Indeed there is! And I am its loyal and devoted caretaker and courier!

Lovely! My first curiosity, as always, would be to wonder if you have any overarching goal in your life. Something or someone that motivates you, maybe, or something you’d quite wish to achieve.

And, of course, I should hope to know what you might like best to receive as food or little gifts. One must have their way to the heart, of course!

’oh, er… i suppose i just want to stop the corruption right now. then i’d like to travel again. or find out what happened to my family…. gifts? hmm… books are always good? though in a place with a library this big, i don’t really need any. probably apple pie, then.’

‘i used to travel a lot! i travelled alone for about a year after leaving home, and then i joined a travelling circus, and then i came here! it’s sort of in my blood, i suppose… i think my family was part of a performers’ troupe, the nomadic kind. well, i dunno for sure, but from what i’ve read, these tattoos on my cheeks match the tattoos on members of the troupe that have been documented. they’re a.. tradition, i suppose? i’ve always had them.

i didn’t… know my family, or my parents. i don’t remember them. all i know about the troupe is stuff i’ve read in the books here at the Academy. i grew up in an orphanage, and they would only tell me that my parents got sick… i’m just trying to figure out what actually happened, and what information was withheld from me.’

‘stories from the circus..? sure, i could give you some. i’m not sure many people here would be interested, though? none of them have seen my circus.

i do believe they were ill, but i’m sure there’s more to it than that. where did they die? did they give me up before they died? if they didn’t, who found me after they died? were they really part of that troupe? what happened to the others, then? did they all get sick? there’s a lot i don’t know. if i find out any more, i’ll… tell you, i suppose. why do you need this information anyways?’

Ah, that's a little complicated. I sorta, got kicked out from my village... I'd rather not talk about it sorry.

Maybe like a stew! I enjoy trying to make a different food each week you see. They also had some cabbages and pork last time I went so maybe I'll even make cabbage rolls!

Some different kinds of baked potatoes. Rose hips taste surprisingly good when eaten with potatoes, did you know? I also plan to take some of the pork for Hibiscus, but doesn't everyone.

‘mm…’ she looks wistful for a moment. ‘an old friend of mine made rose hip stew for me once…’

Ooh, what does it taste like? I've never had a rose hip, but I'm guessing it comes from roses.

‘mhm! rosehips are the little berry-fruits that grow on roses. they taste kinda tangy and sweet, almost citrusy, but the stew my friend made had a lot of spices and stuff in it.’ she rolls the apple between her palms, letting out a small sigh. ‘it was good stew. i miss her.’

‘i used to travel a lot! i travelled alone for about a year after leaving home, and then i joined a travelling circus, and then i came here! it’s sort of in my blood, i suppose… i think my family was part of a performers’ troupe, the nomadic kind. well, i dunno for sure, but from what i’ve read, these tattoos on my cheeks match the tattoos on members of the troupe that have been documented. they’re a.. tradition, i suppose? i’ve always had them.

*A tall student is walking around the secret library, occasionally stopping to pick out a book and skim its pages.*

*Corruption follows him like a hound to its master, keeping in a small radius on all sides; tendrils snake over the floor and crawl up the bookshelves. The student’s face and skin bear the symptoms of poison rot.*

cassidy watches curiously from behind a bookshelf as the unfamiliar student studies a book. she follows him around the library, trying to catch a glimpse of his face and taking out the books touched by the strange tendrils once he moves on, inspecting each for any strange features. she’s not exactly trying to hide- but if she were, the sound of books crashing to the floor from the pile she just tripped over makes a loud enough noise to alert anyone on the ground floor of the library of her presence. she winces as he turns around. ‘hullo… sorry.’

Ah… Good question, really… I think I was walking around to corrupted village, kind of poking through stuff, and I started to feel… Strange. So of course I got out of there, but the feeling didn’t go away, it just built. And then I got magic.

cassidy watches curiously from behind a bookshelf as the unfamiliar student studies a book. she follows him around the library, trying to catch a glimpse of his face and taking out the books touched by the strange tendrils once he moves on, inspecting each for any strange features. she’s not exactly trying to hide- but if she were, the sound of books crashing to the floor from the pile she just tripped over makes a loud enough noise to alert anyone on the ground floor of the library of her presence. she winces as he turns around. ‘hullo… sorry.’

*The corruption draws back, tightening into a smaller circle around his feet. He cringes with a wry grin.*

I don’t spook ‘ya, did I? I’m aware that I tend to do that. Sorry.

*He takes a few cautious steps closer, offering a hand for her to help herself up.*

‘i’m alright. sorry about the noise..’ she gives a sheepish little smile and takes his hand. she tilts her head at him curiously once she’s on her feet. ‘are you new? i haven’t seen you before. is this your magic? it looks like the corruption. it’s very interesting!’

Ah… Good question, really… I think I was walking around to corrupted village, kind of poking through stuff, and I started to feel… Strange. So of course I got out of there, but the feeling didn’t go away, it just built. And then I got magic.

Well, yeah… It’s definitely a dangerous place…

But I’m kind of. Already corrupted. So I don’t have much to lose by visiting… besides, it brings so nice peace and quiet when there are more people in the library than usual.
