He had wanted to send her a gift, something meaningful that would remind her of him and keep her company. At first he thought jewelry would be a fine idea, but Kaya had a natural beauty that it felt like putting any sort of stone on her would be insulting.
Clothes weren't personal enough, and he didn't want to risk getting her sick if Usopp picked a perfume that would trigger her illness.
So when Nami mentioned the idea of a plush doll, it felt fitting enough.
Though now it seemed to just have been an excuse to buy one herself, on his coin of course.
"Do you think they'd have something that specific? What about a slingshot? Or a headband!?"

The extra work would make it all the more personal. Kaya was the type to appreciate something like that, Nami was sure. Usopp could probably carve her a whistle, and Kaya would be elated by the thought behind it.
That did give Nami an idea, though. She stopped, abruptly, swiveling on her heel to face Usopp, whiskey brown eyes, bright and wide, practically sparkling under fluorescent lighting.

Teeth captured her lip, a failed attempt to bite back her bright, excited grin. As greedy as she could be, Nami enjoyed shopping --- and it was impossible not to be captured by the excitement of gift giving. Especially to one of their loved ones back home.
