A NEW FAMILY MEMBER
natethomson:
‘Hulk might work – if she were a boy. Not to gender-stereotype or anything, but I don’t think it really fits her,’ he shrugged. ‘She’s not really an angry green giant,’ he joked. With that, he took a long, much needed sip of his wine and couldn’t help but laugh when the kids began to make a mess. They usually always did, even with the simplest of meals. It was interesting to see how they could make a mess of grilled cheese – of course, the mess would be much larger if they were eating spaghetti like he and Cat were. And it was also a little adorable; as long as no one started throwing anything.
Within just a few moments, or at least what felt like a few moments, they were done with the grilled cheeses and with the fries on their plates. They were like vacuums when it came to food, so it wasn’t surprising to hear that they’d already eaten a lot at lunch time. ‘Are you saying you didn’t also have spaghetti and breadsticks – and are now having more spaghetti for dinner?’ he questioned, slightly joking, of course. ‘Me? Please. Have you met you?’
“I had chicken, thank you very much.” Cat said with a slight attitude but it was a joking one. She took a few more bites of her spaghetti before getting up to help the twins clean up a bit. It was a routine. She would eat a little bit of her food and then once the twins were done, pause and take care of them. It made it easier to get them into a routine. They’d eat, clean up, and go to their rooms for the rest of the night before knocking out and going to bed. “It’s crazy how the twins look more and more like us every day.” She looked at the two of them as she got out of her seat, grabbing their empty plates. “Don’t forget to tell dad about how you want to bake cookies with him this weekend.”
After rinsing off the plates and placing them in the dishwasher, Cat walked back over to the table and sat down. She’d give it a few more minutes before having the twins go off to their room, hopefully leaving the puppy behind. Having it sleep with them would be something to ease into. “ We have a lot of cookie dough ready to be baked this weekend.”
