Maybe, when the clock strikes twelve, we’ll meet ourselves.
MIDNIGHTS, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight. — taylor swift, 08/28/22
betty is like how you get the girl 2.0
Betty: Go fuck yourself
Taylor: Fuck me yourself, coward
i think this album is important, especially in contrast to lover, it shows that even when you’re at peace and happy that the ghosts from your past can still linger. i think it’s incredibly humanizing and comforting to know that it’s okay to feel sad when everything in your life seems fine. we’re allowed to have these emotions. we’re supposed to have these emotions.
people saying that taylor is only now writing incredible lyrics and this is what she should have been doing all along....no.....she’s always written clever lyrics and melodies, this is just a different form. all of her work is art and deserves to be appreciated.

“Lover self-consciously summed up the first 30 years of her life, bringing all her musical passions together. But on Folklore, she leaves her comfort zones behind. It sounds like she figured she wasn’t going to be touring these songs live anyway, so she gave up on doing anything for the radio, anything rah-rah or stadium-friendly. She just made some coffee, sat at the piano, and let her mind wander into some dark places. You can picture the candle on her piano flickering as the wax melts over her copy of Wuthering Heights and another song rolls out.”

afterglow, taylor swift
i might redo this once i actually learn how to paint skies but i painted the skies i envision for different songs from lover 🌟
Baby, I get mystified by how this city screams your name.
And baby, I’m so terrified of if you ever walk away.
This is important. (Taylor’s Grammy Speech 2016)
if i see one more post or thinkpiece about how taylor is wrong for ‘pandering’ to the lgbt+ community for sales i’m going to lose my mcfreakin mind. taylor swift, more than literally any other huge pop act that i can think of right now, has always had a huge conservative/straight fanbase. like to the point where she has historically been almost notorious for it. she doesn’t need the lgbt community for sales.
if anything, by standing up for lgbt rights she is risking losing - or at least alienating - a huge chunk of her lifelong conservative fanbase. we’ve unfortunately learned over the last few years that there are a lot more of them than there are of us in the world right now. taylor really is not gaining as much from this as people seem to think she is. her insta post about the equality act hasn’t even broken 900k likes (which is a rant for another day), and her posts about politics before it didn’t fare much better. she would be so monumentally stupid to be doing this for any reason other than a sincere and genuine passion for these issues.
and even putting all that aside, you can’t be pandering and using an oppressed group for sales if you’re actually putting your money + time + effort where your mouth is, which is what taylor has been doing relentlessly. she opened pride month by very carefully crafting a heartfelt letter to her senator speaking about these issues and has urged her fans to do the same. her insta and twitter bios still say ‘support the equality act’ even tho she has a new single she’s promoting. she started this era by donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to lgbt charities, and her shoutout to glaad in the yntcd lyrics has increased donations over the last few days alone.
it’s just so frustrating to be in this bubble where actual taylor fans are celebrating and feeling so cherished and seen and then to have people tell us that we’re being stupid or brainwashed, to be treated like we’re idiots for being happy. if you don’t like taylor then you don’t have to give a tiny rat’s ass about what she’s doing, but please just let us have this lol
wtny walked so yntcd could run 🏳️🌈
shake it off: it’s fine!! i don’t care what you say!! i’m not listening to you!!
yntcd: no actually please shut up
