Ok.. FIRST WEEK.

It has been pretty light actually... the Fronter site is not so friendly but it is pretty complete, instructions are very explicit and every doubt you could have is being answered as you turn pages! 

As you may know.. you dont have to have experience teaching or be a native speaker to take this certification, so everything is really good explained... So far we are in unit 1, what you need to know about the learners and how can you help them, how to get their attention in a class and how to make their intrinsic learner (they will teach u what this is) grow!

CELTA wesbsite we will be using...

Tomorrow is the first day of CELTA, we will be working with a website called www.fronter.com , we have no idea how it is and tomorrow morning they will send us a username and password, later we must do a small training course on the same website to learn about it..the tutor says it shouldn´t take long..! keeping you posted..

Btw.. I had arranged (in my mind) to flight to his country the 10th of Dec. for his bday.. tomorrow morning i will go to the internship program of my university to see if i can finally start doing them now and when do they close for vacations.. AND THEEEN in the afternoon i will know, we will know.. if we will see eachother this christmas...

CELTA Pre Course Task & Interview

Before getting accepted into the course, I applied via e-mail and they sent me like pre-course task, it was very basic, I think anyone can do it, since I did and I don’t have a lot of experience teaching and my native language is not English. The word doc. had about 3 pages with exercises such as: correct the sentence, correct the verb tenses, stressed syllables, and 3 personal questions.

A week later they sent me an email informing me about a skype interview with one of British Council’s CELTA teacher. I got a little anxious since I didn’t know much about grammar, rules, exceptions, etc.! I read many blogs and they all said not to worry, that It was mostly  personal interview, and to check the pre course task with us! So I didn’t worry, and it all went perfectly fine! The tutor told me that CELTA takes in advanced teachers but also people with no experience at all, that they just want to see how we manage a conversation, the way we express ourselves and to go over the task to see if we really did it!

Today I ran. First mile, all I did was think of you and how it would take 1,999 miles more to get to you. And if we weren’t divided by the ocean then I think I would run until I reach you—my starting line. Second mile, all I did was think of you again—wondering if you’d do the same for me. Wondering if we’d meet half away. That’d be Thailand I think. Or Cambodia. Third mile, I immediately made a deal with the sky from the moment I saw my house from a distance. That I’d reach it under 10 seconds and the possibility of us living a happily ever after would increase. And I sprinted. And I sprinted. And I sprinted. Until I did for only 6 seconds. Then I looked up the sky, and the sun laughed.

Why CELTA?

Heeello!

So, I’m a twenty something year old finishing my University studies, I have always like teaching so I decided to take the CELTA program and expand my horizons. First, you need to know I have had “Long distance relationship” for about 10 years, in those years we have been in and out of it, each one of has had other partners and gone out with other people, you can say we are pretty open minded, and throughout the years we have agreed not to talk about each other’s love life, cause hey what’s the point, he lives in Europe and i live somewhere in South America. we met in 2006, skyped our way until 2010, then again 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016. We have traveled many times together, gotten drunk, met the families (WELL...mostly his family), etc. but our Online game has gotten weak...and I blame him cause he is not a technological guy but...for me he should be, anyway, I was with him this summer for about 3 weeks, we talked about the future, as usual, and because we are both single AND getting older we talked about me going to Europe to live and move together to try things out.  Why me? well I have family there, know the language basics and I LOVE IT there *Here is where CELTA comes in...* 

I did some research and found out that this program can open a lot of doors for your everywhere in the world, it’s a good opportunity to do what I love, travel abroad, learn another language and figure out my love life!

Cause i live in a dangerous country, the British Council has decided to do an ON-LINE celta course, that lasts about 4 months with 2 weeks face to face training... It works perfect for me because I’m in my last 6 months of career so I have the time to finish it + do the CELTA certification.

I will be writing about my journey with CELTA + Love Life from now until i get to the finish line… which is working+learning+love ... OH I forgot a big big big part of this story... My family doesn’t really know about him...why? I come from a VERY strict family and I knew that if i told them they wouldn’t let me travel to his country ever again, they are this kind of old fashioned parents and TRUST me I have done everything in my power to introduce him to them..but they kinda have my ex stuck in their minds.. so. WISH ME LUCK!
