JANUARY JOURNAL
In January, I participated in EOMD. This was my first time joining EOMD so I was really excited to participate. This required lots of commitment and perseverance, but also teamwork. Although we didn’t win, I still really enjoyed spending time rehearsing. I was also able to step out of my comfort zone since dancing is something I would not normally do.
DECEMBER JOURNAL
In December, I continued to play for the A grade Girls Netball team. As the captain of my team, I was able to continue to develop my leadership skills. It involved lots of communication and organisation, but also lots of motivation and determination. Apart from playing netball, I was also part of the Panto Committee. Alongside 3 other classmates, I helped to organise the Year 13 pantomime of 2017.
NOVEMBER JOURNAL
I took part in several activities in November. First was Challenge week (CW ran between end of Oct and beginning of Nov - my reflection on CW is on my October journal)
Other than Challenge week, I continued to work on the KGV Story Project. After we published the KGV Story, we decided to work on a mural that reflects everything we discussed in the publication. We are still in the designing and planning stage.
In November, I also volunteered to help out at the KGV Gala dinner. It was interesting to talk to alumni, hear their stories, and listen to their advice.
OCTOBER JOURNAL
This October, one of the most enjoyable activity that I did was Challenge Week. This year, I went to Myanmar. During this trip, we explored the city, learning more about the culture traditions, and language of Myanmar. As this was my last challenge week trip, I really wanted to enjoy it to the fullest and tried to step out of my comfort zone. I met new friends, tried new foods, took lots of photos, and took part in activities that I would have not done if it weren’t for the trip. It was one of the most memorable trips of my life.
AUGUST JOURNAL
This August, I did not do much CAS because it was still the beginning of the year. I did cheer-leading practices, joined A grade girls netball and Basketball.
APRIL JOURNAL
April was an exciting month. It had a mixture of all three aspects of CAS: Creativity, Activity and service. For creativity, I continued my work for my CAS project, the KGV story. The book was finally published and we held a successful book launch to support and celebrate it. I also participated in a Mock-trial competition where we each got a chance to be both barristers and witnesses. It was interesting to experience a small portion of what real barristers do.The judges were really impressed that we were able to organise and prepare all of our questions and statements without any guidance from school or coaches. For the Service aspect, I did a flag day where I stood on the Mid-levels escalator bridge for around 4 hours to raise awareness of the HK SPS. Next month, my goal is to further progress on my CAS project.
MARCH JOURNAL
In March, the only major activity I did was World Scholars Cup. The two day competition was an an enjoyable but somewhat challenging experience. My team did pretty well, and even qualified for the global round in Hanoi. If I were to do this again, I would revise more because I feel we would have done much better. Next month, I hope to participate in more service and creative based activities.
FEBRUARY JOURNAL
In February I took part in mostly activity-based experiences. The biggest activity was the third and final expedition for HKAYP. Since this was the third camp, we had almost no problems or issues regarding planning. Also, part of the trail was one that we’ve done before, so the surroundings were familiar - this meant we didn’t get lost as often. Next month I plan to take part in more service based experiences or take part in a competition.
JANUARY JOURNAL
There were no major CAS related events during the month of January. However, I made more progress towards my CAS project. Weekly meetings were held to further develop our ideas and designs towards the KGV story book.
DECEMBER JOURNAL
December was a very service-oriented month that included both taking part and organizing serviced based activities. The biggest activity was the Christmas Refugee Party. As I am part of the Community Service Committee, I was largely involved in the preparation aspects of this event. Next month, I hope to do more creative oriented activity next month
NOVEMBER JOURNAL
November was a very activity based month. I participated in two sports (Basketball and Netball), 24-hour pedal kart, and also took part in a competition. My goal this year was to improve my skills in playing Netball and Basketball. It was a fun and successful term, although I did injure my finger (which stopped me from playing for a few weeks), I believe I was still able to develop my skills- particularly in shooting. Young Founders event was a very rewarding event. If I were to do this again, my goal would be to not stress out as much and instead, enjoy the process and event more. Next month, I plan to do more service based activities.
CAS PROJECT
My CAS project is the KGV STORY. It is a story book that charts how learning has changed throughout KGV over the years, and aims for the future. It is a reflection of how alumni and current students stay connected to KGV.
The KGV story was such a rewarding experience. Filled with laughter, learning and creativity, this project gave me the opportunity to work with amazing people to find out more about the memorable journeys of the alumni and how KGV has changed as a whole.
INTER-SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2017
Date: April 29th - 30th
This was a mock trial competition that took place in Hong Kong University. We were given case files and had to prepare opening/closing statements, cross/direct examination questions, and study witness profiles and affidavits. We each got a chance to be both barristers and witnesses. It was interesting to experience a small portion of what real barristers do.
However, we had trouble finding team members to join, so we had only 1 week preparation time as a team, compared to the 3 months other schools probably had.
Although we didn’t place in the top 5 teams, I think we did very well considering we didn’t have a coach or a teacher supervisor like other schools, and the short preparation time we had. The judges were really impressed that we were able to organise and prepare all of our questions and statements without any guidance from school or coaches.
FLAG DAY
Date: April 22nd
For 3 hours, we stood on the mid levels escalator bridge selling flags to raise awareness for the Hong Kong Suicide Prevention Services.
Netball Captain 2017
Date: 20 - 23rd February
This year, I have been appointed as Crozier’s netball captain. Responsibilities include organizing teams and being on court to support and coach. Inter house netball this year was successful. We won all grades, placing an overall 1st place.
HKAYP Camp 3
Date: February 23 & 24th
This was the last expedition/camp for the Hong Kong Awards for Young People (HKAYP) Bronze Award.
Since this was the third camp, we had almost no problems or issues regarding planning. We brought the right amount of food, we knew exactly where we were going, and brought the right equipment. Part of the trail was one that we’ve done before, so the surroundings were familiar - this meant we didn’t get lost as often. Overall, this was the most successful camp.
World Scholars Cup
Date: March 4 & 5th 2017
World Scholars cup was a two day competition event that involved debating, writing, and challenges(quizzes). In preparation to this competition, we had to write notes on the different topics such as Literature, Science, Arts, History, and special area.
It was an enjoyable but somewhat challenging experience. My team did pretty well, and even qualified for the global round in Hanoi. If I were to do this again, I would revise more because I feel we would have done much better.
