It’s kinda overlooked but when you’re learning a language you should also learn how they punctuate differently, too.

For instance, in French:

a lot of things require an extra space before them that we wouldn’t use in English (!  ?  :  ;)

they use a point instead of a comma to break up long numbers (1.000.000) and a comma for decimal points (2,5)

speech marks are «  » and they want a space on each side of them too

they can use a : to link together two related main clauses where we’d normally use a ;

they have a completely new piece of punctuation that we don’t, it’s called “putain” and it’s usually used to signal the end of a clause (but sometimes the beginning of a new one)
