COLUMBIA--Ashley Smith, a junior at the University of Missouri and a hospitality management major, works at Ellis Library as a desk security attendant. "I act almost kind of like a secretary, I guess," says Smith. "I help patrons and students and visitors and direct them around campus and through the library. And I monitor a radio and help enforce Ellis' rules." Smith says that the first and last couple of weeks of each semester are the busiest for her. "In the last couple weeks of classes, some people are just now finding out where their classes actually are on campus because they haven't attended all semester. So, a lot of the time, they're panicking because they can't find their class and they have a final to get to."
