These are some PMD OCs I made recently for a medieval setting. It takes place in a middle-age setting where, following a mysterious meteor strike that wipes out humankind (it’s the meteor holding the original dragon that, in the games, splits into Reshiram/Zekrom/Kyurem! It does not split in this story).
Following the strike, Infinity Energy (the seemingly endless supply of “magic” that allows Pokemon to use their elemental abilities, including moves) fully vanishes, leaving Pokemon powerless, ordinary, and at the whims of their own hands and feet.
Many Pokemon go totally extinct as a result of this (many ghost types), some species survive but are worse off, and some are more or less unaffected (normal types). Pokemon can no longer use moves.
Pokemon battles are just fights with swords.
Societies are built upon the ruins of human kingdoms. The original Legendary Dragon, which represents Rationality (the balance between truth and ideals), is worshipped as a monotheistic deity of Pokemon.
White chrysanthemums have lots of meanings depending on the culture you're taking as a reference. They can be symbols of purity, loyalty, devotion but also mourning, longing and grief, while we all know what the red spider lily are commonly known for: death, finality and separtion. I think they fit geisha Moon but I'm not good enough with words to explain it very well XD
aaaaaand he's playing a shamisen and he's got cherry blossoms on his kimono if you zoom in :)
I already drew Sun, I HAD to draw my bbgirl Moon too hsajkshjajsh
Speedpaint under the cut (even if it's just from the coloring on because I forgot to record the sketch and lineart bit, RIP)
Phouuufff, this man.. this man took me about a month to draft up, but he was worth every pixel to bring him to life!
Finally, an animatronic that is a proper DCA and not a standalone type, and working closer to getting serious headway done on the AU projects. Little.. ah.. daunted at how many characters that need to be done with how long this lad took, but then again this is only the first full ref. Speed will come with practice.. I hope...
Meet Siren - Pauri's second-in-command for the Breakroom AU household as the resident handyman and chef. Woe to the foolish individual who tampers with his carefully curated kitchen space, lest they find out how effectively he can sharpen his claws on their chassis!
About the Character -
Palette is based off of copper pennies and patina
Approximately 9 ft (274 cm) tall
Can move all arms independently or synced with each other per side as needed.
Sports three rows of semi-mobile rays despite being a fully coded Sun-Type model. He suspects this is for intimidation reasons when handling his wards.
Bears the pronounced canines found in Moon models, but rarely ever brings them to bear in a bite when his claws suffice.
Favors business casual dressage with the use of khakis, flannels, and fleece button-ups.
Typically speaks with a rumble, but only raises his tone in agitation.
Often modifies his own shirts to accommodate his arms. He has yet to find a tailor willing to work with him and keep his whereabouts on the low.
Slitted pupils rarely fully dilate, and more often constrict in agitation.
Sports similar sensors flanking each eye as Pauri to detect light source, and flash when actively recording, low on power, or in override mode.
Nimble and efficient in his movements. Despite his new life he always maintains a degree of readiness.
Closeup images of the ref below the cut!
Next up is Enos, and I'm very much looking forward to breathing life into his design :>

Was perusing Toyhouse while fighting with production-freeze chewing over a ref for a Breakroom character, and found this amalgam of a lad being offered up and looking a bit lonely.
So, I quickly snapped them up as fast as I could manage, because the brain started firing on the idea of an Eclipse being more of a warped amalgam of Sun and Moon with three distinct heads sharing a single body.
Their original name is Eclipseo, which I will leave as is and refer to them by the nickname of 'Seo' when talking about them!
This piece is what I've been calling a Vibe Card, where it's a loose and rough sketch on an index card in pen to capture the essence of the character, while also exploring potential tweaks and glow-up elements where it seems it would benefit the character. A few folks on a server I lurk in are interested in them, so I wanted to do a little pulse check here to see if it's something viable in the long run.
... I also seem to be perpetually drawn to characters with four arms... Despite the fact there are only a handful in my AUs that actually have four arms by design... ironically...
They're still more or less gelling in the backburner as to who/what they want to be, but overall vibe is forest-dwelling cryptid hermit who still remembers that it's considered Polite in cultured society to bring a baked good in return for being offered shelter from the rain for the night. They make a mean lemon poppy-seed bread it seems.
Plus bonus colored variant! Most of their original colors are kept on the design more or less in the same spots, with a few cohesion adjustments to better adapt them for my style.
I was downright determined to get something done for mermay as soon as I realised I could get drawing on my tablet again, and doing a follow-up to last year's mermay was a good enough inspiration
Hooollly cow I was not expecting the response these goobers got on just their vibe sketch alone! Needed to pause my ref work to give them a taste of what it'd be like in the Breakroom-verse they're moving into.
... They don't seem sure what to make of this strange place yet...
Artist note - I'm still figuring out how I want their juncture to look, so bear with me a bit as their design gets tweaked around until they settle!
