Caleb laughed at himself. He was generally an upbeat guy, though on clear nights like this he really did feel in a good mood. He could feel his connection to everything around him. "I mean, I'm really not poetic but if I sound it. That's a plus? I guess I was never bad at writing, I do write. I actually work in the library," he rambled on before pausing. "Hey, no. I don't want you to feel that." He smiled at his next words. "I feel that. I often just feel like going for a walk. And memories like that are nice to have."
"A library?" Cass paused for a moment, thinking on what his fellow witch had said. "you might be a cliche." He joked, holding up his hot chocolate. He was doing his best to shut out the magic in the air around them, something had changed... he didn't want to bring it up though. "Is that what's really brought you out tonight?"
Caleb laughed at himself, realising how he had sounded as the other repeated his question back to him. "Yeah, yeah. I sound a little bit like I have been yeah." He nodded. "No, no. Just admiring a beautiful sky and how nature makes me feel. I'm that guy." He nodded to his drink. "Felt like a hot drink too on a chilly night?"
Cass relaxed on the bench, glancing up at the night sky. He was starting to let go of the past, although thinking about the fall of the meteors also reminded him of everything else he lost that night. "Poetic... is it weird to say it makes me feel insignificant?" he sighed, nodding. "Yeah... just getting out of the house a bit. Go for a walk. My dad used to bring me out here for these hot chocolates and the recipe has never changed."
THE SMELL OF FRESH spices and herbs wafted throughout the shop, welcoming laurel from the backroom into the main shop area. arms carrying a crate of new teas, she settled it onto one of the display tables and started sorting them onto shelves. blueberry, chamomile, peach ginger…the bells on the door being set off by someone walking into the apothecary drew her attention away from her task. “welcome in!” laurel greeted with a smile, raising one of the cans of tea in a mock toast. “is there anything i can help you find? i just brewed a fresh pot of coffee, if you’re in need of a boost.” she offered, setting another tin of tea in its place.
Cass didn't practise his craft, that of course didn't mean that he didn't enjoy the odd spot of herbs and alchemy like all witches. He'd been raised putting herbs on injuries and going to bed with sweet teas to help him sleep. It was a hard habit to break, even into adulthood. "Laurel. My favourite dealer." he smiled with a polite nod. "Just the usual. A mixed bag of teas and some tea leaves for my mother. Oh and and snakeroot? i've been looking for some for a while."
Caleb flopped onto a bench, coffee in one hand, phone in his other. "Shit, would you look a that sky tonight. So freaking clear. Amazing. I swear when it's open like that, you can just feel everything," he rambled on to the person beside him.
Cass looked up at the sky, his mother was a member of the Stellara coven, despite him always abstaining from coven practise. He found the whole thing a little too sociable for him. "Feel the sky?" he smiled slightly, amused by Caleb. "have you been smoking?" he folded his arms, blowing on his hot chocolate. "I'm kidding, it is beautiful."
Sadie kept her composure, she was a confident girl even if she was slightly embarrassed. She smiled, crossing her legs on the rock. "I mean, I could totally get defensive but I really do say the words 'it's a vibe'," she laughed at herself. "I don't like filters though, hand on heart," she said, putting her hand to her chest. "I'm literally sat outside, I was taking it because the light was pretty. I'm an artist."
Brooke smiled at the girl, folding his arms as she sat down. "You're a vibe for that." He joked, rubbing his lips together. "I really don't believe that anyone who calls a selfie art, doesn't use filters. Come on them, take one of me... but you better add on eyelashes." He pouted, mocking her previous pose.
Smiling and blowing the top of his beer bottle , he sighed contently. "Yeah, most definitely," he replied in agreement. Shrugging and grinning a bit, JD replied, "oh yeah? I mean I say why not?" JD wasn't always the best person to be asking for permission, since he was always one to egg on his friends.
Brooke chuckled, watching JD Taking a sip from his own bottle, he raised an eyebrow at JD's carefree attitude.
"Well, JD, you've got a point there," Brooke said, smirking.
He flashed a mischievous grin. The night was still young, and with JD around, it was bound to be an adventure. He stood up, glancing around the dock before heading over to one of the boats and jumping in. He'd had a beer, but his reactions were still sharp. Before long the engine switched on and Brooke cackled, slapping the front of the boat. "And there's life in the old girl!"
Sometimes after a busy day of work, Nari liked to stop by the marina, see what fresh seafood she could bring home to cook for dinner, or maybe just sit at the end of one of the piers and look out at the water, let the ocean relax her. Not that she was all wound up and tense after a good session of yoga and pilates, considering that was sort of the point, but…
She had been walking down one of the docks when she heard a sound to the side, letting out a laugh when she recognized Brooke, lifting her fingers in a wave. "This is a pretty fast way to make friends, you know, offering up free drinks. You got any water, or does that make me really basic and boring?"
Brooke turned with a warm smile. "What can I say? Making friends by the marina has its perks," he quipped, chuckling. Reaching the cooler, he pulled out a bottle of water and handed it to her. "Only a little basic, but about basic as ordering a vanilla latte from Starbucks." he assured her with a grin.
Mandy squinted as she studied the horizon. The light wasn’t exactly doing her any favors right now, but that was also what made the piece interesting. Maybe she could use those angles to her advantage and add in some color.
“Hmm?” She looked over with a smile. “Oh, thank you,” Mandy giggled. “Sorry, I was a bit distracted,” she told him. “Am I blocking your view?” She asked, gesturing towards her set up. “But I will take you up on your offer for something to drink. Thanks,”
Brooke had been quietly enjoying the view from his spot, appreciating the water. When Mandy's voice pulled him from his reverie, he turned to her with a warm smile.
"Don't worry at all," he assured her, his eyes still taking in the landscape. "You're not blocking my view, at all." He reached into his cooler and pulled out a cold beer. With a friendly grin, he cracked it open and extended it towards Mandy. "Here you go."
Aisha was a big fan of living in the coastal area. When things were a bit much for her, all she had to do was take a short walk and be able to sit by the marina, and take in the views. She'd decided to take a walk that day, taking in the quiet and the slightly cold air when she noticed the other near the water. "You're good," she gave a small smile, before eyeing his cooler. "Oh, thank you!" she took out a beer, cracking it open as she raised it in a 'cheers' motion before taking a sip. "It's pretty nice out here about now, not looking forward to winter though."
He glanced at the cooler she'd pointed out and chuckled. "You're welcome," he replied, taking a sip of his own beer. "It's always nice to share moments like this with friends"
He continued to admire the waters, and he smiled politely. "It's gorgeous out here, especially in November... The forecast is already talking about snow...This could be one of the last chances to head out and fish this season."
"Oh, no, I couldn't." Trey had come down for a walk with his dog to the Marina, mostly for a new place to try after the autumn leaves had lost their color and charm. "Actually, toss me a soda, that'd be great. We've walked a bit farther than usual today."
Brooke lifted his hand into the cooler, tossing a lemonade into the man's direction. He also took out a bottle of water, popping some water into a bowl for the dog. Sometimes Brooke preferred animals to people. "At least someone looks like he enjoyed it." He nodded to the dog.
JD wasn't one to have a boat but plenty of his friends back in college did and he always found that he loved being on them. Though most of the time, there were parties on them. But this time, he just enjoyed hanging out with a friend and relaxing. Chilling on a boat was exactly where JD wanted to be. Even better, he was with a friend, someone he grew to like and enjoyed hanging out with.
Taking a few deep breaths, he closed his eyes and inhaled the salty air. By the time he opened his eyes again, his friend was talking. "No worries, I was just enjoying the cool air." He grinned and reached over to grab a drink. "Thanks man. Always love it out here."
Brooke smiled, glancing to JD and then back to the water. He relaxed back into his chair and he closed his eyes for a moment. The two men almost let out deep breaths at the same time. "Yeah... good memories huh? I was thinking of taking a boat out later. My old man always leaves the keys in his. What he doesn't know can't hurt him."
Whether it was the waters or the open countryside, Elliot adored being outdoors just about anywhere. And despite the chill that had settled into the air, he still found himself out and about. Knowing that once hit the ground, the time he would outside would most likely be less and less. More than content to sit, not really needing to strike up conversation with whomever he was with. A bit lost in his own thoughts until he caught movement out the corner of his eyes, his attention turning towards Brooke, thankful to have caught the movement of his lips just in time. Elliot gave a nod of his head before he grabbed for his phone to type back. Do I need a beer mid day? Probably not but am I one to turn it down? Also probably not. Grinning as he turn his phone towards him to let him read as he reached for a beer, cracking it open, and taking a nice long sip.
The water was peaceful and whenever Brooke was off he liked to make the most of it. He smiled, reading the message and giving him a nod of acknowledgement "Something about sitting here makes it sweeter." He held the beer up for a cheers. "I was thinking of taking a boat out later. Do some fishing."
Sadie enjoyed being outdoors even when it was a little chilly. She loved that dressing up warm and the fresh smell of the air. Maybe that was the Merrock girl in her. She flopped down on a rock, coffee in her hands and took her phone out to take a picture. It took her a moment to realise there was a voice and looked up. "Oh, gentleman," she replied with a smile, eyes scanning the cooler box. She picked out a beer, tapping the side. "Any chance you didn't see me about to take a selfie holding my coffee?"
Brooke smiled, his amusement clear on his face. "Oh no, sorry... i saw it all. It was a vibe." He spoke in a mocking tone. "Don't forget to add your filter, the light out here is harsh." He wasn't a social media guy. He'd had Facebook in high school but since everything he had deactivated most of his active accounts.
Brooke had always found comfort in the waters of Merrock. He was just a kid when his dad had first brought him down to the Marina. Truth be told, maybe he just hoped to catch a glimpse of his family here. Or maybe he just found something nostalgic about sitting by the blue waters. He lifted open the cooler box lid, pulling out a beer and cracking it open. There was a chill in the air, winter finally creeping in... but something about that only made the waters more beautiful.
"Sorry, I was lost in thought... rude of me not to offer." He pushed the cooler box towards the person. "I have beer, soda, help yourself."

BACKGROUND / BIO
Kieran was born in Merrock to a well known family, the Brooke's have resided in Merrock for generations and have made their money by investing in several businesses, including the Brooke Brewery. Kieran's parents spent their twenties and thirties building an empire, before finally settling to have children in their early fourties. They made the decision to adopt and adopted the eldest two Brooke children first, before adopting Kieran when he was just two years old.
Kieran grew up in a house of privilege, never needing for anything. He had fast cars, the latest technology and all the best clothes. But Kieran was rebellious and reckless. As a result, he was always getting into trouble and probably would have been kicked out of school without his father's intervention. His father would donate new school wings or donate books to the school.
He was a typical jock in school and only ever really excelled in his extra curricular. Kieran was popular and despite being wealthy, he got on with most people at school and was often labelled as the class clown. Kieran never kept interest in relationships for very long and would often be found with a new girlfriend.
The jock first disappointed his parents by not attending college. It was an expectation that he would attend an ivy league college as his father and grandfather had before him. But this was not Kieran's path. Instead, Kieran left home to travel during his early twenties before returning to work in the family Brewery.
During this period, Kieran fell in with the wrong crowd and got in trouble with the law, although it was only petty things, fast cars, the wrong crowd and the odd substance. Kieran would have got into a lot more trouble if it wasn't for his dad's money. As Kieran gets older he realises how his reckless ways can hurt other people and is doing his best to distance himself from the past. But in doing so, he is also distancing himself from his family and old friends.
Kieran is currently not talking to his father and resides in a log cabin, all he can afford for rent. For the first time in his life he's totally self sufficient and he's hoping to build a new life for himself. He feels this is his chance to prove himself once and for all.
"Aw, make up isn't your thing then?" she teased lightly. "But yes, I think some students and patients are probably in the same ballpark," she laughed. "Oh did you? Is there something about me that just screams that?" she joked. "I mean, I do work with older kids so I doubt they would die."
"I think i look better without it. Just my face though." He smiled, pointing at his face. "No, seriously some really weird calls." he laughed, winking again. "You scream for the D. You said it not mine." He laughed, covering his mouth. "I went to high school and i'd argue against that.... some kids are dumb."
"It did, yeah. He takes me more seriously with the suit," he laughed before nodding. "That s pretty much, yeah. Exactly the sort of place I mean. To be honest, I am literally building my dream place." He smiled back at him. "Get myself a girl in the process, add to the dream even more." He gave another laugh. "How many are you up to?"
"That's mad. I wish my dad took me more seriously in a suit." he smiled, chuckling to himself. "Your dream place? You do it then bud. I believe in you and i'll drop in. I've been meaning to start a new game for a while." He folded his arms. "8-" He paused. "Make that 9, we have a spillage at the counter."
