types of students: times of day

2am: neon lights, big dreams, phone notifications on, life plans in a journal, random burst of productivity, quiet unless with friends, poetry, working hard for something and achieving it

6am: studying with friends, pastel aesthetic, empty coffee shops, plant pots, expensive highlighters, bullet journaling, english class, finishing assignments on time, croissants

9am: motivational speeches, coffee supply that could last a year, full face of make-up, political science, perfectionism, trying your very best at everything, studying all days, hard work, ap classes

1pm: drinking tea, healthy snacks, study group, procrastination, scrolling studyblr, cute pajamas, easy a’s, philosophical conversations, getting distracted, lots of motivation, a bit lost, undecided major

3pm: after-school activities, one specific dream college, appreciating the aesthetic, reaching your goals, student council president, becoming friends with teachers, smiling in the hardest of times, studyspo pictures

7pm: messy handwriting, doodles on the paper, always looking your best, bold lipstick, scattered ideas, dark skies, tumblr in class, always the first to apologize after an argument, sweet voice, good heart

12pm: physical textbooks, libraries, campus marble walls, slow burn romance, reminiscing of what could have been, cries over bad grades, old soul, vintage

MUJI/STATIONERY GIVEAWAY ~ MULTIPLE WINNERS

Hey guys, it’s been a while. I’m in my second semester of college now, realizing that my school stationery days are coming closer and closer to the end.

Everyone has their different tactics for notetaking, and although I have been an absolute stationery fiend since I was a kid, I noticed I prefer taking notes in class with just pen and paper, no real fancy sticky notes, index cards, tabs, or washi tape. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When I was a sophomore in High School, a friend and I would go into NYC often during the summer (we live 15 miles outside the city) and literally RAID the muji stores STUFFING OUR SHOPPING BAGS WITH STATIONERY AND OTHER SUPPLIES. We would walk all the way from the financial district and hit up EVERY muji store until 42nd street. (That’s over 50 New York blocks WALKING because him and I were too shy to flag down a taxi—- and at this time there were only 4 mujis in our area, now there are 6.)

So I have, like, 30 muji pens, 15 notebooks, maybe 30 altogether if you count the various sizes, TONS of little sticky notes (like the infamous cat sticky notes that muji carries) sticky tabs, special letter writing stationery, all sorts of stuff!!

And over the years I’ve also had the opportunity to shop at various Japanese and Korean markets and stores that carry ENDLESS supplies of kawaii themed stationery.

I don’t need this stuff in my life anymore and for the past 3 years it’s all been stowed away nicely and untouched as desk accessories.

I would like to hand down these items to MULTIPLE lucky winners of a giveaway I had in mind.

Because I have SO MUCH muji stationery and other kawaii stationery, the giveaway prizes would be randomized but equally divided as much as possible. And based on the popularity of products (like the popular pens and notebooks) I would make sure each winner gets at least one or two of those “special items”.

^^^ I know that this is a really ugly pic but I just spent some time hauling out the HUGE load of unused (or very lightly used) stationery that is just laying around my house. Everything is in super good if not perfect condition, and anything that has writing in it will NOT be included in the giveaway. (Obviously)

How to Maintain your Motivation

1. Set realistic and achievable goals. These should be something that appeal to you as it’s hard to go after another person’s goals.

2. Think of meaningful ways to reward your progress.

3. Expect to have set-backs and encounter obstacles. When that happens, focus your mind and renew your determination. Refuse to give up.

4. Decide to remain a positive thinker. Refuse to ever stop believing in yourself. When you feel discouraged, decide that you’ll fight on.

5. Share your goals with others, and seek encouragement when you’re finding it hard to keep going on your own.

6. Practice saying no to other options and distractions that may seem appealing – but distract you from your goal.

7. Post inspirational quotes in places you can see to encourage you to work to achieve your goal.

8. Practice self care so you don’t burn out. You need to pace yourself if you are going to reach your goal.

WHY HAVE I NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE?

During syllabus week, I entered every due date (and self-assigned reading) into an excel sheet. It has alleviated so much stress, I feel more organized, and I’ve been keeping up with all of my readings! It also makes everything seem more manageable - I have all the due dates lined up to finals week. I don’t know how I ever survived without this

Changed some things in my room and I really love my current desk situation 💛 I‘m feeling very productive currently and I had my last sociology lecture yesterday. I‘m so glad it‘s over because it was my least favorite subject ever :/ today is the last day of uni this semester :’)

as some of you may know, i struggle with severe depression and had been hospitalized a few times, which really affects me in my studies, but even though i can’t give my best i try to keep on track and collected my favourite tips which can hopefully help you!

1. organisation

in my experience organisation is super important, having planned your tasks makes it way easier to get yourself started to actually study. so planning your tasks can be incredibly helpful. i recommend to buy a planner, i used to love bullet journaling (i still do) but i noticed that, at some point i wouldn’t have the energy to prepare spreads which lead to me being completely unorganized, so for me having a prewritten planner helped me scheduling my tasks with less effort and procrastinating, which is important. also break down your tasks, don’t expect that you can manage to an massive amount of work in a sitting.

2. study for short periods and make breaks

this is super important because, for me personally, my concentration fades away very fast and i can’t focus and the topics, so i study for 20 minutes and make 5-10 minute breaks to help me clear my mind and let my mind relax. don’t forget that it’s an illness, which makes it actually harder for your brain

3. make summary sheets and hang them on the walls

this helps me memorizing facts, vocabluary or formlas way easier by being exposed to them, all the time. it costs little effort to read them and can make a great difference

4. self care & therapy

i know you probably read this everywhere on tumblr but taking care of yourself i essentially important, do small steps like drinking a glass of water every now and then, shower, try to have an organised desk or open your window. these are small steps but can help your mood to lighten a bit and your brain to be more focused. also, make sure you have resources, a therapist or a school counselour or message me if you need someone to talk to. try getting the help you need and deserve.

5. know when it is too much & forgive yourself

sometimes it is all too much for handle and this is okay. you are not a machine, you are an human being, who had to deal with hard things at the moment, and the fact that you are here and trying your best is a huge achievement. sometimes there a a few bad days, weeks and even months where you have to decide that you need to take a break of school and focus on healing. i know that this is a hard step but sometimes it is the better thing to do. your mental health is more important than school. you are not alone, there are many other people who are struggling too and do this too. you can get through this.
