“You forget how well I actually know you and you say that now but in the back of your mind the only thing you’ll be thinking is about what the sound was from outside. So I’ll go confirm that it’s just Noah and then I’ll go ahead and tell you about my day.” With a light amused smile, the man went to check outside the loft, and found that just as he had suspected, the thump had come from their neighbor coming home completely drunk, fumbling to get into his apartment. Helping him out, Hudson went back and locked the door behind him. “See—nothing to worry about.” Playing with Scarlet’s fingers he spoke to his daughter directly. “Right? It’s nothing to worry about, right Scar.”
Catherine sighed softly and waited for Hudson to return. Only then could she breathe relieved. This whole was worried her. Not because of what might happen to her, but rather to this beautiful angel in her arms. She would die and kill if necessary, in order to protect her. Was she being a little too exaggeratedly protective? Probably. Smiling, Catherine too spoke to her daughter. The first way to keep her safe from any danger, was to ensure a happy environment. Babies were affected a lot by their parents’ -- mother’s especially -- feelings. “Scarlet, where is daddy? Is this -- is this your daddy? Come on, greet him properly. Say hi daddy, I’ve missed you.”
