The Drama (2026) dir. Kristoffer Borgli
@cass-blogs,
"hey." dean has three fingers up, beckoning cassie over to where he sits at the kitchen table, a half-finished cup of coffee next to him. "that look strange to you?" he lays the newspaper out. the article reads: teen found frozen in summer heat — authorities baffled. "it's 83 degrees out. and this guy was found frozen solid. ice crystals coming outta his skin. and get this—" he said he wasn't going to do this anymore. he promised sam. he promised cassie, too. there's too many evil sons of bitches out. he can't kill them all. yet he's circlin' the location with a marker. "temperature inside the house was 20. wanna check it out?"
hardly awake, she pulls a chair to the same side of the table dean sits at. and considering he hadn't made cassie her own, she wraps her hands around his half empty cup. the look she gives him is lazy. "dean—" she takes a sip. it's cold. he's been poring over the article for half an hour, at least. cassie softens a little, looking at that circle of marker like she's about to sign away their future. "okay." she pauses again, another cold sip. "we heading out soon?"
who up thinking about how sam had to drive dean and him away from cassie
starter call. no cap for miss cassie ♡

"TAKE ME BACK TO EDEN" BY SLEEP TOKEN PROMPTS * assorted lines from the album, some slightly reworked to suit a roleplay format, adjust as necessary
it was no accident.
you keep me sharp and test my worth in blood.
you've got me in a chokehold.
it's all the same to me.
it makes no difference.
i've seen my days unfold.
i've done the impossible.
show me that which i cannot see, even if it hurts me.
show me the way.
you've got my body.
raise me up again.
take me past the edge.
i want to see the other side.
won't you show me what it's like?
did i mistake you for a sign from god?
are you really here to cast me off?
maybe you're here just to turn me on.
i would be lying if i told you that i didn't wish i could be your man.
you won't ever have to talk about it.
i was more than just a body in your passenger seat.
you were more than just somebody i was destined to meet.
i see you go half-blind when you're looking at me.
you gave me nothing whatsoever.
you say you want me, but you know i'm not what you need.
you sit there acting like you know me.
if you had a problem, then you should've told me.
keep an eye on the road.
i can't get enough.
no wonder my ears are still ringing.
you have become the voice in my head.
my life is torn.
are you in pain like i am?
will the pain stop if we go deeper?
i wanna go where nobody else will ever go.
there is always something in the way i wanna have you to myself for once.
you take what you want, then leave.
who made you like this?
tell me you met me in past lives.
won't you come and dance in the dark with me?
anything's better than the way i feel right now.
you make me wish i could disappear.
don't you know i was trying to hold back the darkness?
are you really okay?
you woke me up one night, dripping crimson on the carpet.
i saw it in your eyes.
don't you know i could see it in you even now?
i cannot fix your wounds this time.
i don't believe you when you tell me you are fine.
please don't hurt yourself again.
why are you never real?
i am trembling with fear.
this scar will never fade.
just let me go or take me with you.
do you wish that you loved me?
is there something you give that you will never receive in return?
do you know what it is?
are you trying to live like everything is a lesson to learn?
can you ever forgive yourself?
do you ever believe that we can turn into different people?
it's getting harder to be myself.
for so long, i have waited.
i don't wanna get in your way.
touch me again.
you have got your hooks in me.
you get what you give.
i can hear you say my name.
no one told you where to go.
i'm a waking hell and the gods grow tired.
i need you to see me for what i have become.
we've no idea what we've got until we lose it.
it was no accident.
give me five whole minutes.
call me when you get the chance.
do you remember me?
do you still believe that nothing else matters?
the night belongs to you.
i must be someone new.
you will not be mine.
cassie pegs dean
"yeah. me too." he appreciates it, really, despite the dismissive look he gives her. dean replaces his own bottle with cassie's. he won't ask twice, and he's beyond caring how it makes him look. not that cassie is judging. he doesn't know if it makes him feel better or worse.
"hey, thanks for lettin' me crash tonight. i'll be out of your hair first thing."
cassie knows that she's said enough; she doesn't stay on the topic. sam seemed like a good kid, last she saw of him. must have been, if he was hurtling down stretches of road to the next haunt. she smiles, sadly and moves on. dean doesn't linger, that much hasn't changed.
"he's not home until next week." she feels guilty saying it. then, sterner— "don't go off by yourself."
dean's eyebrows rise. lips pursed, he nods like he understands. he finishes his beer and finds that it doesn't give him the courage he'd hoped it would.
"dunno where i'd go if i did." his smile is meant to reassure, but all it paints across his face is hopelessness. dean holds the empty bottle up, shaking it expectantly to distract from the budding awkwardness. "can i have another?"
"finish mine." she scoots what was her bottle nearer to him, and uses that as her opportunity to pull her hand back. cassie uses it to push up from her chair. she opens the fridge, twists the cap from another beer for him. it thumps against the table.
she steps back, choosing to remain stood. her back presses against the kitchen counter. "i'm sorry about sam."
dean knows how ridiculous this sounds. a year ago he would have laughed in the face of anyone who had as much as implied their belief in the devil of all evil bastards. he spares her the mention of the apocalypse. if he's lucky, she won't ask for what he isn't giving freely.
he looks at cassie's hand. everything inside him screams at him to take it, and for a second, his index finger twitches as though he might. he pulls his hand back. "thanks." dean rubs his eye with three fingers. same hand, like he's trying to soften the blow of his rejection. "you sure your boyfriend won't mind?"
cassie's hand curls up. she leaves it there like her intention had been to rest it like that all along. it isn't as though her life isn't documented along the stretch of walls in her home; she shouldn't be surprised dean refuses her. but like words might fail her for a moment, she shakes her head.
"he isn't here." cassie says. "you don't have to go disappearing."
god, you have no idea. ghosts he can deal with. blast 'em full of salt when they lurch at you, dig their grave and burn the bones, wash your hands off the gig, then go looking for another. but this? dad's journal doesn't give you an instruction manual for life without sam.
"i lost sam." saying it makes it feel too real, so dean looks for another ounce of comfort in the bottle. "i mean, he's alive, but... he's in a cage with the devil."
"the devil?" cassie's eyes go wide, at the revelation and his loss. ghosts are one thing; the man downstairs is another. for that, she nudges her bottle in his direction and lays her hand, palm-up on the table. he needn't accept her invitation.
she doesn't ask if he's okay. cassie knows, all too well, how grief encompasses everything. those three words are enough to make someone snap. "spare room's yours."
"just finished a job, and it made me think—" he doesn't mean to somber the mood, but life's been pretty damn somber since his little trip down under.
"i think i'm gonna retire." dean takes a long swig of his beer. he's buying time, even when he puts the bottle back down and nurses it close to his chest. "before somethin' puts me six feet under."
"not just ghosts anymore, huh?" it's rhetorical but cassie's eyebrows scrunch with more concern than she's shown so far. she wraps her hand around her bottle, in case she's tempted to reach for his.
this is not the dean she knew. if he's here, and there aren't any bones to burn, something is wrong. and since he's in her kitchen, she thinks she has the right to ask, "what are you doing here, dean?"
dean sits on the opposite side of the table, and in so doing, draws an invisible boundary line. it's a last resort effort to stop himself from baring his soul, but then cassie offers him the perfect excuse.
"what the hell? sure." dean smiles, tight-lipped, palming his loose fist. it falters when cassie has her back to him, then resurfaces when she places the beer in in front of him. "work? you said you were still up."
something like that, she thinks. but all cassie does is nod. the late hour reminds her of all the things that go bump in the night; she writes about them best then. she takes a sip of her beer, pushing it aside.
"is that what you're doing? "working"?"
dean angles his body so his side is facing cassie. he looks down at his feet, finds himself nodding where normally he would protest. he only looks back up when he turns to cassie fully. something pulls him towards her; it takes all the effort to keep his feet planted where they are. dean clears his throat.
"sorry to barge in on you like that."
"it's okay," she would say so, even if it wasn't. he's here, in the middle of the night; only a monster would turn him away. "you didn't— i was still up." for cassie, an early night has become a distant memory.
"sit down." she waits, until he listens. "how 'bout a beer?"
dean walks around, searching for nothing in particular. it's weird, being in someone's house without having to think up an excuse to sneak off to another room to check for emf, or hex bags, or sulfur. he's just an old friend who's come for a visit. for real this time. "uh—" cassie's voice snaps him out of his reverie. dean looks at her over his shoulder, the framed photo of cassie and some dude partially covered by his chin. "nothing, i'm good."
cassie doesn't look convinced. he thinks it necessary to provide an explanation. "i'm driving, so—" a half-assed one.
she wonders why the rejection stings, when it shouldn't. cassie steps away, sits back at the table. "you're not going anywhere tonight." it's not an order, not really. but she's left the cupboard open, just in case.
"you being here's a big deal."
the corner of dean's lips curves. it's the closest he has come to a smile since stull cemetery. "whoa, easy there, billy lee." his eyes flicker between cassie and the bat. they stay on cassie with the bat out of sight.
shoving his hands in his jacket pockets, dean accepts the invitation, tentatively stepping over the welcome mat and into cassie's home. "were you really gonna whack me with that like i'm some common burglar?"
"i was," she admits. "but i didn't know it was you," it's softer than she intends, followed by a smile. though, she keeps it brief. cassie closes the door, and scoots past him. in a fluid motion, she closes the lid of her laptop and opens a cabinet. inside is a mix and match of mugs, and glasses, all stacked haphazardly.
she looks back to dean. "what can i get you?"
