“Yeah it’s not the greatest. If I would have known this was going to happen I would have acted up more.”

Will you cooperate with the leaders or try to resist?

Cooperating makes things way too easy for them. I might if I like them, but don’t get your hopes up.

“Not me. My mamma.” Charlie, leaning his head on his knees. “She was kidnapped by traffickers and a few years later had me. I’ve always been owned by traffickers I was just sold off to a different group so I ended up in Italy and I was sold off again and now I’m here.” He explained with a small shrug.

“Jogeumdo, that sounds rough. I’m sorry.” Though he doubted that saying sorry would make things any better or that the weak apology would even be appreciated. Castor couldn’t really imagine having a life like that. And he had thought living in an orphanage was bad.

“I’m not sure of the exact location of this place either,” she offered with a shrug. “What I do know is that I can let you out for a bit if you want to?”

“I thought you would know and tell me,” he sighed with a shake of his head. “Why would you want to let me out?”

Aurelia shrugged.  “You would be surprised.  Some leaders enjoy a challenge.  Others will have you suffer for it.  Mostly it is luck, or intuition, that will allow you to ascertain which is which.”

“I have been known to constantly make things harder for myself, I’m probably going to suffer for it,” to him, it made the whole thing a lot more fun and he really didn’t like changing his way just to please people.

“I wasn’t aware the prison was in on the whole human trafficking situation.”

“Well neither did I, you can imagine how surprised I was.”

Riley shook her head in mirth. “Okay. You know what, go ahead and do that, I’ll stop by again in a week and see how that’s working out for you.”

“I’m sure I’ll be doing just fine. Thanks for the concern.”

“I would hope not,” she chuckled softly at the review comment, looking up at him with bright eyes. “Would you like to check out the rest of the mansion? It is pretty nice up there.” She offered him. 

The offer had him raised a brow before he shook his head, leaning back a little more. “Thanks but no thanks, why would I want to see how nice it is when the conditions down here are hardly going to change.”

“And you were transported here from there or what?” she asked, confused as well. “You know what, forget it. That’s your business.”

“Transported from prison to here, that’s all there is to it really.”

“Yeah?” She frowned, feeling slightly confused as she asked further. “How come you are here then instead?”

“They needed more empty cells so they sold some of their well behaved inmates and here we are.”

“Oh my god,” she chuckled. “Oh man. You’re funny. It’s supposed to be shitty, so you have an incentive to make the leaders like you. Where did you come from?”

“It’s not much of an incentive, I’m not going to start being nice to them because of a place like this. Rather this than pleasing them,” honestly, who did these people think he was? “None of your business where I came from.”

“I can’t say I’ve seen anyone get into a fight since I’ve been here but I guess you’re right. It could happen.” Charlie shrugged. “I was in a cage in some basement somewhere in Italy.” Charlie answered nonchalantly, not thinking much of it. “It wasn’t all that pleasant really. This place is much better.”

“You probably get away with a lot more in jail,” he admitted with a small nod of his head. “How did you end up there? Were you kidnapped or something?” He didn’t really want to press too hard for details, but he was just curious about it and the different backgrounds people came from.

“They care just enough,” she replied with a wry smile.  “We get meals and baths.  A leader might allow you to keep books in your cell.  I do not think that the guards are actively allowed to harm us.  Without leave anyway.  But it somehow puts a sour taste in your mouth when you realize that the only reason that we get even those small benefits is so that the leaders will find us…palatable, da?”

“It means nothing if you still act like an asshole so no one will like you,” which would probably be what would happen with him. No one really ended up liking him in the long run and he doubted thee high up individuals would either. Not that it mattered to him.

This made Riley slap her thigh and laugh. “Are you kidding me?” she asked incredulously. “You’re a sex slave. They mentioned that part, right?”

“Yes I know that,” he huffed quite angrily. “That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have some kind of standards, or do they want their slaves to get ill or something?”

“Come from another trafficking system?” She asked, knowing that this was not the only ‘slave trade’ there was. Just the most popular, it seem. 

“Uh, no,” he raised a brow. “I come from normal prison and before that a normal orphanage.”

“And yet it seems like you’re already aware on where you are,” she countered, the same reason why she asked that question. Most of the people down here were confused during their first day but the male wasn’t.

“Well it is kind of obvious,” he stated with a shrug of a shoulder, “I don’t know exactly where I am, but I know my situation and that is more or less the same thing.”
