BACKSTORY TIME
they're Jon's cousin on their mother's side, thier father is the one who's Pakistani . felt it made more sense since the whole brown person "woman enters husbands family" thing and she moves back to his home country with her after some financial bumps orrrrr the dad is military and just got posted there . this doesn't go down too well with the rest of the family because of religious differences so they use the move as an excuse to give eachother time to cool off .
obviously marrying a muslim means she herself has to be muslim cause religious things so our prophet goober is raised in that sorta household surrounded by those sorts people so they never really questions it . however she is smarter than most in her class which leads to some teasing because . misogyny . but also makes her determined to stay at the top because if she falls down she's proving them right .
her academic drive leads her to pursuing higher education outside of the country to open more doors in her career paths , at least that's what she tells her parents . really she just wants to go the less stuffy countries that won't try to stop her pursuing her interests because the horrible misogyny demons and she lives in KPK which isn't great for that . so with many promises to visit and not run off with some English boy she moves to London .
I'm unsure about when she finds out about Jon. Maybe she's told he's there and that's why she chose London in the first place ? so at least some family's around ? guh . it's all flexible
