You can feel something intense, electric, almost magical with someone… and they can still have zero intention or even ability to build something real with you
Chemistry doesn’t equal commitment. Connection doesn’t equal capacity. Attraction doesn’t equal interest. Attention doesn’t equal intention. Having sex doesn’t equal commitment
But when you’re in it, those moments feel like proof. The late night talks. The eye contact. The constant texting. The physical closeness. It feels like it has to mean something
But attraction is easy. Attention is cheap. And physical intimacy can happen without emotional availability. None of those things automatically mean someone is interested in being with you
A lot of people get caught up in bragging about these things “They’re obsessed with me.” “We talk every day.” “We hooked up.” "All these people I hooked up with like me." as if those moments automatically mean something solid
When we inflate those things into proof of love or value, what we’re really doing is trying to soothe our ego. We want it to mean we’re chosen. We want it to mean we’re special. We want it to mean this is going somewhere
If you’re not grounded in your own worth, that spark will pull you in hard. And the longer you stay in a dynamic where you’re not clearly being chosen, something deeper starts happening
Your nervous system adapts to the instability
The anxiety becomes familiar. The inconsistency starts to feel normal. The highs and lows register as “passion” instead of stress. You don’t even realize you’re being conditioned to associate love with uncertainty
No amount of chemistry is worth teaching your body that love equals anxiety. No connection is powerful enough to justify lying awake at night wondering where you stand
Real interest is consistent. Real intention is clear. Real commitment doesn’t leave you guessing. The right connection won’t require you to abandon yourself just to keep it alive
You don't deserve the bare minimum. You deserve the moon and the stars and maybe even a planet
