↠ Bear with me as I come to realise I have multiple Special Interests / random momentary fixations and will not shut up about it but it's mostly Resident evil focused :D
↠ Now this blog can be random cause I can't decide on one topic for the life of me so I'll write, talk maybe even shit post about anything that flies by, don't sweat it if that doesn't work for you.
↠ I have ADHD and my mental stability is on a high way but I'm still slow, so apologies for that in advance.

Some headcanons for Leon that I have been cooking for some time:
Leon is a neat freak: As of the recent release, we don't exactly hear Leon complain about things being smelly but he still audibly groans when gets blood splattered all over him. I'm going to back track, I believe he wasn't exactly a neat person in RE2, I know they pulled back on him being wasted (bad break up), causing him to oversleep in a motel to him getting a call from the RPD to stay away in 2R. I'd still like to imagine that he was in fact not the neatest guy, maybe around average on that scale, but he was not exactly happy about walking through the sewers. Having survived through all that, the gore, the B.O.Ws that eventually became associated with being decaying, gore-y, unclean, he likely takes very good care of his hygiene. Of course he also has a tough relationship with it, because of his depression, but even then, I'd like to imagine he has particular things he can't stand seeing out of place. His hair for example.
He wears glasses: this one is a bit far fetched but stick with me here. I would like to imagine he wears it when he's at home, reading, relaxing. Not only does he have crows feet in Requiem, but he's not exactly a "smile so wide my mouth hurts" kind of person, when he does smile it's small (it's so cute) almost lopsided and leaning to a smirk. I imagine just one day he squints to read a report or article and someone at work was like, "why are you making that face?" And he shows them what he's reading, and says, "Does this look blurry to you?" And they respond with a no, which later forces him to get an eye test done, and he discovers that he's got presbyopia, so he get's glasses but he can't exactly wear it on missions so has special lenses when he has to go on missions. Of course, this is Leon, he's loaded so he might get surgery to correct it.
Leon is a collector: specifically for leather jackets. I've not seen a character so hooked on leather jackets since Leon, he's got to have so many that even if he loses one, he probably has the exact same jacket in his wardrobe so he doesn't exactly feel bad about losing one. I mean, the watches he wears are so expensive, just one of those Hamilton watches is enough for me to move out. Not mention his porche is also so goddam expensive, looking at the price made me just smile in resignation because holy wage gap. Besides, Leon loves his bikes, so imagine he takes long rides on his own wearing his favourite leather biker jacket.
He uses the best shampoo, conditioner, hair serum, oils: this is self explanatory, Leon has great hair. It also ties in well with him possibly being very neat. I imagine this is one of the things he's very particular about even when he's going through a lot of mental strain, he takes care of his hair well, I mean, there's hardly any grey strands even at 49, and I have a ton! Not mention, it looks fairly thick too, of course I can tell he blow dries it, combs it, sets it so it looks the best. I don't think he uses a lot though (he's not going to use a whole bottle of shampoo and conditioner like Sephiroth), but he still uses a fair amount to reach every inch of his scalp.
He's a phone call over text person: I mean, this is also self explanatory. He definitely calls someone when they send him a text, basically giving them his response through a call cause it's easier. This has definitely caused him slight issues later at the DSO but he doesn't care, he'll do what he wants. I think he's also the type of person that would leave a person on read, go to that person directly and respond then and there, so I would imagine his texts with other people will look like a wall of text with not that many responses from Leon besides an 'Ok', '👍', 'thx'. It's a little funny but also very intune with his character, I'm not saying he's a stereotype for older people, I know people that are very comfortable talking through text and some prefer calls over texts.
So I get that every body who knows of Requiem and its story, is aware that Grace is someone with severe anxiety and PTSD.
But the dialogue exchanges between Sherry and Leon is actually super interesting if you try and pinpoint the fact that the two of them never utter the words "I don't know", not once.
When you notice it, the characters get very interesting.
When Leon first asks Grace if the "someone" who kidnapped her was Gideon, she says she doesn't know, which is a valid and completely normal answer. She doesn't know that the man she meets in a snake skin coat is Victor Gideon, he never discloses his name until after in the care centre.
In this scene Leon is very confrontational, which Grace is not comfortable with. If you start demanding answers from someone who is panicking, they won't respond coherently and "I don't know" becomes a shield.
Of course, this doesn't apply to every case. I say "I don't know" a lot, or at least I used to, and I cut down the frequency of it because people around have pointed out that it sounds like you've "given up" when you say it.
Throughout this scene, we get to see exactly how Leon would eventually figure out how to converse with Grace without causing her to panic. This is shown when Grace and Leon meet at the church, where Leon reassures Grace without pushing her. He carries this sentiment till the end of the game.
Leon is very aware when it comes to dealing with people. Yes he doesn't get out much, yes he's corny and says awkward shit, excuse that and we can assume he had gotten training on how to handle various scenarios, ones that include reassuring civilians caught in the line of fire, escorting (I mean bodyguard duty), and interrogation (there could be more but I'm just naming what I know).
Sherry responds to Leon in a very matter fact way, a very clear contrast to how Grace communicates. It's definitely the product of her training and environment.
Leon asks Sherry a question, Sherry responds with "not yet", which gives the sense that she will find out the answer, she doesn't know the answer, despite also being in a compromised position with the infection. Much like Leon, she responds bluntly and is going to push for answers.
There are so many instances where saying "I don't know" would have been easier, and by design, that sentence is dismissive but Sherry is smart with her choice of words when Leon asks why they were asked to shut down the investigation.
It's shifting the blame in a way, it's not that Sherry doesn't know, that's a given, it's that she's not privy to the reason of why and she communicates that she is barred from even knowing.
I have to point out, neither Leon nor Sherry are confident about their chances of survival. So it's not as though they are simply just calm, collected, confident individuals that do well in stressful situations (man what a cool thing to say in an interview), it's that they embody the meaning of "hope".
I've mentioned it before that Leon, Sherry and Grace all represent a "blind hope", but the way Sherry and Leon handle it, is the very definition of where they stand as survivors of RC. They have to keep moving forward, even if the chances of survival are small, even if there are no more clues, they will hold on to hope it's what keeps them moving forward, keeps them from breaking.
Grace on the other hand represents how hope is paralysing, it stagnates you, makes you regress and wish better for yourself. She's seen every instance of where hope is robbed from her, so she questions it. When Leon shoots Emily, that was it for Grace, Emily represented the hope that forces you to get up, no matter how broken down you are, to keep fighting but as soon as that hope is gone, you only blame yourself for even grasping at it.
In the ARK, when Leon opens up to Grace (just barely, should have made him cry Capcom), Grace can only say that they can't stop Zeno, but that hasn't stopped Leon. In fact, when Zeno himself tells Leon that he can't beat him. Leon goes in; shoot first, ask questions later type of thing.
He is going to test every path, every risky choice to hopefully get to the end and out of the mess.
As soon as Grace says so, he looks dejected.
He wants to give Grace a reason to keep going but he can't, not when he knows he's out of time. To him, he has to think fast, find something, anything to at least get Grace out of here.
He tried again, he already decided depending on her answer whether to keep going with Grace or without her. Of course, we know that after this, he gets up and leaves when she gave him her answer. He is going to destroy Elpis, whatever it was, it was bad news to him because the bad guys want it. When the bad guys want something, you can't expect that they want something good.
We know that Grace, having come this far, isn't just going to give up, she threatened Zeno with her life to make sure Leon was spared, so she tells Leon that she will come with him.
This was the first time in their conversations that she had made a clear decision but Leon is not having it. Let me be clear, he's not mad at her, nor does he find her a nuisance, if he did, he would have rejected her helping him up or even holding him.
He doesn't want her to get hurt again, but this time, Leon didn't take away her hope. Emily ended up being her hope, yes, but Leon always gave her that when they were together; Grace was through with standing still and not searching for something, a way out, answers, the truth, anything. Leon eventually became a constant.
That's what eventually changes with her dialogue in the end as well, when Grace tells Leon that she doesn't know the password, he tells her it's okay (I also have to point out if you listen closely, you can hear him murmur "password?") but she says she has a plan.
Leon believed in Grace the moment she told him that she doesn't want any more regrets, he trusted her judgement when she followed through and said that she had a plan after she said that she didn't know the password.
It's also very telling that you can be positive that Leon and Sherry carry similar cadences when they speak, I could tell she learned from him and would copy his way of speaking as an act of respect towards him.
It makes me miss the fact that we should have gotten more scenes with Sherry, and more dialogue exchanges between her and Leon.
have you guys ever wanted an old man so badly that if you were to get into a problematic age gap relationship with him it would somehow come off like YOU are the predator?

Do you think its called ARK because of Noahs Ark? And that the laboratory contains the cure for the viruses. Because noahs Ark carried all the animals to make sure they would survive the flood (im not a christian but its something like that right? And Ark in requiem carries to cure to the viruses
RE9 Spoilers//
Lmao I'm also not a christian and I make it a point to know as little about that stuff as possible so I had to google it-- to my understanding, he took his wife and a pair of every animal on the ark with him because god was sending a flood to wipe everything out (lol) but there's also a Greek myth about Deucalion who basically did the exact same thing so I would assume since Requiem is rolling with the Greek mythology, it was probably a reference to that version, but there's essentially the same story anyway. And like you said, ARK in the game was the lab in which they were not only doing research into mind control, but creating the ultimate cure so I think the metaphorical flood was the Progenitor strain of viruses that spawned all the evils of RE.
Former Catholic here! I would like to add my own interpretation to this.
So what Capcom did was very on the nose with, naming the area where Elpis is stored "Pandora" and calling the A.I. in the ARK "Noah". It was delibrate and intwined both of the myths together, I read up briefly on who the Goddess, Elpis, was before the game released.
Elpis is the Goddess of Hope, who was in a jar, (dubbed the Great jar/ Pandora's jar) along with a myriad of other spirits. When Pandora had opened the jar that had been given to her by Zeus, every other spirit left, free to roam along with humanity except Elpis, who remained. Some iterations had mentioned that the other spirits were good, that when they left the jar, they left humanity with it. The version I believe Requiem is referring to is the one where the spirits are evil, and when the jar was opened, all the evil spirits had left to torment humanity. Elpis, being the only good spirit, had remained in the jar.
This was seen as resilience and also meant to show that even in the most desperate of events, hope can still shine.
Which was what Elpis ultimately was in Requiem, one last hope, a hope that Spencer never actually told anyone about; I can see why it can also be referred to as a "blind" hope, because no one knew that a cure could be made for the latent T-Virus infection, but Leon, Grace and Sherry still fought with hope in mind, not knowing where it would take them.
For the ARK, it had taken the original story of what happened in the old testament and kind of embedded a different meaning into it.
In the original myth, when God has seen the corruption that had eroded humanity, he had declared that he would wipe the earth clean, to start life all over.
Before that happened, he told Noah, rather, he warned Noah of what he set out to do, promising Noah that he would save him and his family. The reason he warned Noah, and only him, was because Noah was seen as a "righteous" and a "good man", not partaking in the corruption infecting humanity.
God instructs Noah to build an Ark, and take male and female specimens of every species of animals from all over the world, to build life all over.
There are other versions of this myth, not to this detail at least, different from the monotheism of the biblical myths, but I'm going to assume Capcom is referring to the biblical version of Noah's Ark.
I believe the ARK in Requiem is a representation of what remained of Umbrella's last creation (or last skeletons), and the last of Spencer's work. The ARK also existed along with the NEST, we can see that when there was a flashback to one of Emily's predecessor clones, Chloe. Considering that it is quite literally, the last of what Raccoon City had left intact, after a "flood"= the missiles, that bombed and wiped RC, it fits the name, in that it also contained the last of the original legacy of Umbrella.
It takes the opposite meaning to Elpis, instead of being a vessel that contained hope for new life, it contained everything responsible for Humanity's demise. It likely contains the means to infect life on earth as well, so I will assume that the ARK wipes out life on earth, and then rebuild it to take over and control every living being.
That's what I assume anyway.
I also looked up Deukalion (Deucalion) to see the similarities of this myth with Noah's and they are similar, so I will add that as well because there are some things that I thought would be cool to share.
Deukalion's myth can't be told without mentioning Pyrrha, his wife. Deukalion is the son of Prometheus, who is sometimes referred to as a the creator of mortals. Pyrrha is the daughter of Pandora and Epimetheus. So I can see a little connection there, but beyond that, Noah and Deukalion share a similar story; Deukalion was also warned, by his father Prometheus, who told him to build an Ark to survive the flood sent by Zeus. Deukalion and Pyrrha eventually hid in a mountain peak, where they later cast stones, that were essentially stones of Gaia, that repopulated the earth.
But considering that was all, and that Capcom chose to have the A.I. within the ARK be named NOAH, I'm going to assume that they are referencing Noah's Ark.
I thought I'd just let all of you lovely people know that I'm accepting requests and/or any asks, I was thinking about how exactly to open it since I was pondering the idea of how well I would be able to manage it. That being said, my rules for requests have not changed since my pinned post, but I'll be adding a few stuff down:
This is the first and foremost thing that I must get out of the way, I'm accepting asks and requests related to Resident Evil as a whole franchise, this includes Requiem, any content that gives away the plot will be marked as spoilers for Requiem, any game prior to Requiem, will not be marked the same.
Regarding asks:
If you're dropping an ask related to Requiem I'll happily respond, let that be about theories, speculation, or even if you want to just talk about how much you love it, I'll happily oblige and gush with you.
Don't take this as a chance to say things that are completely uncalled for, I don't mind if the question is related to this account and if you want to clarify anything but before you start spewing nonsense, it would be great if you could read through and find out stuff before you start.
Asks related to characters and character head-canons, breakdowns, backstories, and speculation is always accepted!
I won't always respond depending on if I've already answered something or I could also be putting some off to answer for later.
I wasn't sure where to put this, so I'll put it under both, I would be delighted to get your head-canons, so feel free to share them!
Feel free to share the ships you may like, but do not drag me into any ship discourse. I have my own dislike for certain ships, but put the blame on Capcom for that. Do not send me anything about Aeon, I don't care for it, I dislike it, and if you have a problem with it, I couldn't care less.
Regarding requests:
If you have a request, I'll be so happy to answer them! At the moment I won't be accepting anything nsfw because I'm not in the headspace for that.
Please also note that requests will be answered in short points or occasionally, if I express likeness for it, I might give a heads-up and write a drabble or vignette.
The same with head-canons, if you have any, feel free to start sounding off! I'll make an attempt to fully elaborate, give my thoughts or even expand on it.
I do not do ship requests, I am so sorry if you have a ship you like, but I won't do ship requests of any kind.
If you have prompts, or a dialogue you'd think would suit a character, I would be so happy to take a look and see what I can do.
I also accept vague scene settings, this can mean scenarios that you find a character/characters in and I'll try to do what I can with my current skill set.
Finally, don't think too much when it comes down to it, I know reading rules is overwhelming, but don't feel pressured, we live and we learn. I'm not going to crucify anyone for making an attempt, and for correcting me, no one is better or lesser than in my eyes.
That is all, once again, these are just what I lay down so that I can feel comfortable and that way so can you! If you're angry about something, I can understand, I dislike a lot of what's happening around the fandom these days myself, it's been a hazard looking up anything related to RE9, and the words, "ring" and "marriage" have me sighing and immensely irritated as of late.
I thought I would make another additional set of rules because the ones in my pinned post are more like a warning sign, than what I do and what I accept. Hopefully this way, you can navigate things much easier.
There are so many references in RE9 that I must get out the way.
Requiem feels like an amalgamation of all the iconic lines, game mechanics, bosses and mini bosses of the previous games, and I don't just mean the remakes. Not only that, the way it has one for one mirrors with RE2R, is literally sending me into a spiral.
I have to talk about the spore releasing monsters, these are literally my favourite little disgusting creatures ever. Blister Bornes are, in my very humble opinion, the better version of Lepotitsa. If you're having trouble recognising the name, I don't blame you, it's the boob creature in RE6
I hated them, I hated them so much when I played RE6, they were just bullet sponges on legs, and having them turn the normal people around me into zombies was the most annoying, time consuming task I've ever been through. Not only was this fucker a bullet sponge, so were the other infected in the church.
I'm not speaking for other people so this is just what I experienced when I played the game, out of all the enemies, this boob monstrosity was what was preventing me from finishing the other campaigns in the game. I still did it though, not for the love of the game, nope, I loved the characters so I just forced myself to play it.
Now, this beauty? Oh wowee, give me 45 more please (Please don't, just don't, I like that they are limited in number.)
Not only was your first encounter with this diva in a church, it has the same functions as the Lepotitsa, it doesn't screech though, thank goodness. The fact that it was in a church, the same way you encounter the Lepotitsa, feels like a reference, and I'm surprised I don't see people talking about it? It looks cool as fuck, for one, second of all, this version of it, makes you decide how exactly you want to go about this fight.
You can kill off the infected, regular zombies in the church first, then hit the spore sacks on big mama so that the infected don't evolve into Blister heads, or you can fight this asshole, take it down with the rest of the usual mass attendees.
I absolutely adore that they made this type of creature just make sense in the game.
Moving on from this.
I adore the fact that Capcom stuck with the "Itchy, scratchy" parts of the newly infected T-Virus zombies. It just makes sense now, remember how Brad also told Marvin, "I'm sorry."? that's what's happening here, they steered in this direction to make the virus a lot like it's mimicking human behaviour. I mean, all it's doing is say the last thing or doing the last thing that a person did before dying.
We don't see a lot of these characteristics in RC, and that's simply because they've been infected too long. I also pondered the question of how exactly they survived the bomb/missile, but because it's a fictional virus, in a fictional universe, I'll just say the reason is because "videogame". The same thing applies to the giant spider, I've seen people question the existence of the spider and how it got so big, because the ones in RE1 were not huge, let's not forget spider B.O.Ws are a huge part in RE games that were very common as enemies in the games prior to 5 or 6.
So it's strange that people are confused that there are spiders now? I don't see how it's confusing unless Requiem is your very first RE game ever. Not to mention, animals getting bigger in the Resi verse is not new, remember the alligator in the sewers of RE2? Or even the centipedes in RE0. Honestly what would have been so cool as a callback to Outbreak, since Alyssa is a character in Requiem would be the infected zoo animals, the virus didn't spare anything from being infected after all.
I'm going to assume the Spider in Requiem survived on the Zombies in RC, because it gave birth as well, it could have eaten the other animals around the area too.
The fight Leon has with the huge dogs, Garmr; is very reminiscent of the one in RE vendetta, besides the fact that in the movie, it was around live traffic, in Requiem, Leon did not endanger the lives of civilians. This one has to be a reference because as soon as I saw it, it was literally Vendetta but the dogs were fucking massive, my god. Loved this fight sequence as well, it was goofy as fuck.
Okay, if I sat here and explained all the enemies, we'll be here for DAYS, so let's make it quick: Mr. X, I love that he's back, although it's only for a brief amount of time, the fact that it showed up in the RPD, very on the nose Capcom. The lickers, glad to have these beautiful fuckers back too, a lot more manageable this time around from what I've seen, still disgusting and still one of my favourite B.O.Ws in the franchise. Nemesis is very meh, so I'm not gonna comment on it, it's not as intimidating as the one in RE3, the final phase of it at least, but it's there.
There are a lot of references sprinkled around RC, for one, the subway area is the same place you go to as Jill and Carlos, of course it's less eerie, reminds me of the subways in RE6 but again, not as packed and the RC version is about atmosphere more than anything.
I was hoping to see parts of RC you'd see in Outbreak, because again, Alyssa is in the game, one would argue that the RPD was in Outbreak but shush, the RPD is everywhere.
It does feel like they ended Alyssa's story very abruptly but then again, this is a Resi game, abrupt is what they like and to me it made sense. I could see Grace overtaking her work too, she's her mom's kid, observant and quick to act.
I was wondering if the other Survivors of RC were the one's dead but that's not true, but I think a lot of people (or just me) are likely going to wonder if Capcom will bring back the other Survivors of RC? Oh my god, I would kill for a game with Carlos or Billy again, that would make my year.
So let's move on from my very opinionated ramblings to my very opinionated observations.
The chainsaw zombies were the coolest and also the most confusing zombies depending on their setting. I liked the ones in the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Centre (RHCCC), those were fine, how in the world did a chainsaw manage to survive in RC? Don't things rust?? Regardless, still cool, the whole fight with them, made me think of Dr.Salvador and the Bella sisters, if only their hands weren't glued to the chainsaws then we could have skewered them ourselves.
Not to mention the move sets Leon does when wielding the chainsaw is very similar to Salvador and the sisters, but I don't know if that was on purpose, or if that is the only way to hack things with a chainsaw, I wouldn't know since I never held one.
This one just made me laugh. I know for a fact Victor worked in the NEST, if he uses wrist bands with different level access to go to different areas of the RHCCC. He just couldn't let go of it, I'm sure it was convenient, just for him though.
So I'm going to move on to the mirrors and Character stuff, so buckle up, this is another long essay.
This scene, made me feel so many things. For one, when Grace asks Leon, "If you're so sick, then why did you come here?"
It's his face that made me lose my thought process, I don't think we've seen Leon look this hurt since RE2R, even then, the way he looks at her like he's asking her, "How could I not?" But Leon knows that Grace isn't aware, he knows that he had to give it away at some point.
You can see it in his face that he's trying to process the question, trying to find the right words.
He started with how RC was where it all began for him, that when everything happened he couldn't do anything.
His voice breaks, he stammers trying not to give in to his emotions. If you recall, he does the same in RE2R, he tries to say that he wanted to do something, to save someone but he just couldn't.
You know, when Grace keeps saying, "This is all my fault, this really is all my fault." I bet you Leon has said the same things to himself.
He didn't want to say it out loud, what good does it bring you to say that everything was your fault when the people around don't care for your emotional and mental well being, have you seen Krauser?
Rookie Cop Leon S. Kennedy has been telling himself it's all his fault since he left RC. I'm not sure if some are aware of this, those who played the OGRE2 might be, but according to the Original RE2, Leon's motivation to fight against umbrella wasn't because of what umbrella did, hilariously, it was because he lost his "love" to Umbrella (It's Ada but my god was that so funny to read) so that's why he wants revenge. That reason has been retconned, thank goodness for that, it was shallow and does not play well into his cop persona. Yes, Leon is not a cop anymore but he still does whatever he can to save people, that's what he signed up for when he became a cop and even after RC.
I know people who've been in the fandom for years, will prefer the OG games before the remakes, more so with RE4, and I don't blame them, I would prefer it had I played it first. But the OG didn't care for Character consistency and build up. It's corny, campy and unserious. The Remake is not at all the same in that regard, it's dubbed "too serious" in fact. But I think that's necessary, Capcom has started to bring in this consistent build up of characters and it leads up well to who Leon is. I know I have stated previously that there were hints of Leon's character in the OG to be like that of the remake, and I still stand by that, but Capcom had a game to sell in the 2000s, in a time where video games were targeted to men so if they did lean into having their protagonists to be emotional, have trauma and scars, then that wouldn't have made profit. Not with the label they sold.
You could say that it did work for one series, and that was Silent Hill, but I think you should consider that Silent Hill as a series tackles psychological based horror. SH2 is a prime example of that, you have James who is by all counts, a very pathetic man, who is desperate and persistent in his quest for answers. It worked because that's the label it was marketing, unlike the Resident Evil franchise.
So going back, Leon's motivation has since changed from the Original RE2 game, I believe now it's that he wants to make a difference, that he wants to do something, to make things right. I would bet that he felt uncontrollable guilt when he had realised he gave the G-Virus, the very same virus he had seen wreck havoc in RC to a merc who did god knows what with it. It's Survivors Guilt, yes, but that blame is always on you when you go through trauma. I have it as well, I went through a horrible time myself, and all I could do was blame myself, it's hard to look at things objectively when everything falls apart around you and all you felt like you did was nothing, it feels like you let it happen.
I don't think he had ever been told that everything that happened in RC was out of his control, it wasn't something anyone could have predicted, he couldn't have saved everyone, that is just what happens when tragedy hits a population.
So when Grace says, "It's all my fault." I bet you Leon didn't even have the words to say "No", how could he? He probably says the same thing to himself every damn day.
I hate to bring it up, but the "bad ending" encapsulates this entirely, someone online said that it was less of an ending, and more of an "extended death sequence" and I agree. In the ending where you choose to destroy Elpis, Leon will do everything he can to at least make sure Grace gets out of there, and once he knows she's out of the safely, he stalls for time.
The last thing he does is look up to Grace and say, "At least I saved you." Before he was shot by Zeno, he didn't care if he died, for him, the cause isn't just seeking revenge against Umbrella, it's about saving as many lives as he could to make up for what Umbrella has done and to make up for every life lost in RC. I have to add that, in this "ending", Grace leaves after she says, "I wish I could've saved you Leon." This just shows that if neither makes it out, they are going to be stuck in a loop, forever thinking of "what if" scenarios, it's a cycle of guilt that just won't end.
If you explore RC in Requiem, if you have the Deluxe edition of the game, you can see letters from Marvin's daughter, Meryl to Marvin. Can I just say, that was one of the saddest fucking things a game has done recently. To not only have the little girl's letters scattered around RC but the fact that you can find her shoes just strewn around? Leon finds all of these and when he gets to the letters, all he can say is "I'm sorry I was late." He does the same throughout RC, he's apologetic for not being there when all I could think of is that he was just trying to survive, he couldn't have known about the other people but that doesn't matter when you carry such guilt, everything becomes your fault.
I know lots of people have seen the mirrors of Grace and Leon, it's one of the themes of the game to begin with.
But when Leon gets up to go destroy Elpis, Grace wants to come with him, she, just like him, wants to do something right, to make a difference.
You know, when I saw him looking at her, when she said that line, he looked surprised. As though he didn't expect to see himself in Grace.
I mean, it's quite similar to what he said here. At every turn, Grace just resembles who he was and that is a turning point for Leon to make sure she gets out of this mess, alive and well. It also makes the phone call they have, so worthwhile. He needed someone to reach out to, to be able to tell him what he went through wasn't just some nightmare, that he wasn't crazy for seeing what he'd seen, Leon needed that comfort, that's why he's giving that to Grace. To him, Grace is his testament for change, that he is doing something right, and that he can witness it.
He didn't just give that to Grace, but for Emily too, but he just gave Grace the nudge to let her know that she can do it too, that she has made a difference and Emily is proof of that.
The last of my ramblings has to be the dialogues in this game, it's just so good. There are so many call backs, I swear I could get drunk if I did a "drink every time there's a reference." Or "drink every time Leon says a one-liner" horrible drinking game if you're drinking alone.
The line when he kills all the infected when he first gets to RHCCC, and it's "That went well." And it's literally what he says when Ashley runs away when he first meets her, also RE loves their churches huh?
When Zeno beats his ass in PANDORA, yes, that is where Elpis is stored, I know, it's so on the nose. Capcom didn't stop there, guess what their AI in the lab is called, it's NOAH...get it? cause they're in the ARK...(why Capcom?)
When He and Grace get away, Grace asks him, "Are you okay?" He says: "Me?
With a thumbs up. It's so cute, it's like a dad that cracked his back a little too hard and he's making a dumb comment on it so the kids don't worry.
And this line is delivered so much more sweetly compared to when he said in OGRE4 to ashley. That line sounded snarky and was delivered as sarcasm, but this one was a lot more him trying to be reassuring and failing, failing miserably.
I think when Grace gets comfortable enough with him, or even when Emily gets to meet Leon, she will definitely call him corny and audibly sigh when he says a one liner, or at this point, a Dad joke. Leon's one-liner to Dad joke pipeline is a straight line, and it's on a fast track.
Not only is he Girl dad, he's already got a grandkid too, it's so sweet.
I would imagine Sherry, Grace, Ashley and Emily all going out shopping with Leon, they help pick out his new leather jacket and Emily rides his shoulders. Gosh, I'm making myself giggle with that scenario.
These are what I could gather for now, I'll probably make a post on some other stuff related to the game? But that depends on a lot of stuff.
Hello everyone, this is an abrupt announcement but due to recent events and attacks, I will not be available online, I'm going to focus on the safety of my family and hope for no escalation.
I'm sorry, everyone, I'm really worried and scared about my family. I don't want things to escalate and I hope this mess ends soon.
If you are wondering, this is due to recent attacks within the gulf countries.
Thank you for understanding, I'm sorry I can't be light hearted right now.
Hey guys, things have gotten a lot quieter, which I want to hold on to, and I'm regulating my stress and anxiety as best as I can. Keeping in touch with my family has helped a ton.
Also, I want to thank you for the 100+ followers?? That part was an insane thing to wake up to, thank you for that.
I have a couple of things saved up in my drafts, I'll work on them in my spare time, Requiem has been a welcome distraction the past 5 days.
If anything changes, I'll update you all.
Not sure exactly how to end this but, thank you, for the few that wished me and my family well, and for keeping up with what's been going on, it meant the world to me.
