There is definitely no way to pass the mountain without climbing it. In fact, when you turn around, you notice mountains have begun to spring up all across the horizon. Some of them, near the first (and largest) make the slope a little more tolerable, and a little less daunting.

You may feel a brief, passing urge to play basketball.

You begin to notice clouds circling, up at the top of the mountain. You can’t see, from here, what might be up there, but there’s one way to find out.

You squint up to the top of the mountains, letting a rare frown grace your lips before you sheathe your trident in a holster on the back of your armor (wait, how did that get there? How did you know it was there? It felt natural to you, like you’ve been doing it your whole life) and start forward, at first taking a slow incline up the mountain range before the ascent becomes sharper and you have to take out your pick for safety.

It will take you several hours to reach the summit of just one.

You’re momentarily unable to react, even to think of what to do. Instinctively, your fingers tighten around your 2x3dent for some semblance of comfort. At least the colors on your armor are correct?

Actually, you kind of like this style. You take a moment to admire it, but not too long, before you start to wander about and explore. Your hair has been done back in a braid, so you don’t have to worry about it getting in the way while you walk.

It seems serendipity has truly thought of everything.

As you walk, you notice the weather change. Where it was sunny and warm before, now, you feel a chill crawl over the exposed parts of your skin. It nips at your neck and bites at your nose.

(If you hadn’t noticed it before, you probably notice your armor has leather lining. It seems serendipity has truly thought of everything.)

Dew settles on the grass, and dew turns to frost, then frost to snow. Snow falls softly from clouds that gather above, turning the colorful setting into a grim, monochromatic scene, with undertones of blue and an ominous feeling.

Up ahead of you lies a mountain.

You’re not sure what to make of the sudden weather change, but you’re definitely not going to brave a mountain without proper preparation and oh wait, you already have a canteen and a pick. Well, so much for that, you guess.

You follow the road toward the base of the mountain, gradually getting used to moving in the armor and getting more comfortable with it. Soon enough, it feels almost like a second skin. You adjust the crown - oh, your crown is back, how nice! - on your forehead and fix your goggles. No, wait, you’re not wearing goggles! You don’t need goggles to see?

Something about this is starting to strike you as weird. (Gee, what gave you that hint?)

You search the mountain for some sort of way to pass through without having to climb them.
