. "There's nothing you could've done." She smiles shakily at the kiss, resting a hand on her stomach again. "I'm not letting White get his hands on my child, or anyone in Hydra." The baby kicks gently against Val's hand.

[valerie-patton]

"I could've tried to take your place, I could have done something." He knows its stupid to say but hes just so furious that this happened to Lo. "I know. I'll protect them, as much as i can..." He smiles though, when the baby kicks. "Hi, there..."

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know, I know you would've helped me. But it's over, I'm pregnant, I'm pregnant and there's nothing I can do." Lo chokes down a sob at her words, she stares up at the ceiling, desperately trying to stay in control. She softens at Val's smile. "Are they kicking?"

[valerie-patton]

Val is just so furious for her. "You know anything you need, I'll do?" He asks, knowing there are limitations on both of them. He kissed her head again and nods. "Yeah, they are..."

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know." Lo whispers, tears in her eyes. "I knos." She softens at the kiss, always does. She smiles and places her hand next to Val's. "Hey baby..." She whispers shakily, she just wants to keep them safe-

[valerie-patton]

Val nods. He looks down at Lo and the baby bump. "I've gotta get you outta here," he murmurs, a reversal of their usual roles. "I cant let this baby grow up here.."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo looks up, it's so strange to have their roles reversed. She rests her hand protectively on her bump. "I won't leave here unless you leave with me, but I need my baby safe." She whispers, pain in her voice.

[valerie-patton]

"There's no way all three of us get out of here yet," Val points out. He drops his hand and paces. "I'll figure something out. Ill sneak you out... something.. is Wh.. is he intending to help raise them?"

[carlos-thatcher]

"I know but I'm not letting you stay here. I'll... I'll have someone in Shield raise my baby, I can't leave you here." Lo bites her lip, rubbing her stomach anxiously. She shakes her head. "I think he is, I can't let him, I won't."

[valerie-patton]

"Lo, its okay.." Val says gently. "How are you gonna explain your baby disappearing, hm?" He shakes his head. "God, I hate him... that bastard, I swear to god..'

[carlos-thatcher]

"It's not okay! Nothing about this is okay!" Lo bursts out, she drops back against her chair, breathing heavily, It's rare for her to lose her control. "I don't know Val- I'm sorry, I'm sorry-" She covers her face with her hands.

[valerie-patton]

Val winces. Its bad when Lo gets this out of control. He sits down in front of her. "Lo, look at me. We're going to figure this out, okay?" He smiles weakly. "I'll do whatever I have to to get you two safe."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo looks up shakily, meeting Val's eyes. "Okay-" She whispers shakily, not used to feeling this out of control, she shifts and wraps her arms around Val best she can with her stomach. "I'm sorry, I'm... overwhelmed."

[valerie-patton]

"Dont be sorry. It's okay." He kisses Lo's head gently and then looks down at her. "Do you want me to stay here tonight? I can probably be okay to..." Might take a little bargaining but he could do it.

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo kisses Val's shoulder gently before leaning back. "I would like that if you can manage it, without getting into too much trouble." She frowns and looks down, wincing and gasping in pain. "Braxton Hicks-" She wraps her arms around her stomach.

[valerie-patton]

"I'll see what i can do. Give me an hour or so." He smiles a little and then immediately focuses on her, holding her. "Breathe, sweetheart... I've got you.."

[carlos-thatcher]

Lo leans into Valerie, breathing heavily. She closes her eyes and just tries to focus on the feeling of Val. She scrunches her nose up in pain.

[valerie-patton]

"That's it," Val encourages. "Just breathe. You're doing great." He rubs her back gently, trying to help her through the pain.

Lo takes a few deep breaths, resting her head on Val's shoulder. "I swear if this baby comes early-" She winces and bites her lip, holding on harder to Val.
