I'm drawing a comic in ballpoint pen because I have totally lost my mind want to and cannot be stopped. It's slightly haunted and features a pair of soulmates who meet again and again across time and space. It's good fun and filled with ghosts and romance. And ghosts who try to get in the way of romance.

Took part in a 'Yeehawgust' challenge for the prompt "Cactus Swing". I've been meaning to do a study of "The Swing" anyway, so this really worked out and was a lot of fun to do!
Pencils and lineart below. Since Copic discontinued their SP replacement parts for the pens I've been using for years, I'm testing out some new tools to replace them.
Eventually, I'll post some video processes of pages or random art, especially when I start inking with an actual ~nib and ink~ setup. For now, photos will have to do.

For today's post, here is a sketchbook doodle that I scanned and digitally colored. This guy can never catch a few hours to do some proper baking before he's called off to some case or another.
Took some pictures of WIP pages from Life After Life a couple of nights ago.
Above, pencils. Below, inks.
These have been scanned and will be cleaned up/finished digitally. I was using markers to fill in dark areas for the first few months of this comic, but I found it was really time consuming, didn't look as good, and also expensive for the refills. Switching to a hybrid process has been great all around.
I really do use a ballpoint pen to draw this comic. This one, specifically:
If I have any real complaint about this choice of tool, it's that the ink flow is a little weird. Sometimes it will just glop on the page, so I have to regularly wipe the tip on a tissue to prevent that from happening. Maybe a different brand wouldn't have this issue, but I got a whole box of these, so I'm gonna use them!
