Anyone else come up with story/fanfic ideas at the most random times. Today, I was sitting in Church when all the sudden I had the idea of a light romance novel that uses urban exploring as a sub-genre element. Like why did idea pop in my head during Church?!?

YES. And, then, for the rest of the time, you are in agony because you cannot write it down until you return home or away from people… being a writer is a mix of pure agony and triumph at the power and freedom of creation.

(ALSO: PLEASE DO ELABORATE ON THE IDEA BECAUSE IT SOUNDS SO COOL! I have been attempting to come up with ideas with urban exploration integrated into the story, but I haven’t had a lot of luck…)

Writers want to be at the party, fully absorbing every conversation, clocking every weird thing anyone does, storing all of it, and then leave exactly 40 minutes before they get tired so they can go home and write about it. I think making character playlists is good for you and connected to analysis skills in a very fun way and low investment way. I know its seen as quite trivial but to me it operates the same way looking at a lot of art builds ur skills passively. Yummy enrichment activity

As a society, we need to go back to understanding that strangers on the internet are, you know, strangers. I feel lately that I'm seeing a rise in 'An author I love blocked me because they took my comment the wrong way' posts on the ao3 subreddit, and then the comment is them calling the author a fucking bitch or something like that.

Don't do this. Tone doesn't translate well in text, and if you don't have a rapport with that author, they are not going to interpret, 'You're a fucking bitch' as, 'Author I hate you for being so talented and making me feel so keenly.' They're going to interpret it as you being an asshole. You can shit talk with your friends because you have an established relationship with them and can distinguish between playful banter and genuine anger. You do not have this with a stranger, no matter how much you like their fics. You will have a much more pleasant time in fandom and not get cockblocked from interacting with your favorite writers if you remember this.
