Watching old Robron scenes and I just got to the scene where Adam and Aaron find a new place to start their scrap business.
But Adams reaction to hearing the news is so funny. Like he just starts off by saying "gooooooood".
I feel like Kammy and Adam were cut from the same cloth because I definitely could image Kammy responding the same way.
If the show ever gives Aaron a bio kid, I wonder if the show would do a neonatal abstinance syndrome storyline. It is a pretty heavy topic to put onto Aaron but I think it would be a really good way to teach people about it.
Also, I feel with the luck Aaron has with surrogacy, it would make sense that a person who agrees to be a surrogate for a ex - con might have a troubled past, like drug addiction.
This might be sad, but Aaron and Robert's child born with this syndrome could have long lasting side effects, which lead to longevity in story telling, such as learning troubles, hearing and sight issues, etc.
Watching old emmerdale episodes with young Robert and comparing it to now, you don't really hear about school issues any more or even see school scenes. Coronation Street at least shows their school. The show could touch upon how the syndrome effects school for children.
Lastly, the surrogate doesnt have to stick around after the birth, which gives the child more story arcs later on and gives the mother more depth in why she might not have wanted to stick around. Kinda like Chas's motivation for leaving Aaron, except it would be related to drug addiction.
The farm stone episode was so interesting, especially when Robert said the line about feeling compelled to touch the stone, which sounded like OCD.
I wonder if the show turned away from the PTSD because they want to establish Robert struggling with OCD patterns and OCD thoughts. As well as it being a genetic trait because he said his whole family did it too.
The show doesnt need to point blank say it but it could be a multi generation arc that follows future Sugdens, including Seb or Harry.
There was a young girl named Liv on Coronation Street today, I felt my heart ache because it reminded me of Liv from Emmerdale and how we won't see her ever again.
I just really miss her.
I have a theory that the show is giving the slavery storyline and it's aftermath so much screentime now because even the producers realize the story isnt working.
They just want to finish it so they can focus the rest of this years episodes entirely on the farm and other storylines with the rest of the cast.
I really hope this is the case.
I am so torn between wanting Mack to become roommates with Robert and Aaron after the baby reveal and wanting Mack to read Aaron for filth for getting engaged to Robert again.
Specifically wanting Mack to read Aaron for filth after witnessing Aaron take Robert back during the Kev saga and after Mack learns about Robert planting evidence on Moira, who is not just Mack's sister but Adam's mum. Both who are Aaron's best friends. Mack should not be understanding just because Robert did it for Victoria.
Forget Graham coming back from the dead, I am suspending my disbelief that a best friend would not be calling their friend stupid for getting engaged to their ex again, especially if that ex does the things Robert does.
Unpopular opinion: I like Joe and Dawn's weird relationship.
However, I do need the show to lean more into the fact that the Home Farm money is changing Dawn for the worse, which I love.
I know people hated them, but I loved the show focusing on Gabby and Vinny as a married couple.
I just wished the show had dived deeper into the reason they didnt work out or why they wanted to be together. I also wish that the show had continued the saga of Gabby's love for women, I usually don't get invested in single character arcs very often, I am more interested in love stories, but Gabby is so intriguing that I find myself wanting to watch a saga of just Gabby discovering her life and possible bisexuality. I find myself invested in Gabby how I invest in Aaron's story.
If they wanted to make her have a female partner after her doscovering, they could have had her be married to Vinny, maybe trying for a baby of their own and Gabby starts to fall for a new female villager.
Also, Gabby could be frightened about what her feelings mean and maybe reached out to Robert, furthering the connection between Robron and Gabby. Which I find odd doesnt exist already, as Gabby was Liv's bestfriend.
The story was right there, so I don't understand why they didn't go for it. They were bringing new characters in anyway and having Robert back would have started a whole show narrative of revisiting lost loves, forging new paths, and facing past regrets for all the characters. Yet they choose to focus on crazy husband parellels and new boring couples.
The show has definitely been more desperate by seeking bigger names to fill roles in the show rather than focusing on chemistry and ability to act the part.
I was watching 2025 episodes again and I just had thoughts about the direction of the Kev/prison saga.
There was that moment where Kev broke into Aaron's flat and yelled at Aaron. I saw it as a gif first and than watched the episode later. I thought it was pretty scary moment in the gif based off the words Kev was saying and Aaron's reaction. But actually seeing the episode and hearing Kev, he didn't sound threatening at all and sounded more like a man - child.
Was it common in the past for Emmerdale to get semi- well known actors and actresses to play roles. Because it feels like the character descriptions are not fitting the actors that are chosen for the roles. Like Kev was suppose to be scary but turned into a mess.
I still think that Robert should have married a female prison guard character instead and he felt justified in marrying her because she faced prison by being in a relationship with him. I do bet that some in the fandom or GA would complain about redundancy by marrying a women again. But nothing is better to show how people change than placing them in the same situation and see them react differently. Which is what Aaron and Robert would do.
The show could still do that too. Start fresh with the prison storyline. Maybe have it be that Robert did still marry Kev but was also flirting and gaining favours with a female prison guards. Maybe thats how Kev and Robert were allowed in the same cell.
Maybe it doesnt have to be female, maybe a male prison guard and we get to see how Robert uses his charm to bring people in, but struggles to keep friends. We can see Robert use his charm for the purpose of friendship instead of romantic purposes. Newer audiences members do not understand why Robert struggles to make friends, this could be a way to introduce them to why Robert has that problem.
I do wonder if they are setting up a parallel between Robert's life and Seb's by focusing on lossing a mum when they were very young. It might also be setting up Robert and Aaron having another child, similar to Jack and Sarah having Vic.
The issues I have is there is alot more to Robert's trauma than this and I do want the show to forget Rebecca. She was not a integral character like Pat was (Pat and Jack were literally in love) and its pretty lame writing to keep trying to make parallels when there shouldnt be.
They did this parallel writing with Robert and Aaron and it doesnt work well because even if their similar, they are still two seperate characters with different motivations.
As for Seb, he has already had a different life from Robert, like sure both were born on the show but Seb is closer to becoming Joe Tate than Robert. And I feel like Joe Tate is a wet towel.
Which is a issue because there are people who already dislike Seb, so having him off screen will not endear him to the audience in any way compared to if we watched him grow up. And if he does come back and drones on about Rebecca, I do not care enough about either Seb or Rebecca to have sympathy.
This is coming from someone who likes Seb because Aaron loves Seb
Now if Seb comes back to Emmerdale when he's older and he finds out that he has a little brother raised by Robert and Aaron, than I am intrigued, even more intrigued if Harry comes back sooner and treats that kid like his own little brother.
The undertaker dropping off John's ashes and running away is less farfetched when we remember John was a wanted criminal and if the undertaker was curious enough, one online search of the Sugden's name would bring up Robert's history too.
The undertaker might have also been intrigued about who John's husband was and even looked up Aaron online, which would have led him to many news stories involving the Dingles, specifically Cain.
My headcanon is that the undertaker is just a busy body and also did not want to hold onto the ashes of a murderer/husband of a person in a possible crime family.
Though based on my assessment of this person, they sound like they would get on great with Nicola.
I had a thought about Graham returning.
Joe has done so many bad things to so many people that it seems unfair that he is the only person who gets to have a parental figure come back from the dead.
People say they should have brought uncle Joe back or anyone else. That its Robert that deserves more family added.
But as I thought longer about it, and really this story just fits Joe Tate so well.
He is someone that always got what he wanted in his life and never faced any consequences.
He lost Graham and mourned him, but Graham deciding to come back is not letting Joe experience what every character on the show experiences, which is NOT getting what you want in life.
In fact, no one in Joe's life allows him to not get what he wants.
Joe lost his mum, he gets Kim; he lost his dad, he gets Graham; he wants a family, he gets Dawn, her kids, and maybe a new baby.
Comparing Joe to someone like Aaron, Robert, or even Vic, all of them having to fight so hard to just barely grasp what they want in life. For Robert who has to fight to get his family back and who keeps fighting to keep everything together. He is the opposite of Joe.
I just find it interesting that Graham returning highlights how entitled Joe really is.
I don't understand Robert's line to Joe about not caring about himself or when Robert walked up to the gun John was holding in Corriedale. Robert is known to care about himself above all else, and while he does sacrifice alot for his family, he never was someone who didn't care for his own life and safety.
After watching past clips of Robert and even post prison return, Robert still has a lot of self preservation. Marrying Kev was literally an example of his self preservation trait manifesting to handle prison. Why did he suddenly become so suicidal, is this related to PTSD symptoms?
I don't know, I just always felt it was Aaron that has that lack of self preservation trait. I feel like they are switching Aaron and Robert's personalities. With what Aaron went through, it would make more sense for Aaron to have C-PTSD or BPD, but the show had Graham fake his death, so realism is going out the window.
I don't understand why the show never gave Aaron a child after Robert left. It would have been amazing to see Aaron with his own baby that no one can take away.
Like why does Aaron only get to be a dad through Robert, why is he fed scraps of fatherhood through straight people and Robert? Why did they write the story that way?
If the answer is because thats just not viable story telling to give Aaron his own child, than thats bull.
Seeing a parent with mental health issues trying to raise a child with the best of their abilities would resonant with me so hard, as someone who was raised by that type of parent. Alas, the nuance the storyline would need is not up to par with the current producers and writers abilities.
Also, if Aaron needed to leave the village for his own sanity, he could have entrusted Paddy to look out for his child, like Chas did for Aaron. Maybe improving the Chas and Paddy friendship by bonding over their shared grandchild.
I also understand that having Aaron have a child is just adding to the Dingle brood. But the show has shown time and time again that the Dingles reject Aaron when its convenient and Aaron is already so intertwined with the Sugdens. Like one more push and his name will become Aaron Sugden.
I do feel like the show is setting up for Robert and Aaron to take care of Eve because Paddy and Chas won't be around forever. But that isn't Aarons child, thats his little sister. Its still the same as Seb. Aaron is fed scraps of fatherhood through straight couples.
I truly see the show having a storyline in the future where the mafia comes after Aaron and threatens his family. This than causes Aaron to go to Graham to get help faking his own death to protect his family. This creates a whole lot of angst for Robert and Aaron, and rather than have Aaron off our screens, the show could have scenes of Aaron just living in Hotten for a bit, hiding out.
I never really watched Hollyoaks but I saw part of a storyline where Jack Osbourne faked his death for insurance purposes and his family had him hiding out in the upstairs apartment.
I saw a lot of people say the producers and writers wrote for Hollyoaks, so I can see them doing a more darker version with Aaron's character in the future.
