autistic ronance headcanons (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)

❀ robin likes weighted pressure, so nancy lays on top of her to help her fall asleep at night

❀ robin doesn’t like interrupting nancy when she infodumps, but nancy hates when robin sits there in silence with questions that she can’t ask after because they’ll be “irrelevant.” they solved this by having long question breaks between new topics

❀ “i found this rock/flower/leaf/random object and all i need in return is your praise” warriors

❀ nancy hates wearing socks but she also needs them to avoid feeling specks of dust on her feet

❀ nancy is perceived as cold and self-centred by most people she meets. robin reassures her that she’s actually the sweetest girl ever, those people just don’t see her for who she truly is

❀ robin is a sensory seeker

❀ nancy is a sensory avoider

❀ jumping around like little bunnies is their fave way to stim together <3

❀ nancy likes to take naps after long periods of socializing. robin’s social battery lasts longer so in the meantime she will tuck her in and deep clean her room so she wakes up refreshed and relaxed. she’ll usually take a short nap with her when she’s finished cleaning so nancy wakes up warm too

❀ ^ since nancy hates her things being touched or moved around, robin is respectful and cleans up dishes/cups or gets rid of garbage, but won’t fiddle with her belongings unless necessary

❀ fizzy drinks are overstimulating and alcohol really messes with nancy’s nervous system

❀ nancy doesn’t like loud noises, fireworks being one of her biggest triggers :(

❀ robin listens to her favourite songs on repeat for several hours of the day. it drives nancy a little crazy because she can’t stop singing them after

❀ nancy gets an adrenaline rush from talking in class. she scripts everything thoroughly but she can sometimes engage easily in specific topics (eg. women in the workforce post world war 1). she’ll only talk in group discussions if she has a bunch of background knowledge on the topic

❀ when robin is having a meltdown, she is non-verbal (which upsets her greatly) and she needs to be tightly held or have pressure on her body. she’s usually a bit snippy a few minutes prior to her meltdowns, which has stopped people from helping her. they are physically straining for her and she usually needs lots of recovery time </3

❀ nancys meltdowns embarrass her, so she will usually lock herself away when she’s able to. she gets frustrated and feels like she can’t show her neurodivergence, partially due to masking for so many years. she refuses help and tries to comfort herself by lightly hitting her plushies or pacing in a straight line, which don’t really help her much

❀ robin slides notes under her door whenever she knows nancy won’t be able to communicate what she’s dealing with. the notes make her feel seen (a part of her hates being perceived, but robin doing it this way is subtle enough), grabbing a piece of paper and finding a pen gives her time to focus on something other than the problem, and it is much easier to write down what she needs from robin

❁ in season four, she has a very small funshine care bear beside her on the living room floor. in season five, she has another one in her room

❁ she wears many, many bracelets, including one with seahorse and starfish charms

❁ since she spends the most time with karen, she mimics her quite often (copies her when she looks up and eats at the same time, repeating words)

❁ she also repeats sentences for clarity/out of habit, similar to mike (they pace frequently too)

❁ her worlds of wonder gubby plush can be seen in season four and season five

❁ she has flower decorations on her bike basket

❁ she has a teddy ruxpin toy, which plays stories by inserting a cassette in the back
