in 1994 when green day first became famous, they invited pansy division, an openly gay punk band, to open for them for the entire dookie tour knowing full well the responses would be mixed. in 2016/2017, on their revolution radio tour, green day chose only female led punk bands to open for them to help create recognition for these artists in a male dominated scene. this band has always been using their voices for the right reasons and i love them so much for that.

Hawaiian is an actual race, therefore not all people from Hawaii are Hawaiian.

Hula is a fucking hard thing to master. Just because it looks pretty doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Hawaii is an illegally overthrown country that had it’s sovereignty violently ripped away from it in 1893 when our queen was held captive in her own home.

Genuine question, what is the difference between “Hawaiian” and Aloha shirts?

Hawaiian Shirts: Gaudy, brightly colored, made on the mainland (usually), usually the pattern seems choppy in the front (idk how to describe it), contains items that aren’t native to Hawaii (pin-up’s or birds that aren’t indigenous, or pineapples), usually made for people to wear as a joke, tacky

Aloha Shirts: Hawaii made, floral/leafy design, usually not brightly colored (definitely not neon), worn for special occasions like weddings/luau/church (mostly the last one), a good aloha shirt is really soft, Hilo Hattie is the literal best
