Okay, Magnus was back. He didnât exactly know how to explain this. Of course he knew that Magnus would be there to help the baby, that was Magnus, but bringing home a baby was not exactly what one would expect from their boyfriend. Especially not without notice. Maybe that was why he had the urge to make the tea for the both of them. With a sheepish look on his he held out a tea, but got surprised when his boyfriend basically rounded him to sit down on the other side of the baby.
It was not necessarily a bad sign even. He was interested in the baby and he was happy to see him, it was not bad. Alec placed the tea on the table in front of them. He still hadnât decided on a course of action of how to explain this so he just decided to wing it. âI was on patrol or wanted to go.â Honestly, with all he had to do recently, he had been looking forward to just go on patrolâŠand then the baby happened. âSomeone placed him in his basket onto the steps of the Institute.â It was something that often happened with little warlocks. Those claws could be scary for anyone who didnât know what it meant.
âThey wanted us to give him to a mundane orphanage, but honestly, he wouldnât have a good life there so I decided to take him with me. We can find a better solution for him, right?â If it was a warlock adopting it or anything else, he just wanted the baby to have a real chance at a happy childhood. âThatâs why I ditched patrol. He was more important. Heâs quite cute, I think.â
Alecâs words had Magnus look from the baby to his boyfriend, the confused look changing to a mix of light shock and admiration at the same time. by now he thought he had Alec figured out, or at least most of him, but this was something new, something unexpected and something that made Magnus smile. âSo your first instinct was to take the baby in and care for it, and your second one to bring the little one to a warlock knowing he would have a better life with one than with a mundane family? Alexander, you never fail to surprise me,â he smiled at him, though his attention was once again stolen by the baby.
Now, Magnus wasnât really one to know how to handle babies, though he was willing to try, so he carefully picked the baby up and cradled the boy in his arms, noticing how immediately the small claws got out as the baby tensed and once again, like before, retracted once he relaxed. âHe truly is quite a cute one, already knows how to show that he means serious with his tiny claws,â Magnus commented, looking at Alec.
âI think there is certainly a better solution to his living conditions than a mundane orphanage.â Even if the boy would be adopted, the older he would grow, the more of his warlock would come out, and the last thing he wanted was something happening to him like it did to Magnus. âI suppose he can stay here for now. Catarina knows quite a bit about kids, but maybe... do you think the two of us could do it?â
