Musician Spotlight: Florence Price

Florence Price was an African-American composer of orchestral, choral, vocal, and chamber music. She was the first African-American woman to be officially recognized as a symphonic composer and to have had one of her compositions played by a professional orchestra.

Honestly @cecilechaminade-official’s Concertino is a beautiful example of technique and flute beauty. 20/10 would recommend

If I remember correctly, Stravinsky was actually politically indifferent, but he was a bystander to fascism which, honestly, is almost as bad as fascism itself. Mussolini liked his music so he liked Mussolini, and Hitler didn’t like his music so he didn’t like Hitler.

There’s a difference between supporting someone’s creative output and their ideologies, too. If we REALLY want to talk down fascist composers, we should team up against Wagner.
