Late night doodle to try and motivate myself to draw more. This one is inspired by a memory/achievement I’d made a few years back, and it’s one I like to think about a lot, because in a way it has a great story I can apply to the journeys in my current day to day life. . At first the thought of climbing a mountain is new and exciting, you’ve never done it before, how amazing would it be to tell everyone you climbed a literal mountain? You throw yourself in, putting all your energy in that first half an hour of walking up, only thinking about how amazing the view from the top must be. You forget how long the journey will take, and after the first hour the upward journey is a lot steeper than you expected. You’re burnt out, no longer thinking about the top, you want to turn back. But everyone around you is pushing you to keep going. You don’t want to, but they don’t give up on you. It feels like forever, and it hurts so much, but eventually you see the final stretch in the distance. This part is the hardest, you can’t breathe, you just want to sit down, cry, and ask someone to carry you the rest of the way. But they can’t do that, this is your journey. You have to keep going. The moment your hand touches that monument at the tippy top of the mountain you’ve forgotten the strain and aching of your muscles, because the view is breathtaking, and you suddenly feel proud of yourself. You did this. You had encouragement, yes, but you walked yourself up to the top despite the struggle. You realise how much the walk was worth it, and take it all in. The journey back down is a breeze, legs too numb and smile too wide to care about the cold and tiredness. You made it, and that’s all that matters. . #illustration #snowdon #lifelessons
