I do agree with the theory of Akito being the forced God of the zodiac and Tohru being the chosen God. To my knowledge it’s never explained why only the Soma family is able to be cursed, so why can’t it be possible for Tohru to be the chosen God while Akito being the forced God?
Anyways. During this current rewatch, I just watched the episode where Yuki admits that he sees Tohru more as a mother and it gave me a thought…
We all know about the deal Akito made with Kyo for his freedom. If Kyo can defeat Yuki at anything just once he’ll be free. Well, while Yuki is talking about how he doesn’t want a romantic relationship I got the feeling that while this might be true how he’s feeling for Tohru, maybe it is also because he lost to Kyo when it comes to who she fell in love with. Making it so that he did win in his bet with Akito. We also know that those with the zodiac spirits can not go against Akito, it’s a part of the soft magic in the story. They can’t. But what if when Akito made that deal, it bound her to the conditions as well. So while Akito and Kyo weren’t necessarily aware of it, the force that rules them did know.
The curse might have started breaking before the events of the story taking place. However, due to how far spread out the breaking was happening there was no guarantee that it would have broken within their lifetime, or in time to keep Kyo from being locked up. Now I know that they talk about all the zodiac being born to be together for the final banquet. But what if Kyo didn’t win Tohru’s love? What if it was a test? What if that wasn’t the first one? And the cat won this time.
Tohru for sure speed things up in my opinion with how she shared her unconditional love with all these damaged and tormented souls. And while it may never be proven one way or another, she fits the role of chosen God so well. The parallel between her Akito are set up so beautifully, I feel it like would just add to how they were both opposing forces.

Instead of dealing with any of my current problems I’m rewatching Fruits Basket, because you know, I’m not suffering enough without the added emotional damage.
1. go out in nature more. every studio ghibli film has some aspect of nature intertwined with the storyline. sometimes its hard to get the energy to go outside, but just going out on your deck or opening the window in your room or taking a walk around the block is enough. if you feel like it, go for a hike! go into the woods and look at every flower, and every tree. look at the mushrooms and streams and notice the beauty of them. look at nature like you’ve never seen it before. wake up at 4 and watch the sunset. put plants around your room. realize how beautiful the world is around you. appreciate it.
2. get a hobby! this step is certainly easier said than done, but its so worth it. struggling with mental illness makes it especially hard to get a hobby, but its very important that you don’t spend the majority of your time on social media. Start small. If you want to start drawing get a coloring book and fill in a picture with beautiful markers! If you want to write find a random prompt online, give yourself 30 minutes and see what you can come up with. Want to try baking? Start with an easy recipe, like chocolate chip cookies, and share them with your family or friends, or just yourself! Try out a bunch of hobbies, and see what you like best. Maybe you like making jewelry or writing poems or creating digital collages or making video edits or decorating your room or riding a bike or sewing or reading. The possibilities are endless, and getting a hobby you enjoy is very important, and fun.
3. start appreciating small things and noticing details. I don’t know how to explain this step, but in studio Ghibli films, small things always stick out. There are beautiful tiny details that make the story so much more magnificent. small details make the studio Ghibli films what they are. maybe on your way to school/work the sky was a really pretty color. Or the tea you made in the morning was perfectly steeped. appreciate small details of life that you don’t normally notice.
4. appreciate food. Pay attention to your food. If you can, try and make/bake your own food! But if you can’t, just be mindful of your food. Try not to eat while you’re on your phone. Dedicate times to just eating. Appreciating the food in front of you. Make yourself the ponyo drink with milk and honey, or ponyo ramen! Make yourself your own blend of tea like the Baron!
5. be kind and help others. Being kind doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, it can be smiling and waving at a baby in a café, or helping your mom finish the dishes, or paying for a friend’s coffee. Small gestures not only put good out into the world, but they also make you feel better. When you can, help others. Try volunteering at an animal shelter, or babysit for your aunt without charging her, or just listen to your friend when they’re going through something and be there for them. In every Ghibli film, the main character is always helping others, and being kind. Try to be like kiki, when she returned the pacifier to the mother who forgot it, or like chizuru from the cat returns, who risks her life to save a cat. Kindness comes in all shapes and forms, so just try your best to do what you can!
6. be your most authentic self. Stay true to who you are. dress how you’d like. Cut your hair like you’ve always wanted to. Stay confident and true to yourself. We all feel insecure sometimes, but we need to remind ourselves that we are great. Don’t try and force yourself to be someone you aren’t. Kiki felt insecure in her abilities as a witch, but she stayed true to herself, and believed in herself, and it paid off. Love and appreciate yourself, just the way you are.
7. (not really a tip but a fun suggestion) start collecting something! This is just an extra step that I wanted to include because I think its nice. But start a collection of things that interest you. It could be anything! Candles, stamps, teacups, antique figurines, 19th century photos, lip balms, books, key chains, flowers, hats. The choices are endless.
Will not really kiss you in front of his friends (mainly cause it makes him go all soft) but he will give you light kisses on the back of your neck if you’re sat in his lap
If you pepper his face with kisses he’ll get all >:( but inside he’s :,)

When you make out with him he’ll nip at your bottom lip or neck

He’s not use to any form of affection at the beginning of your relationship
But he is bold enough to randomly lean in and kiss you

In class? Doesn’t matter. In front of his family? Will kiss you when ever he likes
The only time he won’t give into his want to kiss you is during training
Not a big fan of french kissing but adores long pecks
His kisses tend to be quite soft but if he’s stressed or angry they tend to be firmer

Too scared to even kiss you in the first place
He’ll only kiss you when you’re both alone or when there’s only Mirio around

He nearly fainted the first time you french kissed
When he’s feeling bolder and frustrated, he drag you someplace private to kiss you (and might start making out with you if he feels like it)
Loves it when you play with his hair while you kiss him
Becomes more needy over time and will whine if you don’t kiss him
Shinso:
Loves to give you traditional lip kisses
When he’s wearing his binding cloth/scarf, he’ll wrap it around you and drag you to him so he can kiss you and make you flustered
He’s very easy to wind up and will end up nipping you at some point
He finds it adorable when you kiss his cheek

Sleepy and somewhat sloppy kisses
He loves it when you wake him up from a nap with kisses
Aizawa:
Sleepy kisses are this mans speciality
He doesn’t have much energy after a long day to give you multiple kisses so he’ll just give you one or two really long kisses
When he kisses you with force his stubble can sometimes hurt a bit
Neck kisses make him melt
Likes to hold you close when you kiss
Does the same thing as Shinso with his binding cloth/scarf
If you give him a light kiss on his sternum in bed before going to sleep or while cuddling he’ll blush
Since he doesn’t have much free time to be able to kiss you properly he’ll shower you with them when he can
It takes some time for him to realise that he doesn’t need to have a death grip or squeeze on you to fully cuddle
Cuddling is something very intimate for him
It’s the only time he might fully open up about his feelings and issues
If you fall asleep while cuddling he’ll make sure he doesn’t move an inch to ensure that you sleep
The amount of time his friends have messed with him because you were asleep on top of him is uncountable

Overall, he’s a very intimate cuddle that sometimes squeezes too much

At first he doesn’t know what to do
He either goes all floppy like a rag doll or as stiff as a plank, no in between
But once he gets the hang of it and get’s more comfortable with physical affection
He’s gonna want to always cuddle you
I mean he’s touch starved and he knows he can be cold and a bit dumb with words so he decided to use actions more
On the bus? He’ll wrap an arm around you, hold your hand and rest against you to sneak in a cuddly nap. You’re both on lunch break? Make you sit on his lap so he can wrap his arms around you and rest his head on your shoulder. Finished class and homework? He’ll drag you to your room or his for a cuddle session and nap.
“Shoto we’re literally in a shop right now stop cuddling.”
“But the line is taking so long and I don’t want to wait.”
“People are looking at us, get off or I won’t let you touch me for two days.”
“Okay.”
During movie night with the Dekusquad, he’ll make sure to share a blanket with you and warm you up with his quirk if you get cold
In conclusion, he’s very awkward at the beginning but once he gets use to it, he’s a giant cuddle bug

After a day of patrol the only thing he wants to do is hold you close and sleep
He likes to lay his head on your chest to hear your heartbeat and wrap an arm around you to pull you closer
He’ll talk to you about butterflies or random stuff while cuddling but he always feels bad because he thinks he’s talking to much

If you get him sleepy he’ll let you cuddle him

So most of the you’ll rest on his chest while he works on his laptop or reads a book
He does find that he sleeps better if he has an arm around you
Overtime he finds himself enjoy cuddling more and more especially as your relationship gets more intimate

He won’t squeeze you unless asked and is very gentle
If he’s having a bad day he’ll rest against you and hold you close

King of sleepy cuddles
He doesn’t get the chance to be able to relax and cuddle with you so when he can he will take full advantage of it
It sort of proof that you are safe and sound and that you aren’t in danger
He’ll spoon you while muttering sweet nonsense into the back of your neck
Cuddle time means nap time 99% of the time
Cuddling is something intimate to him and he use it as a way of showering you with kisses and affection
Won’t cuddle you in front of his friends/coworkers cause they’re loud and will make remarks and he’s too tired for that
You were once discreetly cuddling in the teachers lounge after you dropped off had lunch together and Hizashi walked in and you though Aizawa was gonna kill him
“Hey hey you two love birds!”
“Hizashi I swear if you don’t shut up.”
“Hope you aren’t doing anything inappropriate in that sleeping bag. Although it wouldn’t be anything I’ve never seen before.”

He likes it when you play with his hairs when cuddling
Plus it helps untangle some of the knots he doesn’t have time to get out during the week
In general, he doesn’t get to cuddle you often but when he can he definitely will and he uses it as a way to show you his love

It had been a year now, to the day, when Lucy was left at the tower to be forgotten. Her father threw her away when he couldn’t marry her off due to her stubborn and mouthy personality, now she had a new family that she wouldn’t trade for the world. At first the two lovers didn’t leave the cave, but then Lucy wanted to meet all of Natsu’s friends. He was reluctant at first, not wanting to share her attention but quickly changed his mind when he came to the conclusion that he would get the chance to show off such a high quality mate he had found.
So Lucy came to meet everyone.
More of Natsu’s cousins, Wendy, Sting, and Rouge, all dragons of different elements and abilities. Wendy being the first and only female dragon Lucy meet, a sweet young girl that just left her mother’s cave just last year. The light dragon Sting had a mate that intrigued Lucy as she was some sort of celestial being that used magic similar to her own.
The ice spirit, Grey, Natsu refused to acknowledge as a friend and his water nymph wife, Juvia.
A red-haired warrior fae that was often referred to as ‘Queen’ and the only one that seemed to be able to make the group of rowdy boys behave with just a glance. The fierce and feared fairy queen scared Lucy at first, but not for long for the human girl quickly discovered that the queen loved sweets and cute things. Someone had to keep such a rowdy group of trouble makers in line after all. Titania Erza’s partner also held a connection to the stars just as Lucy, only his connection being a bit more literal as he was a fallen star that landed after he fell in love with Erza and gave up his eternal life to be with her.
The Strauss siblings were something extremely exciting to Lucy as she meet the family of shape-shifting changelings. The oldest, Mirajane, being the same age as Erza and possessing the power to change into and channel the power of different types of demons. Elfman, the middle child, utilizing the powers of beast. And the youngest, Lisanna, who could use the abilities of animals. Mira seemed to be the only one in the group of friends that could stand toe to toe with Erza, the two once rivals and now close friends. Elfman obsessed with being as macho and manly as he could while never looking down on women. And Lisanna, a sweet girl that was once in a romantic puppy love relationship with Natsu when they were children. Lucy and Lisanna quickly bonded as they had much more in common than the fire dragon, the two often teaming up and teasing Natsu together.
Lucy’s family grew bigger as she meet everyone, she finally had a home to call her own. On the anniversary of her abandonment Lucy and Natsu went to the tower to bring over her books and notes that she left behind. The dragon was quickly put to work with the task of flying to books back to the library in the cave that Lucy stacked up for him, he wanted to make it all in one trip, but Lucy refused as she didn’t want to run the risk of some falling or them getting damaged.
It was while Natsu was flying his latest stack into his cave that they showed up for her. Lucy didn’t notice when door to the tower opened, or when steps climbed the stairs. When she heard footsteps behind her, she gathered another stack and prepared to hand them to her grumpy husband. The books and papers scattered, her magic sparked to life on her skin, and she fell. It had been so long since she last saw him, she assumed that he had given up. She was wrong, he was preparing, and he did not come alone.
They left swiftly; they didn’t see either dragons from his last visit to rescue his fair princess. Dan wanted the chance to prove himself in battle, confidence in his abilities to take on them both making him wish they would show up as they rode away with an unconscious princess.
Eyes fluttering open Lucy struggled to focus her sights on anything around her for a moment, her head felt so full and groggy. Sitting up with a small groan Lucy rubbed her head while her eyes finally focused and she could take in her surroundings. It was such an immaculate room, but one she had never seen before so she knew she wasn’t back at her father’s castle. Getting up she walked to the window, she didn’t recognize anything, the mountains were different too.
Just how far had she been taken? Panicking she pushed the window open and scanned the stars, for the first time in months they were silent to her, her magic was gone somehow. Gasping she cried out in frustration as she pulled at a silver metal collar that refused to budge. Even without hearing the stars whisper to her, she knew how to read them to at least get an idea of where she was. She was in a kingdom much further south than her family.
“Happy!” Lucy cried out, the little kitten was with her when she was taken. Ripping at the blankets on the bed she searched for him, tearing the room apart to look in any place the Exceed could fit into.
“Calm yourself princess.” Dan’s voice boomed, he entered the room gleefully his arrogance radiating off of him making Lucy feel sick.
“What did you do to Happy?” Lucy demanded dropping the drawer she had pulled out of the dresser.
“Apologizes fair maiden, I don’t know what you’re referring to.” The prince sang as he approached her as if they were star crossed lovers. Lucy stepped away, trying to summon her magic only to be meet with nothing.
“The blue kitten.” She wanted her voice to come out strong and angry, but her lip began to waver and tremble. It had been so long since she felt so powerless, so weak, and her imagination just would not shut up about possibilities of Happy’s fate.
“Oh, you mean the flying cat?” Dan laughed, Lucy held her hands close to her chest, heart pounding, tears already beginning to burn at her eyes. “The thing attacked us when during your rescue, it did follow us for a bit before it turned around and flew off into the woods.” Letting out a sigh of relief, Lucy jumped back again when Dan attempted to grab a hold of her. “Don’t fear princess, you’re safe now.”
“I was safe before you took me.” Lucy screamed back.
“You should get some rest; you’ll need it for the wedding.” Dan went on ignoring anything and everything else Lucy had to say. “Your father should be arriving in the morning, he is in a bit of a rush to make this official and unite the kingdoms. No matter, the sooner we can arrive to your happy ending the better.” Dan left the room with a kiss to her cheek that Lucy was too stunned to register. Collapsing on the floor Lucy’s eyes staired at the air, her tears flowing freely down her cheeks.
“You look so beautiful when you cry.” She knew that voice, it had been a year since she saw him last but she would never forget the man that groped her before casting the spell that kept her imprisoned for so long.
“I won’t marry him.” Lucy growled out.
“You’re quite wrong, Princess Lucy.” The man sneered as he walked into the room, closing the door behind him. Quickly crossing the room with long steps, he kneeled before her, taking her jaw into his painful grip and forcing her to look into his black eyes. “You will be marrying me.”
“But you’re the wizard my father employed to cast the spell.” Lucy argued trying to pull her face from his grip. He released her face and gripped onto her wrist instead, pushing her back until he crouched above her on the floor. Struggling under him was pointless, but she didn’t stop trying.
“I am the Underworld King, Mard Geer and I will have all that I desire very soon.” He growled lowly his lips inches from her own, pressing them onto hers she squealed in frustration. “Bitch.” The king hissed as he pulled away, his bottom lip bleeding from her bite.
“I’m already married.” She spat out continuing to pull at his deathly tight grip.
“Yes, to my master.” Lucy froze. “Don’t you know, Natsu is only half dragon? With you I have the key to awaken him to his demon side once again. He forgot himself when he was taken in by that fire dragon, however, with your blood I shall see him again.” Mard Geer laughed wildly above her, sneering at her face as she came to the realization. The underworld king, Mard Geer, and his kingdom of Tartaros were world famous as the only kingdom of demons with terrifying amounts of power. All of them serving a single demon with god-like powers, one they called master.
“Natsu is END?” Lucy could not breathe, could not move, she wasn’t even sure if her heart was still beating. She lay under Mard Geer as he shook with his wild laughter, the only sound she could hear.
