“That’s too damn bad I’ll visit my niece if I want to.” She gave a short, self-satisfied giggle. “I’m joking.” Another short yet menacing giggle and her arm emerged from her coat. She waved her hand dismissively. “Sort of—I planned to visit you at the start of the year but…I can’t explain it to you without getting into trouble.”
And if it all ended up sounding like more excuses then she had less reason to try. Where would she start, anyway? Longshot was finally dead; Abigail was technically, truly dead for a month, there was a recovery period and now she was “back.”
“If I could tell you everything, I would,” Abigail continued as her expression wrinkled. She wanted to provide a reasonably more substantial reason than that while keeping it brief and dodging legalities. “Basically, five years into my leadership position I was put onto a case and it was really, REALLY hard to get done. The criminal was really, REALLY annoying. She sucked.”
Abigail suppressed a cringe; this was the safest and goofiest way to go about such a severe time in her career.
“I don’t touch cigarettes.” She gestured at Isa’s pockets. “Inner Abigail did. I think over the years I spent on that assignment she had a pack a day. That’s how crappy that woman was…!”
The saying was true, wasn’t it. You really find out what you’re made of once you face off with your equal.
She certainly seemed child-like to Isa. Especially in how she acted. Either way Isa finds out that her aunt did want to visit for some time but apparently something happened. She wasn’t going to bother with prying anyways, it didn’t pertain to her so it was none of her business. It seemed that Abby didn’t mind explaining somethings to Isa, even if their bond wasn’t exactly strong to begin with.
“Well it’s done now. In the past i’ll assume as well.” She also points out while glancing towards the sky, estimating the time by the positioning of the sun. Ronnie should be in a class now today. There’d be no use going back to their dorm room at the moment, that and Isa would rather not show off anything to Abby. Rather she didn’t want her to have the luxury of seeing not only hers but Ronnie’s as well.
“Well it’s early for dinner, brunch maybe.“ She admits while teasing a few strands of her pixie cut, “Not hungry so I can show you around the school if you want.“
“We could probably find Ronnie in class as well.“ She casually admits while walking past the reaper, not bothering to wait for a response before she was on her way back into the building.
