I am CRYING. ;/ But I really think that it’s not a matter of Cas hurting Dean. To be honest, Dean is 10x stronger then Cas at this point, I don’t think Cas had the option of fighting back at all. Same as it was in 8x17, Cas was at full angel strength because of what Naomi was doing, Dean had zero chance in fighting back. So he took the beating (just like Cas did here in 10x22) and pleaded. 

Dean’s pleading was enough to break Cas’s connection to Naomi, but in the case of 10x22, Cas’s pleading was just enough to stop Dean from actually killing him. Additionally, I don’t think Cas was ever going to actually kill Dean in 8x17- honestly, I did not see that as an option, but with the road Dean has headed in s10 he could’ve very well ended Cas right there (if the show wanted it that way).

And then of course, Dean is scared so he is going to run off and tell Cas to leave him alone. Underneath all of those words it’s as if Dean is saying: Please, just go away, you see what I’ve done to you right? Next time, I may not stop. Cain wouldn’t stop. Cain relapsed, what makes you think I can control this? I’m losing it, I’ve lost it. Look what I’ve done to you. So leave me alone.

But will Cas do that? No, he won’t. Nor will Sam. This scene just…ugh. I love it, but hate it, but love it.
