I MADE AN INFOGRAPHIC ABOUT BEES BECAUSE THEY ARE PRETTY RAD.

It’s been far too long since we updated this blog. We’ve had a pretty good year. Our hives peaked at 8.5 hives and we’re currently down to 7. We always mourn hive loss, but i like to think the bees that left are off somewhere doing okay. Here’s a photo from yesterday of a bunch of bees robbing the hive. Sad but pretty.

Object élevé (2014) by Studio Mieke Meijer
Object élevé is an installation in three parts that functions as a connection between two floors while also offering space to work, collect and store. Commissioned by Just Haastnoot, the project has been designed by Studio Mieke Meijer for his residence in Wassenaar.
Their collaboration started in 2013, when they met at the Salone del Mobile in Milan where Studio Mieke Meijer was showing her work as part of the Dutch Invertuals collective.
Object élevé is strongly related to previous installations by Studio Mieke Meijer that were inspired on photographs by Bernd & Hilla Becher. The Bechers’ black and white photography is renowned for the systematic photo series of industrial buildings that closely resemble each other in function and design. Following her own interpretation, Studio Mieke Meijer reconstructs these buildings into functional installations.
The industrial character of Object élevé stands in strong contrast to the elegant 1930’s residence and transforms a high-traffic area into a memorable residential room.
The construction, built from both standing and suspended parts, largely consists of open frames allowing the design’s transparent character to be maintained.
The use of the samba stairs principle made it possible to realise a steep staircase that is still comfortable to walk.

Miller Fortune | Soulsight | The Dieline Soulsight was commissioned to design Miller Fortune, a line of beer that is more spirited and inspired by “spirited nights.” Designed for MillerCoors, Miller Fortune® is described as a more spirited beer for more spirited nights. Embossed jet black bottles for instant in-hand badge appeal. Heads and tails caps that bring a certain amount of spontaneity to any night. Rocks glasses so it’s served neat like a whiskey. Miller Fortune® fuels bold movement.
