((Sorry for the business, I'm moving tomorrow so I won't be on much today or tomorrow))
She didn’t mind Garret playing with her hair.  "Just no yanking on it, mister." She said as the little bat toddler grabbed and pawed at her hair with his tiny claws.  "How old is he? How long have you and Mike had the little guy?"
Garret had her full attention. She wish she hadn’t stayed away from her friends so long now.  There was probably so much she didn’t know yet, and Deluxe wasn’t the most interesting place to live, either.
"A little over a year old…" he answers with a small smile, gently reaching over and patting the little bat child on the head quite lovingly. Garret responds to this by happily swatting at his ‘mother’s’ hand for a couple of seconds before he continues playing with Julie’s hair, cooing happily.
"Ruby’s been helping us take care of him," She was usually the one he and Mike turned to when they needed someone to babysit the little bat so they could go out, either to do jobs or simply have a break.
"The young girl from your LARPing? I remember her. Â Ruby, yes, she was pretty nice." She put Garret up on her shoulders so the little guy could easily access her hair while she talked to Chuck. Â "Well I'm glad you guys at least had other friends down here to turn to while I was gone."
"What happened with Texas, Dutch, Jacob, and Roth? Are they still around or....?"
"…..Chuck….you were turned into a Bat creature, at this point, nothing actually surprises me…." She said in monotone.  Her voice went back to normal.  "So do you count as the mother and Mike as the father?" She asked as she rubbed her nose against the baby burner’s. Â
"Aww, whose a cute little boy? I think you are, you little cutie pattotie!" She told Garret.  She laughed.  She couldn’t believe she missed this.
All Chuck could give as a response to this was a sort, embarrassed little chuckle. Ok, yeah, she had a point but a lot of other people didn’t believe the idea before so he wasn’t all that sure. Though he perks up a little at the second question and nods with a small smile.
"Technically, yeah…" is the murmured answer given while he watches Julie bond with his son. Garret, in the meanwhile, offered a giggle as his response to the attention, the wings on his back flapping happily and tail wiggling just a little bit. Curious, he reaches out and paws at Julie’s hair just a little bit, squeaking softly.
She didn't mind Garret playing with her hair. Â "Just no yanking on it, mister." She said as the little bat toddler grabbed and pawed at her hair with his tiny claws. Â "How old is he? How long have you and Mike had the little guy?"

She grinned and held the cute little toddler close when she was given him.  "Oh gosh, you’re lighter than I expected." She giggled at his little happy squeals.  "How old is he?" She used one hand to hold him and the other to tickle under his chin when Garret had a tight grip of her vest.
She ruffled his hair again. “How did you get him? Is he genetically yours or did you find him? I mean obviously he looks like you and…..well actually Mike…." She put 1 and 1 together.  "………No way…..How?"
"A little over a year old…" he answers with a small smile, happily watching as Garret snuggles up to Julie quite happily and nuzzles her. The little bat was clearly rather affectionate even if he had been interrupted from his nap. Though when Julie questions how he got Garret, well, he can’t help but rub the back of his head.
"Well… this is gonna sound weird," this was funny for him to say considering his looks, “But these people have shown up lately… they have no faces and can use magic…. basically they kind of… made Garret happen."
".....Chuck....you were turned into a Bat creature, at this point, nothing actually surprises me...." She said in monotone. Â Her voice went back to normal. Â "So do you count as the mother and Mike as the father?" She asked as she rubbed her nose against the baby burner's. Â
"Aww, whose a cute little boy? I think you are, you little cutie pattotie!" She told Garret. Â She laughed. Â She couldn't believe she missed this.
She couldn’t help but feel warm inside.  She was still part of the family.  At least…..according to Chuck.  His acceptance was probably the most important to her.  She noticed Garret making grabby hands….paws…..whatever those were counted as at her.  She couldn’t help but give the little guy a grin and hold out a hand for him to take.  He probably wanted her to pick him up.  She held out both hands.  "….Can I….?" She looked to Chuck to see if she could take the little brunet from him.
Now he can’t help but let out a little laugh, adjusting the toddler in his arms before gently depositing him into Julie’s own. “Of course," Chuck saw no reason why she shouldn’t be allowed to hold Garret. She was still family and the little brunet had yet to bond with her like he had with his parents and Ruby.
Garret becomes rather gleeful as he’s handed over to Julie, squealing happily and easily grabbing onto her clothes as he usually did with people in order to prevent himself from slipping out of their grip and suffering a fall.
She grinned and held the cute little toddler close when she was given him. Â "Oh gosh, you're lighter than I expected." She giggled at his little happy squeals. Â "How old is he?" She used one hand to hold him and the other to tickle under his chin when Garret had a tight grip of her vest.
She ruffled his hair again. "How did you get him? Is he genetically yours or did you find him? I mean obviously he looks like you and.....well actually Mike...." She put 1 and 1 together. Â ".........No way.....How?"
She tilted her head, looked back at the little brunette on Chuck, and looked a bit confused. ‘Aunt?’  She wasn’t an aunt to anyone. “Aunt? What do you mean?" She looked at Chuck.  "You guys still….talk about me like part of the burner family?"
This made her feel even worse about staying away from them without a word.  She never even said goodbye in person, only a holoscreen saying: ‘I’m sorry guys, I can’t keep doing this…..Kane is my father….I didn’t want you guys to know because I was afraid you would hate me.  I’m so sorry what happened to Chuck and I hope you guys keep fighting.  This is all my fault.’  She wondered if they ever got that message or was the transmission was lost….?
Ears twitch and Chuck lifts his head to look at Julie again, offering a soft smile to her. “Course we do, Jules…" he answers quietly, using the nickname that Mike usually used for her because it was familiar. Like he had said, he didn’t blame her for anything that had happened to him. He didn’t blame any of the Burners for what happened. The only one he blamed was Kane and Kane alone. It was his twisted experiments and ideas that made him this way, not Julie.
Garret blinks and looks between his Aunt and ‘Mother’ for a couple of seconds until he lets out another little squeak and reaches toward her with a curious expression and slightly grabby, clawed hands.
She couldn't help but feel warm inside. Â She was still part of the family. Â At least.....according to Chuck. Â His acceptance was probably the most important to her. Â She noticed Garret making grabby hands....paws.....whatever those were counted as at her. Â She couldn't help but give the little guy a grin and hold out a hand for him to take. Â He probably wanted her to pick him up. Â She held out both hands. Â "....Can I....?" She looked to Chuck to see if she could take the little brunet from him.
"Hey little cutie……I’m Julie…." She said softly. She ruffled his hair.  She smiled gently at him before looking back at Chuck.  "I still wish I could have saved you from everything that happened…"
She took a step back from them.  "I shouldn’t even be down here, but there was something I had to do….  I’d be going back to Deluxe but all exits are blocked off by my father’s bots…."
Chuck blinked at this info before frowning a bit at the idea of bots blocking the exits, that wasn’t good. Opening one of his screens, the blond sends a quick message to Mike. Though Mutt was here, his fiance had a job far too close by to require a car and would make using her a little pointless.
While his mother is doing this, Garret seems to perk up immediately at the mention of Julie’s name. “Auntie…?" he questions, having been told of the redhead even before meeting her. She’d always been referred to as ‘aunt Julie’ when she was spoken of, so that was how the little bat knew her, as his aunt.
She tilted her head, looked back at the little brunette on Chuck, and looked a bit confused. 'Aunt?' Â She wasn't an aunt to anyone. "Aunt? What do you mean?" She looked at Chuck. Â "You guys still....talk about me like part of the burner family?"
This made her feel even worse about staying away from them without a word. Â She never even said goodbye in person, only a holoscreen saying: 'I'm sorry guys, I can't keep doing this.....Kane is my father....I didn't want you guys to know because I was afraid you would hate me. Â I'm so sorry what happened to Chuck and I hope you guys keep fighting. Â This is all my fault.' Â She wondered if they ever got that message or was the transmission was lost....?
She let out a shaky sigh.  "Oh thank god he didn’t…….son….?"  She blinked at the little.  "That’s….confusing but oddly……..adorable…."  She lowered her voice.  "Sorry….I guess I scared the little guy…."Â
She couldn’t help but lean forward and slowly pet the little guy’s back that stuck out of the fur gently.  "….I missed a lot, didn’t I…..He’s so soft…." She couldn’t help but give a small smile.
Unable to help a small smile, Chuck simply watches as Julie runs her hand over the little brunet’s back. “Come on, Gare-bear…. it’s alright," indeed Julie had frightened him a little bit but, slowly, the toddler unburies himself from Chuck’s fur in order to peer out and look at Julie with an eye as green as Chuck’s.
"… Hi?" he chirped softly.
"Hey little cutie......I'm Julie...." She said softly. She ruffled his hair. Â She smiled gently at him before looking back at Chuck. Â "I still wish I could have saved you from everything that happened..."
She took a step back from them. Â "I shouldn't even be down here, but there was something I had to do.... Â I'd be going back to Deluxe but all exits are blocked off by my father's bots...."
She calmed down after a minute of him comforting her.  "I’m, sorry…just ever since……..I’ve always blamed…." She sighed. Even if he didn’t blame her, she’d still blame herself.  She wallowed in pity until she heard some odd types of clicking noises. Â
"Wha…..?" She said said softly before seeing what had made the other life form on her screen.  A bat……like Chuck…..but smaller…. "……What is…..is that a kid…..like a child….but…..oh god did my dad experiment on others too?!" She nearly had a heart attack. “Oh god.  Please tell me he didn’t transform a young child into…"
Julie was working herself up into a nervous wreck and that really needed to be stopped. Raising his free clawed hand in a placating manner, Chuck waves a little bit and offers a nervous smile before speaking. “No no no, relax…Kane didn’t do anything to him," shuffling on his feet just a bit, Chuck is a little amused when Garret responds to the noise by whining and hiding in his chest fur.
"He’s… my son."
She let out a shaky sigh. Â "Oh thank god he didn't.......son....?" Â She blinked at the little. Â "That's....confusing but oddly........adorable...." Â She lowered her voice. Â "Sorry....I guess I scared the little guy...."Â
She couldn't help but lean forward and slowly pet the little guy's back that stuck out of the fur gently. Â "....I missed a lot, didn't I.....He's so soft...." She couldn't help but give a small smile.
Her eyes widened.  "Ch-chuck…?" She choked out. She nervously went up to the third floor.  She ran her fingers through her red hair.  "Its okay….this is fine….he’ll be fine….he won’t hate you…." She murmured to herself as she went.
When she got up there her eyes were closed.  She slowly opened them and saw Chuck.  She couldn’t help but gasp and put her hands over her eyes.  Her dad had made him a monster.  He had the small features which obviously made him look like Chuck, but he was so….different.  "Oh god, I’m so so so sorry, I should have saved you….I should have pressed more about you…..this is all my fault!" She sobbed. Â
This… honestly surprised him. Adjusting his son to one arm, the bat blinked and gently reached out to pull his old friend into a one armed hug. “Hey hey hey…. Julie, come on, I don’t blame you…. I don’t blame any of you…" he assures her gently, trying to at least coax her down from sobbing to just sniffling. He couldn’t stand to see the redhead cry, it wasn’t usually like her but considering the circumstances, he couldn’t blame her.
The noise manages to rouse Garret, coaxing the bat child to yawn and click out of confusion as to what had woken him up from his nap.
She calmed down after a minute of him comforting her. Â "I'm, sorry...just ever since........I've always blamed...." She sighed. Even if he didn't blame her, she'd still blame herself. Â She wallowed in pity until she heard some odd types of clicking noises. Â

Please tell me he didn't transform a young child into..."
She looked around the building for cars, people, heck, even a trashcan filled to the brim…..but, there was no sign of anyone or life.  She slowly walked up to the door and tried the handle.  Unlocked.  She walked back to 9Lives and scanned the place. Â
Two dots were on it.  People were here.  She smiled a little to herself before frowning again.  She had no clue who it really was inside.  Hopefully someone she knew.  She prayed to god it wouldn’t be two murderers or rapists.
She slowly went in and headed to the where she found the two heartbeats to be and knocked on the door.  "Um hello….? Is anyone in there? I need some help…."Â
She slowly opened the unlock door and peeked in. Â "H-hello?"
Heading to the entrance of their apartment, Chuck unlocks and slides the door open which causes the hinges to creak a little bit. His ears catch the sound of Julie’s voice from downstairs and he can’t help but smile a little bit, adjusting Garret in his arms while the little bat snuffles and then settles back down into his fur.
"Up here, Julie…" the experiment calls, voice sounding rather chipper and happy. What reason did he have not to be? Smiling, the blond simply waits up on the third floor to see what would happen now.
Her eyes widened. Â "Ch-chuck...?" She choked out. She nervously went up to the third floor. Â She ran her fingers through her red hair. Â "Its okay....this is fine....he'll be fine....he won't hate you...." She murmured to herself as she went.

"Oh god, I'm so so so sorry, I should have saved you....I should have pressed more about you.....this is all my fault!" She sobbed. Â
It had been a while since she was in Motorcity.  It felt like forever since she laid in the fuzzy pink seat in 9Lives.  Her clothes weren’t the white and light blue they had been day in and day out, making her feel out of place.  Motorcity wasn’t her home anymore.  Deluxe was.  So why was she back here? Â
She had been guilt-stricken by what had happened to Chuck at the hands of her father. Â She did nothing to save him. Â She did nothing at all. Â She was a coward for not pushing harder or saving her friend from the mutations her father made him go through. Â She was just as bad as her father for doing nothing. Â She sighed.Â
Julie swore never to come back here, but her father had an extremely dangerous machine out here. Â She had to destroy it. Â Or stop it somehow at least. Â
When she got to the area it was at, she had to blast down some bots.  It wasn’t too hard.  She got out of her car and easily got into the place the machine was held with codes she stole from Tooley’s desk.  She deactivated the machine once she got in and put it on a self destruct.  When she left she did scan.  There were no living creatures besides her…..but by putting a self destruct on, the machine sent out a signal she wasn’t aware of.  There were now Kane bots at every exit of the city.  She wouldn’t be able to leave without a fight.  A fight back to the surface meant her dad coming.  Her dad coming meant she could be found out.  She needed help. Â
She didn’t want to, but she didn’t have a choice.  She looked through her old contacts and found Mike’s.  She used it to get a signal as to where Mutt was.  Maybe her old friend would help her…he always did before, even though she felt guilty about everything. Â
She only hoped she didn’t see Chuck. Anyone but him.
The signal brought her to an apartment. Â She got out of her car and looked at it. Â What now? Was there anyone inside?.
Inside and completely unaware to what was going on at the moment, Chuck is currently settled on the couch while rubbing his son’s back in order to lull him to sleep. Despite being old enough to walk around a little bit on his own, Garret still insisted to cling to his mother’s fur when he became sleepy, even preferring it to his crib on some nights. Slowly the experiment stands up and begins to pace around the apartment a bit until a screen pops up, flashing red and bearing a ‘WARNING’ sign.
It was the alarm that he had set up to the house. Grip tightening on Garret just a little, he opens the lines to the cameras and is surprised to find 9Lives sitting outside. Julie? He hadn’t seen her in months, much like the Mike of this universe as well. Casually the alarm is turned off and the door unlocked to the main building. For a moment he casually wonders how long it will take her to find him.
She looked around the building for cars, people, heck, even a trashcan filled to the brim.....but, there was no sign of anyone or life. Â She slowly walked up to the door and tried the handle. Â Unlocked. Â She walked back to 9Lives and scanned the place. Â
