āThatās a good point,ā Jinx nodded thoughtfully at Cassieās thought process, her finger lightly tapping on the edge of her glass; she certainly wouldnāt be interested in that type of love. It would just be so.. fake.Ā āI donāt think all love is conditional, a lot of it is when you put it like that, though. Thereās those people that just get so far ingrained in your life, you canāt help but love them no matter what, even when you donāt want to. And thatās where resentment is born.ā A cross between an exhale and a laugh fell from her lips.Ā āItās more than kind of sad; itās depressing.ā The thoughts wouldnāt get her down though, not tonight, when she had good alcohol and good company.Ā āOkay, you look into a pair of those big, soulful eyes and tell me you donāt think they understand more than we think they do,ā she countered, laughing herself.Ā āPraise the endorphins. Another valid point, but the few times Iāve felt it going that way, Iāve just decided it was time for bed. It still made for an easy sleep.ā The other girlās shouting of the word startled Jinx, and she laughed again.Ā āI think we should move on to something stronger than wine if cheers is our word of the evening.āĀ
āYou canāt buy love, I guess,ā Cassie concluded, glancing down into her glass as she swirled its contents ever so slightly. āI wonder if anyoneās ever swam in a pool of wine,ā she spoke out loud, her expression dreamy as a small smile took up residence on her features. That sounded like a bucket list item if there ever was one. Granted, the reality probably wouldnāt live up to the fantasy. Focusing back on the conversation at hand, Cassie nodded slowly at Jinxās words. āAnd then the love grows toxic, and you search in vain for any signs that your effort is still appreciated. And it comes in small bursts, and you let your hopes get up for a moment that things could be good again, and then they change again. Itās only after the love ends that you discover that the good moments were never real. They never loved you back,ā the redhead spoke solemnly, onyx eyes boring holes into the floor in an attempt to keep any emotion from showing through her expression. Clearing her throat, she returned her gaze to Jinx, offering her a laugh. āThey literally shit and run away when you walk up to them, but maybe youāre right.ā Still, intelligence wasnāt a requirement for deserving affection or respect in Cassieās book. She nodded at the mention of getting high aiding in sleep. āOk, true, but weed gives me the craziest dreams. Like, scary, wild, murderous dreams.ā Smirking at the suggestion, the redhead raised an eyebrow. āYou sure you can handle that?ā
