I wanted to take a little time to introduce myself properly here - my name is Carolyn, and I love handmaking things.

I usually knit and crochet, but I also sew, cross stitch, make jewellery, and many other crafts.

I used to have an etsy page but the changes they have made in the last couple of years made me want to leave, which I did! So now my crafts are just for me and my loved ones.

Here's the finished cardigan on my human form, it's comfy but I think I miscalculated the width I'd need and it's a bit baggy. But that's good for air flow, so she's staying as she is! If it gets to a point where it's way too big, I'll just frog it and start again!

Literally just finished this cardigan, the second of my "summer cardis". It's a little thicker and heavier than I had hoped it would be, but it's still less toasty than my winter cardigans, so I am happy with it.

I am working on another cardigan which is much lighter, and might even be too light but I will keep working on it and see how it turns out!

The stash busting is on hold while I make my Halloween costume (pictured) and a Christmas present for my father in law (not pictured)

My Halloween costume this year is a butterfly - I'm making wings and antennae, and might modify a party blower to use as a probuscus. I've not 100% decided on how I'm going to construct the wings, but I have a couple of ideas that I'll try out once I've made the pieces of the wings

This cardigan is a mix of crochet and knitting.

The cardigan itself is knit and is a top-down raglan done all in one piece with no seaming.

The bows are crochet, made of a long rectangle, folded and held together with a small rectangle, and then sewn on to keep their shape.

I nearly gave up on this one because I had tried a different pattern at first, and it did not go well. The pattern had separate pieces for the back, two fronts, and arms, which then had to be sewn together, and then an afterthought button band would be added. I've not tried making a jumper or cardigan like that before (because I really don't like sewing knit/crochet things together), but I thought I'd give it a go.

I made the fronts, back, and arms, and when I came to sew them together, they didn't fit.

I had a wobble, decided I'd not bother with that pattern, and got in touch with the person who'd asked me to make it to see if they wanted me to try again or if it would take too long to get to them, but they were happy to wait, and I found the pattern I used for this.

I am glad it's done, and I now know I should have stuck to how I like constructing garments, as it is much more enjoyable than fighting my way through something I don't like! Because I make things for enjoyment rather than to make money, there's no point in making something if I don't enjoy the process!

I'm making the most of being able to knit before it gets too hot! I just have half of the arm to do, and the cardigan will be finished, so I hope I can get this done before I feel too hot. I will then need to get the embellishments made, but with the base cardigan done, the hardest part is complete!

Hot off the hook this afternoon - granny square blanket! This is going to a colleague at the day job.

I used a 7mm hook and James C Brett Marble Chunky yarn MC117.

I have this handbag that I got many years ago. It was themed for a franchise I no longer have anything to do with, so I removed the embroidery/metal hardwear, but that has left marks where they used to be.

I want to do something crafty to cover this up, but I can't think of what to do - any ideas, folks??

Today I made: this!

Usually, this would be utilised for housing plastic shopping bags, but I have a different idea in mind - underpants!

This will hang on the back of my door, and each morning, I'll grab a pair out of the bottom of the tube.

It has a drawstring at the top and elastic at the bottom and was a bit finicky, but it's not meant to be pretty, just functional

Now that the happy couple have opened their gift, I can share this massive sunflower blanket I crocheted as a wedding gift.

I love how it's come out!

Hot off the hook: Crochet cross body bag.

Bag measures 24cm wide and 26cm long, strap is adjustable between 85cm and 150cm.

I've started working on a cross body bag (which will be available for purchase once finished)

I love the material I chose for the lining, I got a load of sea-themed material a while ago with the intention of using it for lining bags.

I've not decided what the closure will be on the bag yet, but as I have an abundance of buttons at the moment, I think it will include a button or two - any suggestions welcome!

My shortie cardigan is finished. It took a while because I made half of it and then changed my mind on how I wanted the colours to work.

It's made from 3 different colourways, if you look closely you can see 2 rows of each one. Originally, I had wanted to do half in one colour and half in another, but I didn't have enough yarn to do that, so I had to throw the 3rd one in.

I am very happy with the result, and it hangs really nicely - it will get its debut wear tomorrow, so I'll see how it fares for longer than a try-on!
