I gotta know why it was done in the 70s show, was Michael Landon feeling funky or is that actually how she pronounced her name? Because it was a toss up of if a character would call her CaroLINE or CaroLYN and I have to know if it will go into the new show or not lol.

In the season 1 Christmas episode of Little House on the Prairie Laura states that that Christmas is their very first Christmas in Walnut Grove— when it actually wasn’t.

Because in the episode before it (The Lord Is My Shepherd) Laura’s brother Charles lived for nine months before he died (in season 4 his grave reads November 1 1875 - August 27 1876) which means he would have been a month old around Christmas.

WHICH MEANS their first Christmas in Walnut Grove was with him THE YEAR BEFORE, making what Laura says in the Christmas episode untrue.

watching little house on the prairie for the first time and only really paying attention whenever Caroline was on screen should have told me something lol. Like yeah Charles was there too but, the closet was obviously glass.

I had to watch that part in the LHOTP pilot where Charles gets that cattle drive job and Caroline is so excited about getting to have beef again TWICE because the first time I was distracted by Jack sitting just behind her ON A STUMP.

my grandma was a farmers daughter and she had 15 siblings, so that’s what I always assumed the size of a country family would kinda be like (yk, many kids to work the farm)

So watching LHOTP and hearing Caroline be called a “broodmare” after having her FOURTH child was always so crazy to me. LIKE WYM FOUR IS A LOT???

Also on that note, what was up with like every family in Walnut Grove only having 1-2 kids? Like I thought the majority of them were farmers?? Was it done intentionally to make the Ingalls stick out somehow? lol idk

Nothing frustrated me more than watching Little House on the Prairie for the first time and seeing the annihilation of Mary and Adam’s characters and the decharacterization that led to their departure.

I mean Mary already suffered quite a bit before meeting Adam, but then it’s just back to back to back… like LET HER BREATHE.

FIRST OFF - why did they spend so much time in their wedding episode learning that being blind and being a parent will be hard but they’re doing it together so they can do it JUST TO KILL THEIR CHILD IN THE MOST BRUTAL WAY POSSIBLE AND THEN NEVER LET THEM BE PARENTS AGAIN. Killing off their son was obviously just part of the “the Ingalls can’t have sons” rule (which somehow doesn’t apply to James???) and it was very apparent that he was only created so that Mary and Adam suffer more. NOTHING EVEN CHANGES - Mary and Adam don’t separate or even really suffer from PTSD or grief. SO WHY DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE??

The real Mary Ingalls never marries so if she gets a completely fictitious husband why the heck couldn’t she have a daughter? Her story already isn’t historically accurate so why not fib a little more and say she had a kid?

AND SECOND - Adam’s decharacterization actually pains me because WHAT. DO. YOU. MEAN. Adam Kendall, the man who when he first gets his sight back, only wants Mary and proceeds to tells her “oh my beautiful Mary. you’re more beautiful than I ever could have imagined” AS SOON AS HE SEES HER FOR THE FIRST TIME, also forgets about her as he starts to refigure his life? THAT MAN ADORES HIS WIFE AND THE WRITERS BURNED HIS WHOLE CHARACTER TO THE GROUND.

You’re telling me the writers could not find a single other way to write them out to New York and off the show without making Adam seem like a bit of a jerk? BOOOOOOO, THATS MY BOY. THEY RUINED MY BOY.

Though props to Linwood and Melissa for sticking it out as long as they did on the show, they did a phenomenal job with what they were given and I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: MELISSA WAS ROBBED OF THAT EMMY 🗣️🗣️🗣️
