glazed porcelain spoon rests by asensiblehabit
indigo tulum leaf
black feather
so i bought the husbo and i a cool colorful spoon rest in mexico, and it’s not really working for us — the spoons don’t lay in it as i imagined. so maybe i should get one of these pretty little porcelain spoon rests by asensiblehabit — don’t you just love the minimalist glaze styles?
Pair of wheelthrown noodle bowls in rustic stoneware clay glazed only on the inside in irridescent blue
More stoneware glazes
Some more little bitty bowls, this time with a single glaze on each one. The were all dip glazed. It’s a lot easier to do that with such small bowls. They were fired to 1280°C which is approximately cone 9. I did a post about the firing profile we use for stoneware.
Blue Skies
All the blue bowls are blue skies, as I talked about in my previous post. I wanted to test how it looked at different thickness levels. I did this by watering down the glaze rather than changing the way I dipped them. I think it’s the best way to get a consistent glaze.
45 Â Soda Feldspar 15 Â Frit 1463 (Borax Frit) 13 Â Calcium Carbonate (whiting) 5 Â Â Kaolin (eckalite) 5 Â Â Tin oxide
+ 0.1 Â Â Cobalt Carbonate + 0.25 Â bright Copper Carbonate + 0.25 Â dark Copper Carbonate
Strawberries and Cream
I already did a whole post about this bowl because I like it so much. It’s a tin/chrome pink glaze.
45 Â Potash Feldspar 20 Â Silica 20 Â Whiting 10 Â Kaolin 5 Â Â Zinc Oxide 5 Â Â Tin Oxide 0.5 Â +Chrome Oxide
Buttercup
I called this one buttercup because it varies from yellow to orange. I tested these ones like the blue ones - applying in different thicknesses to see the effects. Orange does seem to come from being thinner.
45  Potash Feldspar 22  Dolomite 16  Silica 11  Zirconium Silicate 6   Kaolin 13 + Titanium
Translucent Brown (Dirt maybe?)
I was having trouble naming this one. It’s quite a pleasant brown (as brown goes. Being transluscent helps. Some of the ideas were Mocha and Hazelnut, but the book I got the recipe from says it’s not suitable for domestic use i.e. not food safe, so probably better to give it a non-food name like Dirt. I’m guessing it’s the manganese since otherwise it’s identical to Strawberries and Cream.
45 Â Potash Feldspar 20 Â Silica 20 Â Whiting 10 Â KaolinÂ
3 Â + Manganese dioxide
Translucent Green (Algae maybe?)
This one has the same problem as above. The book says not food safe. I think this is the right recipe for it. I’ll need to check the tub. I’m not sure how this one isn’t food safe though. The crazing maybe?
60Â Â Potash Feldspar 20Â Â Dolomite 15Â Â Silica 5Â Â Â KaolinÂ
3 Â + Rutile 1 Â + Copper Carbonate
Painting my ceramic food plates with my new underglaze set. A whole new world has opened up for me! :D
I’ll be taking customized food plates (of your character for example) in the future (I say “In the future” all the time with my stuff, but I’m really busy with my graduation project first >_< ) if anyone’s interested! :D

first lamp
even though it is in fact the second lamp created, it was the first one to come out of the kiln, glazed to test some Botz glazes bought as a gift for myself
