“Who said I came down here for food? Or do all of the people who come waltzing in here do that?”
“Most, yes. What are you here for then?”

The USS Vistor somehow managed to be too small to avoid everyone he wanted to and yet just big enough for him to get lost. Axel was about to thank her for pointing him in the right direction and be on his merry way, but as soon as he heard something about quality testing he could resist making a smartass remark. “Wait hang on, you’re telling me you guys actually test for quality here? Seriously? I mean, have you had the coffee here? Because quality is the last word I would use to describe it. It tastes more like crushed hopes and dreams.”
Cassia nodded with a grin. “I probably shouldn’t tell you, but we don’t do testing concerning the taste. We are only testing for nutritional value and the worst case would be anything being toxic, not disgusting.”
“No entrance. You’ll get your food two floors up. The one down here is just for quality testing, sorry.”

“Look, I’m not here to pry, I’m just here to help.” Peggy paused to pick up the alcohol swab from the table just to her right. “If you don’t wanna tell me how this happened then that’s fine.” She did want to know how it had happened, because if there was trouble on board somewhere then she felt as though she had the right to know. Protecting her wife was at the very top of her list of priorities. “This is probably gonna sting, by the way.”
“Then don’t.” Cassia grumbled while looking at the cuts on her hands and the one on her forearm that the nurse was currently tending to. “Just get it over with.” She played it cool. She always did. Still, Cassia winced just slightly when the alcohol desinfected the wound. She had been working down in the lab on one of her own little projects. She couldn’t really tell the nurse about it. She was supposed to check the qualities of the air, the water, the various food items, the whatever the heck anyone could ingest on this ship, but Cassia was doing much more than just controlling.

Since the attack by the synths, Dylan felt like she hadn’t stopped moving. The second things had started to fall apart on Earth, she had done everything she could to protect the synths she cared about, but there were only three that she could bring with her. They announced the tickets for the ships and the lottery followed soon after that, but Dylan was never one to rely on anyone else, or even luck, so she did what she had to. Boarding the USS Visitor only continued to keep her busy as she tried to keep up the facade, but now, sitting at the bar, she was finally able to take a breath. How many of her family had been left behind or killed? She hadn’t even had the chance to say goodbye to them and it was bringing up some far too painful memories. “Can I have a refill?” She asked the bartender, tapping her glass. Her eyes never lifted from the worn photograph in her hands and she was too zoned out to realise someone else was nearby.
Cassia spotted the other woman at the bar and decided that it was safe to join her for a drink or two. Once she had gotten close enough to make out what the other had in her hands, Cassia almost escaped a sigh. She didn’t have to see the picture up close to know that she was in it. If that picture made its rounds sometime in the future, that would mean disaster for her. Noone aside from the people that had been included in the plans knew that she had been part of the attacks. She had a degree in chemistry and didn’t so much want to support synths as she wanted to destroy humanity. Cassia had secretly hung out with synthetics since she was an early teen. She had met Dylan at one of the secret hangouts of the rebellion. Cass sat down next to the woman and signalled to the bartender to get her a glass of whatever Dylan was drinking as well. “Hey there. Maybe shouldn’t wave that one around in the open.”
