a question for fellow writers + possibly seeking advice

in longer stories where there’s a bigger plot, i have little to no issues writing scenes with dialogue and physical cues.

but as soon as i write shorter stories where the scenes with the characters themselves carry the story along more than the narrative/storytelling paragraphs, i feel, like, such a pressure to get it perfect bc it’s my least favourite part of writing but i feel like the thing readers pay attention to most?

like, how do you get past feeling like you’re using the same words over and over and the same mannerisms and the same little gestures or whatever, just… over and over again?

i overthink it so bad and ends up taking me ten times as long to write it because it just feels so flat and repetitive 🙃

or maybe it’s just me lol

appreciate it anon, surely just a struggle phase, but it’s not like other writers block phases ig bc it feels a bit… deeper than that. like when i say i’ve lost 90% of my normal brain function to adhd fatigue and overload in the last couple months, i mean it. and it’s the most infuriating and upsetting and frustrating thing ive ever experienced bc i just want to write but it aint happening for me now and it is genuinely really bothering me lol.

don’t really feel like it’s burnout tbh, just like what i said there ^ it’s rly strange and unlike anything ive experienced and i suppose im having trouble understanding it

i’ve been trying to write this idea i’ve had for five days and i genuinely feel repulsed by my own writing

like i’ve felt that my creativity has dulled severely in the past few weeks, just as i’ve been struggling more than ever with adhd fatigue and burnout and stuff, but wowowowow i cannot express how flat and boring and lifeless this current wip feels and it’s actually getting to me so bad bc all i want to do is write but it seriously feels like i’ve completely lost all sense of any writing ability i had

Are you still planning on doing your situationship fic?

nothing set in stone yet, just taking it easy w it for now and if any ideas come to me i jot them down but again nothing properly organised

however when i finish uni for summer and i have a good chunk of time off i think i will try and do it

no promises though, i may wimp out bc it’s multi-chapter (not my strong suit) and very complex and just quite daunting to me loool

am gonna give it a try overall, we’ll see how it goes

soooo i was meant to write a fic this afternoon but i got distracted by something much better instead…

i’ve just reader the fics from the Reverie universe and i love it and i feel very seen through as there’s not really any autistic!readers out there, i was wondering if you’re gonna do any more of autistic, reader, if not completely ok and hope you’re having a nice day/evening wherever you are ☺️

you know, i first set out writing those fics as more of a curiosity than anything, but they turned out to be so much more for me! i wrote them when i wasn’t very accepting of myself at all, and without realising, i was changing the narrative i’d seen online of so much negativity towards autism into something more positive for myself. writing traits i didn’t like or experiences i hated that i struggled with ended up being an incredibly cathartic and life changing thing for me.

i’m very glad i’m not in that place anymore, and strangely as a result i feel less of a personal need to write them. i have a few ideas and have had some for months but it’s just not as strong anymore! and maybe because subconsciously, as do many writers anyway i’ve learnt, when writing with such a blank character like ‘reader’ is in most stories you often naturally put your own characteristics into the storys anyway which i realise is what i’ve perhaps done more of the last year or so. i’ve been trying to writer reader naturally rather than forcing the thought of “what would a ‘normal’ person do in this situation” if that makes any sense at all

anyway, tl;dr is that i’ll always leave the door open to return to that storyline, but i just can’t make any promises for it! i hope so one day though :)

maybe i’m the friend that’s too woke but people online constantly asking to see more of alexia’s house and wanting her to post more of it is probably exactly why she posts less and less about her personal life 😭

like please, you don’t need to know everything about this woman, at least let her have her home to herself of all things

i got a good bunch yeah however i also came up w one on my own last night that i desperately want to write later when i finish work and try to get out tonight

it’ll be bittersweet af writing it and maybe if i get it right emotional to read so sorry in advance for when it comes out (either today or tomorrow) lol
