Stevie knelt down next to Cassie to get a better look at her knee, and gave a nod to her request. “Sure thing, Cass. Try not to move it yet here.” He reached towards the skate still on her foot and began to undo the laces for her. He still wasn’t sure just how badly she might be hurt, and whether she was trying not to let on more. “Okay, hold still now.” He slipped the skate off of Cassie’s foot, and gathered them up for her before slowly getting back to his feet. “Alright, let’s see if you can put any weight on it now.” Reaching out for her to grab hold of his hand, and put as much weight as she needed to on him for balance. “Take it slow, okay?”
Cass nodded at the instruction and kept her leg still, but she couldn’t help but test and flex her other foot. She smiled in thanks once the other boot was off, feeling far lighter and capable. He stood and she shifted, reaching onto his hand and holding tight as she used him to counter her own weight, pushing herself up and onto her better leg. She wobbled and kept his hold, then gently put the other leg down. The more weight, the worse it hurt and she gasped and pulled it back. “Shit, okay. Gotta be lightweight on that one I think.”Â
