The Darkness.

The darkness swallows me

Inside and out.

It hugs me first

Loosely

Then slowly gets tighter

And tighter

And once I start to feel it

It begins to slowly cover every

Single

Inch

Of

My

Body.

The tears escape my eyes only for an instant

Before I begin to feel it inside

It starts in my stomach

Then my mind

And then my heart

And then my blood.

It covers my body

And suddenly

I can’t muster a smile

Nor shed a tear.

And I realize

This is what I’ve been begging for

My whole life.

This empty feeling

Of nothing.

Everything I write

Is about me

Is that selfish?

I write about my scars

My past

The sad part of my mind

Because the happiness

Is rarely there

And when it is

What’s the point in writing about it?

The people who look for comfort

Are the ones who need it

So why would I write

For the people who don’t?

The happiness feels good

Not caring

Laughing

That warm feeling that consumes you

It’s a feeling we all know

Or most of us.

But the sadness comes

And in a way it’s sadly comforting

The wave of tears rowing down your face

The thoughts that make your heart race

The blanket heals the cold

On the outside of your skin

Yet it lingers

And it goes away

And your back to feeling warm

And the cycle repeats

And til the day you die

You will feel that cycle finally stop

And you will be left with nothing but

That sad feeling that only certain people can really understand.
