FSU professors begin developing a tool to detect suicide risk in U.S. military service members
Florida State University’s suicide research program has been given a $1.5 million grant to support the research of two assistant professors from FSU’s Department of Psychology, Jessica Ribeiro and Joseph Franklin. They are working to develop a tool that will detect suicide risk and help doctors access patients more effectively.

FSU’s Relay for Life raises over $300,000
The FSU IM fields filled up with thousands of people on April 20 for this year’s Relay for Life event. The event began at 6:00 p.m. and went on until 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, raising a total of $300,351.41.

Word of South Literature and Music Festival celebrates local talent
The Word of South festival took place April 13 to 15 at Cascades Park in Tallahassee. A number of authors and musicians came out to hold panels and perform as the local community poured in with children and pets to support Tallahassee’s literature and music festival.

PeaceJam Southeast’s annual conference inspires students
Children’s rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Kailash Satyarthi visited Florida State University to host PeaceJam Southeast’s Tenth Anniversary Conference. Friday night, Satyarthi delivered a public talk to kick off the conference that was held Saturday through Sunday. Throughout the weekend students participated in various service projects and a Human Rights March.

FSU's seventh annual Great Give raises over $400,000
Florida State University’s "Great Give" set a new record this year, raising $413,147. The online giving campaign supports FSU programs, projects, student activities and scholarships. The campaign began Thursday, March 22 at 9 a.m. and concluded Friday, March 23 at 9 p.m.

Fifth annual 5K honors fallen alumnus Justin Sisson
Florida State University’s Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) hosted 5K Run/Walk in honor of Second Lieutenant Justin Sisson, an FSU graduate who was killed on June 3, 2013 in Afghanistan by a suicide bombing while serving as an officer. The 5K brought together friends and family of Justin, as well as people who have heard his story.

FSU InNOLEvation Challenge winners announced
Seniors of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering won the $10,000 grand prize at Florida State's Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship InNOLEvation Challenge. The team of six student engineers won for their design of a hands-free umbrella for wheelchairs, called “DriGo.”

FSU College of Law now accepts the GRE
Florida State University College of Law is now one of 17 schools to accept GRE (Graduate Record Exam) scores for law school admissions, making it the first in Florida. This change is effective as of Fall 2018.
