Venez découvrir les photographies de nature morte réalisées par Mme Carole Rey au sein de l'Office du tourisme de Rodez.
I am very happy to announce you that from July 4th to September 30th a part of my series Hemicrania-Disambiguation and a selection of still life photographs can be seen at the Office de Tourisme in Rodez, France. To give an extra depth to this exhibition I organise end July and mid-August a series of free workshops dedicated to photography and still life composition. More info will come later.
As tonight marks the end of the Ramadan for billion of people across the world, it has for me a special meaning. For the first time I fasted a couple of days, nine in total including today which is, btw, very little if you compare to what it should be.
You might wonder why I did it and no it has nothing to do with me already working on my delusional bikini body. It all came from my little dragon who wanted to feel and know what it is to fast because his best friend is Muslim. I thought I reached the peak of my proudness toward him the day he chose for an English class assignment a book on Martin Luther King and then started to quote him at table during evening conversation; but no, that kid keeps amaze me. So, I decided to fast as well the day he would do it to bond with him and experience it myself as well. This, my friend, was a great eye opener that led me to fast again but also to start to read the Quran. And guess what, not only that reading opens my horizon and understanding it is actually the first book in Dutch that I do not quit after one chapter. What in France we would call “le double effet kiss cool”.
Anyway, I am not here to talk about my little experience but to express and share with you my gratefulness to my Muslim friends and acquaintances (you know who you are) that have welcome my son and I in the most generous way. People have listened to our questions, answered to them without judging us, advised us, welcomed us in their home and share their food with us after a long day of fasting. For the first time in almost 20 years I live in the Netherlands, I felt the warmth I missed so much and felt at the right place at the right time doing the right thing. See, life is full of surprises;-)
Wish you all a good day.
Much love to y'all and Eid Mubarak

To make a bouquet is to make an ensemble that sparkles the interest of the eye and enlighten the soul. Of course to achieve this, there are many rules. Art floral has a long history and it takes hours of practice and many many flowers to understand and master all the subtleties. As a floral photographer I know one or two things about flowers, I made thousands and thousands photos of them. Nevertheless, it is quite challenging for me to make a bouquet. I love to mix colors and patterns but to combine them in a 3d ensemble has become one of my biggest issue in this journey. For a reason or an other, there is always a place in my bouquets where I miss something, it seems that working with symmetry is not my biggest quality and in doubts and despair I say to myself, don't worry the day you will master all the classical techniques you will be able to go wild and say with your flowers “fuck the rules”. Until then, I practice every single week my motto “never give up”and patiently try to make THE bouquet, the one I will be able to turn 360degrees and feel content from 0 to 360. It is a long road but what an enchanting one.
There is that thing with orchids that depending on how you look at them you can see a bird, a dragon lady or the shadow of an angel. It never ceases to amaze me. And you, what do you see? Wish you all a good day Xxx

Last Saturday, I was very fortunate to be invited by @allthingsfern to join him and @tvoom and @photographybyajm to their InConversatin about macrophotography. Although I rarely do macro lately this conversation and the enthusiasm about it made me put my rings on my 50mm and immerse myself again in peonies. All those photos might not all officially be "macro"but closeup (btw, where is the line between those two?) but I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did while photographing them.
Have a nice day. Stay cool, be kind and be brave and raise your voice for justice, equity and equality. Cheers and love from the Netherlands!
