Safety Information for Our Guests, 2020:
We follow American Hotel and Lodging Association Safe Stay Guidelines, enhanced industry-wide hotel standards. For the 2020 season, we have added: Expedited check-in with reduced contact and Plexiglas shield protection. All common areas sanitized regularly and guest room surfaces cleaned with sanitizing products during each cleaning. Rooms have been prepared to eliminate all unnecessary decorative items. We encourage use of masks and social distancing. Signage is in place regarding social distancing and encouraging use of masks in common indoor areas.
Swimming pool will be open - following healthy guidelines for reduced capacity. Breakfast is available to go, sack-lunch style, as in-person breakfast service and buffet service options are not allowed.
The property features 4 buildings on 9 acres with ample outdoor seating areas, and most guest rooms have their own outdoor entrances. Guest rooms do not share heating / cooling ducts with other rooms - all vent individually to outdoors.
More picnic tables have been added this season to accommodate guests who would like to enjoy takeout meals outdoors.

Original Art at the Lodge
Adding to your experience at Cedar Hill Lodge, we are bringing in new goodies to our Gift Shop: Original wax encaustic and mixed media art pieces, made in St. Ignace for Cedar Hill Lodge.
Guests choose the Lodge for more than just a place to stay - they love a distinctive, memorable experience! Add a new dimension to your visit by viewing the collection, and you might even choose a piece to take home.
Encaustic painting uses melted beeswax resin, oil pigments, various tools for heating and manipulating the melted wax, and can incorporate photos, image transfers, and papers. We use our own original photos of local favorite places like the Mackinac Bridge, Tahquamenon Falls, and Straits of Mackinac to create a unique piece of art. Some feature found relics, such as old keys and hardware. Take a look!

Tahquamenon Falls - the second largest waterfall east of the Mississippi - second only to Niagara Falls. It features two sets of spectacular falls on the Tahquamenon River, hiking trails and pathways. Don't forget to stop in at the yummy brewery right on site! About one hour's drive from Cedar Hill Lodge in St. Ignace.

Snowmobiling and the U.P. Pond Hockey Championships
Every February brings something extra special to St. Ignace – the U.P. Pond Hockey Championships – and what a great time it is! You won’t see this anywhere else: Moran Bay on Lake Huron is home to this tournament featuring 200 amateur hockey teams from all over the United States, Canada, and the world, for a weekend of open-air hockey action on wild ice, a heated beer tent, and talented local bands entertaining the crowd. The backdrop for the hockey action is scenic downtown St. Ignace on one side and Mackinac Island on the other – wow! Ice cold beer on tap is flowing, provided by event sponsor LaBatt Blue. Free shuttles transport players and fans to restaurants, the casino, and other venues all over town.
If you haven’t visited St. Ignace in the winter, you’re missing out on a wild winter wonderland of adventures: We have hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails connecting the entire Upper Peninsula, the February Pond Hockey Tournament, and the Doc Holle Silver Mountain tubing hill offering thrills on the giant hill. Bring your fat tire bike, or your cross country skis! Or make us your home base for a spectacular winter hike at Tahquamenon Falls, just a short drive north, or a day of exploring the ice caves at Eben Junction.

Two Museums Downtown St. Ignace
St. Ignace’s rich history of Native American settlement, the 1700s fur trade, and its history as a hub of railroad and maritime transportation at the Straits of Mackinac can be seen in two downtown museums, featuring an impressive collection of local artifacts and exhibits. Special performances, workshops in Native American crafts, walking tours, and tribal powwows take place here! Almost all are free of charge.
Museum of Ojibwa Culture
Housed in a historic church building (more than 180 years old) and is within a park that marks the grave of 1600s explorer Father Jacques Marquette. This is a state and national historic landmark. Nearby is the site of a long-ago Native American village that has been the site of archaeological study. Across State Street from the Lake Huron shore at Kiwanis Beach, downtown.
Fort de Buade Museum
Houses a rich collection of historical artifacts from the fur trade era and early St. Ignace. It is named after an early French fort established at St. Ignace. The exact location of this fort has been obscured by time and still remains unknown. The museum collection named after Fort de Buade is housed downtown on State Street.

“The Big Tree”
A towering pine tree went down in a windstorm on the day before Christmas. It had stood marking one corner of the lawn for many years, and it was a sad surprise to find it sprawled across the empty parking lot after a night of terrific wind that downed many trees around town and tore signs from their posts. Branches and pine cones were strewn everywhere. Friends and neighbors, seeing a potential big pile of firewood, offered to take the whole mess off our hands by cutting it up into logs and hauling it away. But it seemed a shame to part company with the old giant. So we spent some wintry afternoons cutting the trunk into thin slices with a chainsaw, selecting large ones near the base and smaller ones from branches and treetop. We brought them all inside the Breakfast Room, putting those fragrant, woodsy slices together to make a unique wall treatment. So the old tree is still a part of life at Cedar Hill Lodge.
