Then the scammer uses their account to send more messages and continue the cycle. TUMBLR STAFF WILL NEVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD OR FOR MONEY OR TELL YOU TO CHANGE YOUR EMAIL! My friend @thestargayzingetherian was unfortunately tricked and her account is under control of the scammer. Ignore her messages, report them to tumblr staff saying that her account has been hacked. Stay safe!!

I feel like I gotta point out -- this is hypervigilance, it's a trauma response, and it is not always right.

It can be very effective, and it can be really hard to learn to second-guess it, especially if you come from an environment where you couldn't check or trust people to be honest with you. But you have to learn to second-guess that instinct -- because it's not empathy, it's projection. You don't "know" what someone's feeling, you're assuming, based on an assumption that's kept you safe in the past.

If you trust your overtuned trauma response over the actual people around you, it will harm your relationships with them.
