This is definitely a long time coming and far overdue:

But it's better late than never, right? she asks as she avoids things being thrown at her. I honestly feel so awful about the way things have been with this account. For a long time, it was my heart, but as college started, it unfortunately began to slide in terms of my priorities. Trust me, neither Eli nor I ever wanted to neglect this, but life happens. Our courseloads have increased this semester (16 hours for me, 18 for Eli), and while we loved our little RP, we really don't have time for it anymore. So, with heavy hearts, Eli and I would both like to regretfully announce that EclareSmirks is officially retired. It's been an incredible ride with one of my best friends, and while I cherish the time I spent here making friends and writing stories, it's time to step down as Clare.

I can't thank you guys enough for the love and support you've shown us. We wouldn't have been anything without your reblogs, likes, asks, and follows. Our run as RPers was incredible, and I'm wiping away a few tears writing this. You guys are the best, and I really do love how great you were as fans.

In that regard, I'm going to leave my OOC Tumblr under the cut. If you'd like to find out who I am, you're very welcome to do so, and if you'd prefer I stay Clare, then that's fine as well. Just know that I appreciate every last one of you and what you've done.

“It was great, babe. But it would have been better if you were there,” he said, winking at Clare. She laughed and playfully hit him. “I know, I know, none of that,” he said. Eli let go of her and she turned back around to begin cooking. “Go sit down,” she said, “I’m not letting you help.” He sat down at his little kitchen table, that Cece and Bullfrog willingly bought for him along with the apartment. “Am I at least allowed to watch,” he asked. “Yes, you may.” He remained at the table while watching Clare begin to prepare the chicken. He watched her swaying to the beat of the music in the background while sipping her glass of wine. She seemed so in the zone, and he took in how beautiful she looked, just doing the simplest of things. He poured himself his own glass of wine, sipping it slowly, getting into the music himself. “So what exactly are you making for us, my love?”

"Chicken in a white wine sauce over tomatoes, a little mozzarella, and angel hair pasta," she replied, stepping over to the stove to check the status of the sauce simmering there. "Sounds great, love," he replied, again struck by her grace. It was truly something for him to watch her move around in his kitchen as if it were her own, and he loved the implication of it all. One day, soon, she would do this every night, he thought as he sipped on his wine. He would come home to find her in the kitchen, swaying to the beat of a jazz song, waiting for him and cooking him dinner. His thoughts were interrupted as Palahniuk jumped in his lap. "Hey, girl," he whispered, rubbing the space between her ears. "Did you think I'd forgotten all about you?" The cat nuzzled his chest before settling in his lap, and he looked at Clare again, noting that she was still in her own little world, permitting him to stare at her more. The weight of the small animal stirred in his lap, and he reached down to pet her more. Clare continued to whirl around the kitchen in a flurry of curls and apron, and he smiled as she gasped, running to the refrigerator to grab an ingredient to add to the chicken. Seemingly satisfied with her work, she slid the dish into the oven and set it to bake, sighing contentedly. "I love you, you know that?" he said as he walked over to her, wrapping her up in his arms and kissing her on the nose. "I really, really love you, Clare."

If there was one thing that set the mood in Clare's mind for cooking, it was jazz music. Jazz permeated her home when she was a little girl, the sounds always signalling that her mother was beginning to cook dinner. She often saw her mother with a glass of wine and the ingredients spread before her, swaying slightly to the beat while she read the directions. It was from her that Clare took her cue now in making dinner for Eli. She docked her iPod in his kitchen and struck up the old Kurt Elling cd she had swiped before college, getting lost in the smooth rhythms as she poured herself a glass of white wine. This was definitely one of the perks to being nineteen, she thought as she sipped on the drink and looked at the recipe. The chicken dish seemed easy enough, but she wanted to get it exactly right. The thrill of cooking just for Eli and herself was riling her up, but she was nervous. They were playing house, as they often did, but something seemed different tonight. Perhaps it was the slightly expanding boundary of their physical relationship, but Clare could feel a subtle change in the air. Palahniuk wound around her ankles as she began to prepare the marinade, and Clare felt a small bit of comfort in that. It was dinner. For Eli. Who loved her very much. She wasn't going to burn the chicken, or mess up the pasta. She was going to make him the dinner of his life. She took a deep breath to affirm herself in that, and as she inhaled, a pair of arms circled her waist from behind, and a face burrowed into her neck. "Hey, sweetie," she whispered, turning around in his arms to kiss him lightly on the lips. "How was your shower?"

what was the last thing you and eli did together?

We're both bogged down with homework, so before we set out to work on that, we spent some time just snuggling and kissing. So nice. :)

Naps are the best! If you really need to relax, try having him rub your back for a while. That usually helps me. :)

I hope this isn't weird but I plan on sleeping with my bf soon (not sex just sleep) and I'm kinda nervous...was it ever this scary for you? Do you ever get un comfortable with Eli?

It's a little scary at first, of course. You're vulnerable when you sleep, and you're trying to relax while knowing someone is right there, listening to you breathing, holding you, and is very aware of any movements you make. If I were you, I'd try taking a nap together, first, just to get used to the idea, and work up to a whole night. It takes time to adjust to it, but once you do, it's wonderful. :)

We miss it, too! But with both of us settling in to college again, along with balancing our personal lives, this has kind of slipped through the cracks. Which we hate, honestly. We want to try, but it's a matter of making sure we have the time to properly devote to you guys.

Who isn't insecure about something? I may have things I don't like about myself, but Eli is always careful to make sure I don't let them get the best of me.

the kiss we shared after he told me he was in love with me for the first time. we were just lying on the couch, cuddling, and he told me. the kiss was soft, barely brushing each other's lips, but it held so much emotion and promise. if that's not intoxicating, I don't know what is...

The first thing I usually do when I see him is hug him. He smells really good all the time!
