Having fun playing with macro photography tonight. Sorry for those of you who don't like spiders... I personally think they are pretty amazing little creatures. The spider on the right is so tiny in real life that I could not see all the intricate patterns on his body until I got close-up. Recently a good friend of mine, Janet, and her daughter, Lexi, came over to visit. Lexi is 11 and besides being a ham in front of the camera (see above) she also has an interest in photography... While they were over I let her take charge of the "big camera" for a while. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the images she captured. This one was probably one of my favorites:

It was a lot of fun talking photography with Lexi - she has a good eye and I see a lot of potential in her. It also reminded me of when I got interested in photography and the simple joy of taking photos and creating images. Here are just a few more images I snapped of Lexi... Love this kid!

Baseball season is finally here, which means I will be taking LOTS of pictures at the DBAP! One of my favorite challenges is shooting fireworks. This was one of my first attempts this season. It was definitely a really great learning experience. I have been playing around with the camera settings to get the exposure just right. A tripod is a must, for sure. I really was pleased with how this shot came out. I love how clear the streaks of light are. The only thing I would change is to be able to see more of the ballpark. But like I said I am using this first go round as a vital learning experience. I now have a much better idea of where to position myself for this next time!
